Coordinate Method

In this video, I use the coordinate method or Chain Rule method to solve a PDE. It is based on defining clever coordinates and using the Chain Rule to turn the PDE into one that's much easier to solve. Enjoy!

How do you know which change of coordinates will do the trick?

you can do the method with general coefficients and then determine what the best choice would be by comparing coefficients - once you collect like terms the goal is to try to get as many terms to cancel out via your substitution as possible
