I probably have everything Pete's released at this point. Some is gold imo, and some not so much (for me). This one was a big miss though and I wouldn't recommend it. The cards are pretty, but anyone with anything less than 20/20 vision is going to find them unusable. The pen gag isn't for me either and I doubt I'll be alone on this. And on it goes. The box will look good on the shelf, but I am not a fan of the contents. Pete of course can't help but drop great pointers along the way and is a great teacher. I don't think experienced mentalists will find much here, and also don't think it's going to do much for beginners. Just sharing another opinion here in case it helps someone out there. Thanks for sharing! Others opinions are always welcome and appreciated. I used the rise gimmick at a gig last night. It was just a small Christmas gathering for colleagues so I figured if it didn’t work (the routine and outcome, not the gimmick itself.. that’s working great) it’s not a huge deal. It worked great. I’ve always found plenty of use for the shiner and the bulldog clip, I used the clip last night as well. I know these are not new creations but after watching Pete give his insight it made me want to use them again. Spider gag definitely isn’t for me either but I’ll be good for Halloween haha. I’ll definitely use some of the card routines as well. It won’t be for everyone but I think I’ll get my moneys worth here. I’m not a beginner in mentalism, but the majority of mentalism I do is for larger crowds so this gives me some more close up material for sure.

This looks really interesting. Had seen Pete talk about the Rise gimmick on a download-- my main reason of getting this would probably be for the Rise gimmick and routines with it. Thanks !!
Yeah it’s a clever method, and the gimmick itself seems to be well thought out and well made.
Who cares if methods get exposed? This is stuff to fool laypeople, not magicians. Even if we know how a gimmick works wouldn't we need to buy it anyway?
I’ve had that theory before and the magic community was not pleased. So.. I respect the majority.

The rise gimmick allows you to achieve a hands off any card at any number where you hand your participant a deck of cards still in the box, have them name a card and number and when you deal down to that number, that’s the card.

Thanks for the explanation, is the effect you can achieve similar to the effect that is possible with the Quantum Deck? Or is it completely different?
@jayplays568 well the quantum deck you need to handle the cards where as the rise routine is completely hands off. You never touch the cards at all. I usually handle the cards when dealing down to their said number but the participant could very well so that part too to keep it 100% hands off.

can you say more about the rise gimmick is it really that clever? will you use it ?
Yes I will use it. It might not be for everyone, I will say that. The procedure is quite bold which is why I mentioned using the right participant. I likely wouldn’t use this as a one and done effect. I would need to get a feel for who I’m performing for and then choose my participant accordingly. But I will say that if you I use someone who isn’t likely to challenge you, it will work. A lot of it has to do with the language used. If you use the provided script it will work.. if not, there may be questions. I know that’s pretty vague but follow the script and you’ll be good. And it doesn’t have to be word for word by any means.. you just want to address a few things. Overall it does what it’s supposed to and pretty much does all the work for you. it’s very very simple to do and once you do it a few times and get comfortable I think it’ll be simple to achieve. For being a completely hands off ACAAN, I think this does a good job.

personally i think its not worth it
@junliangjiang6622 I think it is. You get $200 worth of props for $150 and then hours upon hours of routines, insight and Pete’s experience. I’ve made it through all the tutorials now and even the stuff I don’t see me using, I still learned a lot from and I will use Pete’s wisdom for other things I already do. The rise gimmick is cool, I like the finished product, how it works and the design. I think if E sold it on its own it would probably be almost half of what the kits worth. I actually think the early bird price on this was $89 so I got my moneys worth for sure.
@@ChrisEdwardsMagic i guess 89 is pretty nice. And i mean ya, the tutorials are great, but just like the concepts are just repeating, dont u think? Like The rise gimmick and the switch gimmick.
@junliangjiang6622 if by repeating you mean this isn’t really new material I agree as a lot of the concepts are as old as the hills. But I think the uses of the different included props range quite well in variety.
