    • @adamr9215
      @adamr9215 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      BensaLenkkari If it wasn’t 20 inches too long, I would agree. It weighs more than my KX500, has about 1/5th of the power and is a foot longer. That is a horrible combination. Just because he is scared that a kids bike engine made for a sub-150lb bike is going to be too powerful for a 500lb monstrosity isn’t a reason to make it even longer and heavier.

    • @bensalenkkari7058
      @bensalenkkari7058 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Adam R Are you really comparing a KX500 to this minibike that has 125 cr engine?I don’t really think that the point of this build is performance, but power and the way it is set up. This looks sick already, and im sure he is gonna build new front end too, which will fill up that huge rear swing arm. And Chris said that he wants this to act like a full sized enduro bike, and enduro bikes usually have long travelling suspension, so big swing arm is necessary.

    • @adamr9215
      @adamr9215 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      BensaLenkkari That was a very valid comparison. People are scared of a big 2 stroke like a KX500. He is acting more scared of this mini bike than he should be. The swingarm is way to long to let this bike ride trails. Long travel is needed, but a long wheelbase makes for a bad turning radius. And that is super important to trail riding. Trail bikes need to be light, short and nimble. This is a fail on all 3. I usually love his work, but all this work is just going to end up with something less useful than the stock mini bike.
      Also, I have to ask, what kind of meth are you using to think that a front end will change the hideously long swingarm? Is he going to push it out an extra 2 feet so the bike can’t make a u turn in a Walmart parking lot? That doesn’t fix the problem, it makes it worse.

    Determining dimensions of eBay shocks: print enlarged picture, use diameter of inner bushing sleeve as the known measurement, use that number and a ruler to measure distance between top and bottom bushings. Keep doing what you do!

      @@petermacdonald2822 He could use a thin wall tubing or bend very thin plate to make tubes in the holes keeping out dirt and water. If dimple died that would reduce the length of the tube/plate needed to.

    I love watching your videos Chris. Sux you have to explain yourself to your viewers, It's your bike, "Project" , your money that bought it, your materials and money that bought it, I think you should build it the way you want too without answering to your viewers.
    Your ideas, and good ones for the most part as far as I'm concerned. Keep up the good work on your projects, I'll keep watching and liking.
    Thanks for the videos and all the hard work that you put into them.

    Damn that swing arm looks nice ! I want to say that your content is a great source of inspiration and it gives me a lot of ideas for my personal projects. I've been watching your channel for a long time and i'm starting to understand your personality a little bit more, i want to give you just a small advice (don't be offended): i know that some comment are about criticizing your choices and i know it can be unpleasant but i've noticed in some video that you anticipates these comment by being a tiny bit agressive. I hope you can see what i mean and i just think it could be beneficial for the channel. Looking forward to the next video.

    It's like a mini extreme hill-climb bike, you did right with the length of the swing arm as you correctly stated it would be hard to ride.
    I used to race a 1991 CR125R way back in the 90's & can vouch for how hard it would be to stay on it if you'd built it normally :-)

    I need to post a vid of mine! I have a china clone honda 70 with a cr85 engine cradle grafted to the pitbike frame.. frame was extended 3-4” and the subframe is the complete oem cr85! It has a FMF fatty pipe, and all kinds of fast 50’s upgrades.. The way the fabricator did it saved a lot of time by using the entire motor cradle, and welding. Your bike is going to be INSANE!

    Where you put the rear tire will make a great hill climber bike. I did that to one of mine a few years back and it would climb almost anything with a 110cc honda clone. With the cr engine it'll be a monster. When you test drive try some hills. Builds are looking sweet by the way, there all so good

  • @pondmonserfox

    Fantastic work as usual, the swing arm looks very good. I was thinking, maybe instead of using an external expansion chamber what if you used the box section of the swing arm that the shock is attached to as the expansion chamber. It looks like it might hold enough coolant and it would cut down on weight. Some Buell motorcycles use a hollow swing arm as a motor oil reservoir for their dry sump oil systems. Just thought it was a neat idea.

    I know that using the milling cutters dry makes for better video, but they last so much longer, and cut so much better with cutting oil. I switched from soluble oil to RTD fluid last year, and the difference was huge. Carbide cutters are surprisingly cheap from the likes of wish and bangood, but they don't give them away. BTW there new videos from several of the channels I follow when I sat down at the computer today, but this was my first choice.

    The weight of your swing arm will help with the power of that engine and keeping the bike drive-able. I don't know the year of the bike your engine is from, but the 125's from the early 2000's were rated for 41hp. So you're going from a measly 6hp to 41hp. I wouldn't worry about your minibike ending up fat. :)
