    Yeah, the ‘arm wave’ can be a sign of acknowledgement(“I see you, just be aware that I see you, you stay on your side I’ll stay on mine”) or a sign of submission. They acknowledge you as the larger ‘dragon’ in the room, “Hey, I see you, I don’t want any trouble. I’ll stay out of your way.”

      How can I show mine that I don’t want any trouble with him also? I’m very nervous of him biting me does that mean he won’t?

      Mari Sanchez you don’t have to wave at them just take your beardie and it won’t bite you! I tamed mine and now she’s the biggest sweet heart!

      Waving is a dragon's way of expressing the desire for social harmony. This behavior, as well as head-bobbing, can also be seen during courtship, by both parties.
      The belief that this is merely a display of submission severely undermines their highly-social capacities.

      They are so cute! Is it really a response to being afraid? Even though they are around you and you feed and take care of them. I'm sorry I don't know anything about them.

    • @jmurrayufo
      @jmurrayufo 6 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Jena Ticker Aquariums, There are no stupid questions!!!
      Yes, this is a somewhat intense fear response. They really only have one thing beyond it (black bearding) as far as common behaviors go.
      "Even though they are around you and you feed and take care of them."
      Understand that this isn't a social species. They are simply not wired like you or I. Most of the behaviors we think are cute or trusting, just mean something different to them! Good examples: Eye closing? A sign of annoyance. Sitting on top of each other? Literally trying to stave one another of heat/uv. Going to sleep? Mostly a lack of heat shutting their body down.
      They can learn to see us as a source of good things in their life, but at best they learn to tolerate a humans presence. Loving owners understand and accept them for this fact, and love them anyway =) Sadly a lot of uncaring owners would rather project onto them, rather than learn about their nature.
      Still, this is an AWESOME video showing a very cute looking behavior!

      Well, keep in mind, it's stress (which is bad) but these guys all look super healthy otherwise! In the wild they could expect to get 3 years, 5 if they were very lucky. In captivity they can expect 10-15 years! I think on the balance, they do pretty well in the long run! =D

Last night she did it because she didn’t like a blue bowl I was using to pour water into her storage bin bathtub (I don’t like her pooping into my shower or sink so I have her poop into a bin of dechlorinated water about half an inch deep.)

    It's A Sign Of Submissiveness
    One of the most common reasons a bearded dragon might be waving is it's a sign of submissiveness. In the wild, these lizards use this as a way of showing they understand that they're not the strongest creature in the area.

  • @jonjonsin824
    @jonjonsin824 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mine just started doing this after I tried to take it out. For some reason it didn't want out and flattened and opened it's mouth alot. Then it started doing this. It's a submission sign, saying I'm inferior to you please don't eat or hurt me. Cant we be friends? 😂

    Fun fact bearded dragon hand wave is actually done either as submission or aggression. Faster hand waves done together with head bobbing as seen mid-way through the video is typically an act of aggression or warning or threat, while the slower hand wave is a submissive response.

    • @vovindequasahi
      @vovindequasahi 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No there is no aggression in this movement. It is love appreciation and commitment. Don't know where you got that from. When a bearded dragon is aggressive they hiss at you and get , well, aggressive towards you. The hand is communicating that s/he loves you and trusts you.
