As an owner of a '92 Samurai for over 30 years (bought in '94) I'm running 36" swampers on Jeep YJ springs and Toyota axles. I love what you are doing. Since I had a stroke on 2/1/2024 I haven't taken it out to the trails yet. Rehab made me walk, talk again, and regain some use of my right arm so I can shift so I WILL be back out on the trails again in the Spring. Thanks for creating this Video.
Merlin got over the VW urge and now you are getting me excited about an old Suzuki Samurai or old 1970s motorcycle teen flashback. Over 70 year old guess Samurai better than a 380 GT ? Merlin you are a great salesman for old VW and Suzuki.
I've never owned one always been a Jeep guy but those little samurais have always impressed me. Even in stock trim they're a capable little 4X4. It's cool to see how with just a few simple mods can turn them into a great little 4X4. Great video Merlin keep em coming!
Paul said you’re NEEDING A Twinkie or two. More than that heading your way. Hold on Merlin you can do it. You watch for that Amazon truck somewhere around January 30!!! 👍👍
Merlin u guys are awesome i used to have a 1988 samurai it was all factory but I took that thing anywhere i wanted to go i still have the Haynes manuals for them
I had friends that used to use the S1-3 as the farm/stables work horses, a lot cheaper than a quad or SXS and readily available junk yard parts when the body rots out wa build box frame bodies with sheet metal or junk yard panels if not rotten we do all you have done plus we move the front axle front shackles to the rear position as we do on our Landrovers to get more positive steering along with moving the steering tie rod etc behind the axle along with a rear disc brake conversion. When we break the chassis just go nuy another one and repeat got so good at doing the upgtades we could do it in a weekend including time to go to church. So enjoying this series oh we also built one with two transfer box's one stock one with the gear reduction set. a friend just reminded me we put a Vauxhall/Opel 1-8 overhead cam engine in a couple with fuel injection as a couple were also used to compete in offroad challenges along with farm duties.
The Rats dessert. Laying in his glove box one room bunk house eating his favorite snack. Wire loom. Truffles.Atleast he saved the copper wire for future use The little Sammy lives to ride another day and looking pretty tough too. Just don't scratch the paint. Macay worked pretty hard to clean up the bumper 😅. You guys crack me up. Take care.
Turned a reasonable little 4x4 into a good little 4x4, now need to make it great. Trim a few bits that get in the way and add at least one locker. Thanks guys.
Great Samu project, just missing the range extender from Cummins or a other diesel thingy….. 2.0 tdi would be cool if the Cummins is some bigginsky. Great to see you compadre McSamu is in da house too.
I think the wires were covered with a coating made from soy bean oil making it into liquorish candy for rodents . A police department had a problem with someone stripping wires on Toyota cars and not American made. When they checked the security cameras they seen a woodchuck going to all the Toyota cars and stripping the coating off as a treat . But the American cars used wires with a patrolleum base coating that gives them a tummy ache . Lol
Dang….when I saw that I was hoping you were going to build an LS conversion with two engines, one in the front and one in the rear!🤪😃😃…and I am pretty sure Chad would NOT APPROVE of that repair!😃
Put in a gooood roll cage, those things with huge tires NEED IT! Sweet rig BUT..Rolly poley A.F. with big tires! Even on pavement at not that high of speed! Been there on 2 wheels got lucky..
Morrs ED May Have the Golden Nugget Merlin And Mackay HAVe a Grey Turduki LOL All Kidding aside that is rare to Have that little Body Damage on an Old Suzuki
I still have a wheel from my 88 Samurai I sold it for $1000 after my wife with her son driving rolled it due to ice and a double dip on a concrete bottom wash. He should have been driving slower. It ruined the fiberglass top.
Suzuki sidekicks with automatics have 513 gears in their axles from factory and the 3rd members bolt directly into samurai axles, which will give you your power back .running 33s
A Merlin I just wonder if someone had a 46 Chevy pickup how close would a set of samurai axles come to fitting under it I know we’re talking fully custom built to put them under it but I would say wheel bolt flange to flange it has to be close to a old small Chevy truck I have seen someone put 1/2 pickup like Dana 44s under a old 40s or 50s Chevy and they are to wide Idk samurai might fit better 🤷♂️
merlin: Why don't you use welding goggles when you using a torch to cut your hangars off of your axles. I always when I did that I would see spots like from a flash bulb going off after cutting without goggles. They have shaded safety glasses that work well when cutting. 5-shade I believe.

You be careful my man and God speed on your full recovery!
Praying for continued recovery and an early spring to enjoy the fruits of your labor.

@tomyot77 ts a older jeep yj on my end.
Always a treat to see you & MacKay working together.
Working together?? Not this time.... This is playing, and messing up a really good vehicle.......
@@andriesviljoen4309 I would NEVER describe a "Zuki" Samurai as a "perfectly good vehicle". It is being made into something useful.

Really enjoy builds like this. Builds in stages and give it some life again
I’ve been doing Suzuki sidekick 1.6L 16V swaps in samurais on my channel and it’s a huge upgrade. Thanks for taking us along on the adventure.
Very educational video. I just hauled home a free Samurai for a future project.
I like when he explains what he’s doing and why. It’s much more interesting to understand rather than just seeing.
Wheelin on a budget!! Probably one of the best little wheeler out there. SPAO and the 4:1 is great next step is lockers, and you're golden.
Very nice trade on both sides
Nice job
Three of the greatest words in Merlin’s vocabulary, “it’ll be alright”!
Usually followed by three more, “until it’s not”… LOL
Merlin u guys are awesome i used to have a 1988 samurai it was all factory but I took that thing anywhere i wanted to go i still have the Haynes manuals for them
That wiring was insane!
looks like you guys had a awesome day thanks for sharing👍
There's something uniquely awesome about those old Suzuki's!!!

Awesome morning brother Awesome adventure as always
That black roll-first-aid kit works wonders for lots of things 😂
you should measured from top the running board to ground before and after ! That wirings crazy I'm surprised it didn't burn up !
I’m running in 87 Sammy, Chevy 10 bolts on 36s on TJ coils and a 1995 Nissan truck engine and 5 speed trans. Works great.
I went and rewatched the first video again!!!
Samurai is looking really good!! Those mods will make a huge difference in its capabilities!! Can't wait to see the mountain run!!
Turned a reasonable little 4x4 into a good little 4x4, now need to make it great. Trim a few bits that get in the way and add at least one locker. Thanks guys.
Thanks Merlin for your vid 😇💟💟💟 Love and bless you guys, nice work 👍😁💪
Working up a cute little rig.
Never was a big Suzuki Samurai fan but this one looks pretty cool after Merlin has worked his magic on it! Should be a lot more capable too.
I still Love my Samurai!
Huge Clearance Clarence

That's great guy's looking better
Love your content all bs aside at the same time you and paul getting that 30s car was nice no clue how he could had made a better choice THX

You are a very intelligent man
I love going to sleep to the music you play, but this episode I couldn't do to the vibration of the mic
Lol the Suss Samurai turning out great!
Samurai night fever!
I wish I had one I would drive it everyday
When you solid mount the tcase in them thing they have a tendency to break the case ! Just from what I've found any way
When i lived in Tn those things were highly sought after, you could go down smaller trails and get farther away from the regular trails.
Makay is the new Chad, those wires were nasty 😆
I bought the hard top SAMARIA IN 1987 IT HAD 8000 MILESand in one week of owening I was announced that they were the roll over king of the road
I have 35s on my Chevy Tracker still running the factory 1.9 liter (currantly air cooled thanks to a deer) Suzuki engine and 5 speed
I really would have liked to have seen how you lower the T case.
Thanks
Now I want my Samaria back
Say hi to everyone for me brother yall always have awesome adventures enjoy every one of your adventures
I need one🎉🎉
Looks like 3m 33 tape, that harness repair is good to go! LOL
It’s a shame that no one is writing a book about what you and McCey know about all vehicles. God Bless
I love small SUVs that can make it through the tuff stuff 😊
Good old cheap fun
Time for a diesel samurai kit.
Oye new video ❤😊 best TH-cam videos.. master Merlin.. salut from Portugal 🇵🇹
Well the little samurai's pretty tough we have these there here in Tennessee people build them
I think the wires were covered with a coating made from soy bean oil making it into liquorish candy for rodents . Chevy Astro van power steering works great.
I love the look of this samural how on earth did it not catch on fire with wiring like that
Dang….when I saw that I was hoping you were going to build an LS conversion with two engines, one in the front and one in the rear!🤪😃😃…and I am pretty sure Chad would NOT APPROVE of that repair!😃
Bump here, Bump there, and Bump everywhere 😅
Not snowing in Seattle.
Love the cheap lift kit work
Maybe you need a flow 2 pro camera 📷 it can follow you around and zoom in and out 😉
To much Colin furze is giving discount
good ole merlin no plasma cutern or fancy welders like my dad a set of tanks and a few tips and off we go
Dealing with a rat wire loom in a 92 Hijet in a really cold barn in NH
hi merlin good ep go have some fun with the car.
Put in a gooood roll cage, those things with huge tires NEED IT! Sweet rig BUT..Rolly poley A.F. with big tires! Even on pavement at not that high of speed! Been there on 2 wheels got lucky..
Hey Merlin glad you made it home safe with Paul , are you going to muscle cars on the strip in march
Morrs ED May Have the Golden Nugget Merlin And Mackay HAVe a Grey Turduki LOL All Kidding aside that is rare to Have that little Body Damage on an Old Suzuki
Have you done the welded on steering arm before? Sketches me out a little but who knows.
Any thoughts on rolling the front axle back to get about 7 degrees of caster to help with death wobble?
looks like you have clearance clarence
Brillo pads for aluminum
This is my 10th year in LHC. I started with RZR's and now have an offroad 4Runner too. Why have I never heard of Tomcat pass?
Helicopter wiring lol.
I saw a guy put an LS in a Suzuki Samari
Merlin how come you not have a shop like this in lake elsinore
I still have a wheel from my 88 Samurai I sold it for $1000 after my wife with her son driving rolled it due to ice and a double dip on a concrete bottom wash. He should have been driving slower. It ruined the fiberglass top.
The only problem I've found is the upsidedown fuel pump. If the diaphragm goes out, it pumps all the oil out of the engine....you know what happens...
You said razr tires? What size?
Is that a lift block on the front axle or is it a Suzuki thing
Dropping the rear of the t-case to help rear driveline angle kills the front angle
Suzuki sidekicks with automatics have 513 gears in their axles from factory and the 3rd members bolt directly into samurai axles, which will give you your power back .running 33s
There were probably no ground returns in that bundle of wires? My guess is they were all positive feeds? Maybe why the truck wouldn't shut off.

I miss my samurai. But I don’t think I’d ever weld a pitman arm upside down on top of the steering knuckle…..
👍🏾👍🏾✌
4 link up front would get rid of bumpsteer lol.
merlin: Why don't you use welding goggles when you using a torch to cut your hangars off of your axles. I always when I did that I would see spots like from a flash bulb going off after cutting without goggles.
They have shaded safety glasses that work well when cutting. 5-shade I believe.
Call this puppy, “Suzukiyaki.
Don't worry McCay it'll buff out 😅
How many cars and trucks have you owned in your life??
