Perhaps the best complement I can pay to you Scott is that you are the one TH-camr that I watch where I immediately reset the video playback speed to normal.
Most others I set the playback speed to 1.5 to 2. I do this for two reasons, some have a very slow delivery and others make really long content, 20-30 minutes, or more. But your delivery, your humor, and content are so enjoyable, I want to make the 10-15 minutes last, so I reset playback to normal. Not saying don't make longer content if that is something you want to do, as I am sure I would still reset to normal. Glad to see you're able to get back to work.
Sigh...it feels like we are almost back to normal with Scott back to work. "What are you doing?" screeches the lady at the end. People a little edgy in NZ. I like the unique capturing of the times, like the men waiting for the barber.

Take car eof yourself. Your mask is not rated for mold and fungus, and you need to keep a clean shave when you do have an appropriate mask. Also, you can fill a sprayer with hydrogen peroxide and soak the area you are working in. Be safe, be smart.

@@iggifer we have Metabo HPT here (I believe same as Hikoki), but service is hard to find and we can't get a 16g finish nailer. Apparently its discontinued...
The Homestud weird. Yea Metabo HPT is Hikoki in the rest of the world. It’s a 16GA nailer I’ve ordered. Still listed as a product on the Hikoki UK website - 16GA is the most popular size nailer over here. 18 or higher is not as common.

just to prove "there's more than one way to skin a cat" i would have bolted the joist to the wall below the existing joist. another thought, everybody is going cordless with all their tools, saws, grinders, planers and sanders, but if you use a vacuum hose why go to the expense of cordless?

Hi Scott, I think maybe you should have capped the end of the repaired joist with a damp proof material, it's fine using the bitumen strip, but it seems that the end of the joists can get damp when in contact with the outside wall, UK tradie :)

I realize this is an older video, but I am curious as to how you handle the unknowns to a job. Not how to do them, but how you handle the costs with the customer/client.
It’s my perception you went into this job to do a renovation. The rot was something perhaps unknown. So you spent a day doing the demo, material acquisition, and rebuild of this “closet”. How did you figure this expense with the client?

The HWC should have a drip tray under it. Then, no more leak problems, even if the cylinder leaks.
Doesn't happen. Although a cylinder blew up 2 or 3 years back .Totally destroyed the house and badly damage several around it. Tray wouldn't have helped there.

Love that you are back 🎉. Question for Kam it yourself. Got a festool hkc end of last year. Have my Makita small battery cordless circular saw. Got the festool as no matter what I attached to Makita it makes a huge mess especially when doing internal work. Love the festool for lack of mess but find it bulky and twice the size of Makita and off the track I am way more accurate with the Makita and the Makita has more power for very similar size blades. Question is what are your thoughts boys. Love to hear your thoughts.
Might I suggest french cleats, seems like a fun side project to organize all your tools. You can just make custom holders for all your stuff!

That joist reinforcement where you added just nails. Think it lacks side compression between new and old pieces my mate. I would add few extra construction screws so it would marry those two into one working element. Cheers
