The parents going to bed with the killer on the loose, and, after their son was a big Wtf to, me, too. Officer Mackey must have had a horseshoe up his ass to take both of those kids out of the house, without waking up the parents. Also, he took them away in his squad car. He must have had that parked in Davey's backyard to pull that off so fast. The ending was perfect, though. The thought of Davey living in fear for the rest of his life is terrifying. Did not like woody dying. The ending is pretty much open. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a sequel in a few years.
Thank you for the awesome video.

The thing that I really love about this film is how the twist is tonal and not story driven. You pretty much know from the beginning that mackeys the killer and its kind of this whimsy story that you think is going to end in a cliched way....but then the film shows its horrific underbelly that was there the whole time but we;the viewers, didn't really acknowledge it until it was too late

Great movie, thanks once again for bringing it to attention. I actually stuck with Mackey the entire time as he was going to be the killer. Usually wrong in that respect, but the vibes & scenes just kept me on him. I took the vics pics on the wall "safe" because I felt that Mackey was a loner. When they followed him, no1 ever came to his house, no cop buddies, no1 period, also a reason why I was sticking to him for the killer. Some great throwbacks to my youth & depictions of the 80's that worked for me. This had a couple scenes that reminded me of Disturbia. The 3rd act was "Wow"! Couldn't believe the fat kid(Woody) getting his neck slit! The ending really worked for me as well. Curious to see if this earns/receives some kind of prequel/sequel. Good feedback!

Watched it recently and enjoyed it. I think this movie is kind of inspired by The 'Burbs (1989) with Tom Hanks, but Burbs did the horror-comedy stuff much better in my opinion, and just in general one of my fav movies of all times. There's some guys in the neighborhood, summer, he's on vacation, they have nothing to do, and then new sketchy neighbors come and they spy on them, very similar.

I watched this on Saturday and loved loved loved it. An amazing movie seemingly out of no where. I am 45 and like you, love horror be it from the 80's or about the 80's. It is rare now days to see a movie that plays with what you think is happening or who done it as this one did. One second you are sure of what's happening, then the next second you are questioning what you are thinking. It almost had a Stand by me Feel along with the others you mentioned. Have you seen " Super Dark Times ". That is another fun one. 4 Friends, small town and things go bad, very bad. Slow burn movie, but worth it I thought. Thanks again for another awesome video.

If you enjoyed Summer of 84 you should like it as well.
It has similar teen drama/thriller vibe, it's more dark, it's also using some nostalgia but not as heavily as Summer of 84 though.

Finding out that the female young girl they all think is perfect is fooling around with the older cop (meaning he's not the killer but they do end up finding out something fucked up) would have been a gut punch ending of reality/ coming of age. I haven't seen the movie, but watching reviews and hearing the "crazy ending" I thought it would be something like that.

Sinister Cinema Reviews I like to think 80s-early 2000s had the best Slashers/Horror movies, so I like now that they're bringing back horrors/thrillers that take place in the 80-90s. This is also coming from someone who didn't grow up in the 80s to 90s 😂

@@sinistercinemareviews5420 Oh I loved it. I just put it on in the background while I was playing Ratchet & Clank, but I quickly noticed how well done all the 80s stuff was, compared to other things in the genre. I'm not a fan of Stranger Things, but the atmosphere in this hooked me right away. I never thought the girl was the killer, but I wasn't sure it was the cop, until about halfway thru. I just thought they'd put way too much stock into him by that point for him not to be the killer. But when they found out for sure & the whole final act, I was blown away. Most of the film could pass for kids adventure movie from when I was a kid, but I've never seen one end so badly for the kids! Usually they win and it's a celebration at the end, in other kid summer adventure movies. But they showed the club house being torn down, the one kid died, and the girl moved away. Not to mention the main kid's life ruiner. Yeah, I loved it. I wanna see more movies like it. Kind of adult versions of the movies we grew up with.
