My family is from Louisiana but I’ve lived most of my life in Tennessee. Even so, my parents would take us out of school each year to go to Mardi Gras. I still try to make it every year. When I explain that this festival is because of Lent and getting ready for Christ’s resurrection, they look at me puzzled. Ha! You are right, Father Doyle…everything IS based around our Lord!
Thank you Father Brad. I loved your reflection on the meaning of Boxing Day. I'm a Canadian and we do celebrate Boxing Day as well since we are part of the British Empire. But Boxing Day is definitely losing it's true meaning, it is now one of the busiest shopping days of the year..... sad but true. God bless you Father and I love your daily reflections.
Good Morning, Fr. Brad. Our town is in sorrow for a new mom and twin babies who are now angels with God. Please pray for our fie fighter with the loss of his family. An accident of birth🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thank you Father Doyle for sharing the origins of Boxing Day. I’m Canadian and Boxing Day is a statutory holiday for us. I was just recently wondering about the origins of it as images are often showing boxing gloves. Now I know. Thank you again & God Bless.
Thank you Father Brad, I am Canadian and have had the metric system introduced 50 plus years ago and I still prefer imperial measurement. Thanks and God bless! The Vendi should be remembered. Best to all!
Thirty Eight years ago today, I married my best friend. Please pray for a other 38 years together. Please pray for my husband Todd to make his first communion and our children to come back to the church.
Great points! I was thinking the same thing about the holidays and Jesus. It is so secular now, people don’t even think about the original meaning and they would not have the holiday if not for The Lord!
Thank you,Father. As I retired French teacher, I have to say that, in my opinion, it is impossible to understand French culture without knowing the Catholic Church.
@ there are other verses that he could’ve used for example John 316. Also, he quoted saying that the settlement came to die on the cross therefore they could’ve done others versus than that and besides, we know why he came.
Thank you as always, Fr. Brad, for another great reflection! 🙌🏻🙏🏻🤲🏻
Thank you Father. I appreciate your teaching. I hope to visit your parish for mass sometime this year. It’s a bit of a trip but I hope to make it.

Good reflection Father!
Awesome pod cast Padre..🫶👍🏻
Interesting
This was interesting because I'm thinking that perhaps Atheist's may not realize they too are actually partaking in Christian "celebrations" .
l
Help me understand. Why would the scriptures go from the birth of Jesus (December 25th) to his resurrection (today)?
To show the reason why Christ came

@ not everyone does.
