  • Creative director Jonathan Simkhai teams up with Teighan Gerard of Half Baked Harvest to create the perfect holiday dish-Red Wine Cranberry Braised Short Ribs. Watch these creative talents chat while whipping up the ultimate cold-weather comfort entrée.
    Recipe & Instructions:
    1. Season five pounds of short ribs with salt and pepper. Sear in two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil.
    2. Add one yellow onion, two shallots, and four carrots to a slow cooker or oven-safe dish.
    3. Add two cups dry red wine, two cups of broth, two tablespoons tomato paste, one teaspoon brown sugar, four sprigs fresh thyme, two sprigs fresh rosemary and two bay leaves.
    4. Cook ribs for 6-8 hours on low (slow cooker) or 2 1/2 - 3 hours at 325°F (oven).
    5. Add two cups fresh cranberries during the last 2 hours (slow cooker) or beginning (oven).
    6. Discard herbs and bay leaves before serving.
    7. Serve ribs and sauce over mashed potatoes.
