The lead singers has got to be considered one of the best vocalists in metal. Just so good
One of the reasons why I like metal is that the lyrics are made by real feelings and emotions, nothing to do with the trash of commercial music that is everywhere, but Swallow The Sun it is on another level honestly, they are all those emotions and feelings embodied in a song, with the perfect sounds that complement what words cannot explain so that the soul can perceive a complete masterpiece and it is there where in a certain way you feel identified with the pain and melancholy that there is in each song, because after all music is food and poison for the soul, It can make you feel so good that you touch the sky, but it can also make you feel that you are descending into the depths of the darkness and even better, it can make you feel both at the same time. that's why STS it's my favorite band

Swallow The Sun are just something everyone needs to hear!
Moonflowers is an album of the year for me, there's no contest. It might be their most emotionally impactful album to date. I've rarely shed manly tears as much as I did during the first listening. It's for the broken hearted, that's for sure, and I can find some real comfort out of it. Songs like this one and _All Hallows' Grieve_ got through my shield instantly.
Same for me. The first song at the beginning I just felt the absolute pain and deep thoughts of not wanting to experience a loss like this.
@DecrepitOrigin888 it kind of reflects the sense of loss from Juha after Aleah died of cancer in 2016. Almost every lyric he made since then are about his process of finding meaning for his life after the love of his life parted from this world.
@DecrepitOrigin888 I listen to them since 2019 but only this year I really grew found of their music. That's OK, nobody has to know everything about every band in the world.
Hush and Grin from Mastodon is album of the year for me

Be careful. Continuous listening to STS will make you gloomy.
If you've got a lot of time to kill, highly recommend listening to Songs from the North. It's a triple album, like 2 and a half hours long I think, but it's so damn good.

I wanna start the analysis of the song with 'Gabriel' which is mentioned in the chorus. St. Gabriel is one of seven archangels who enter and serve before the Glory of the Lord, and one of the three archangels mentioned in Sacred Scripture: Michael (Revelation 12:7-9), Raphael (Tobit 12:15), and Gabriel (Luke 1:27-28). Guitarist, lyricist for the band 'Juha Raivio' wrote this song in about his beloved wife 'Aleah Starbridge' who passed away after a brave fight with cancer on 4/18/16 she was 39 yrs old. She was everything to him & this song is about his continued grief from losing her, the emptiness it has left, he's calling out for a savior in 'Gabriel', reaching out for some sort of salvation.

18 апреля 2016 года произошла трагедия - в возрасте 39 лет скончалась Алия Стэнбридж, возлюбленная идейного основателя группы Юхи Райвио. Алия Стэнбридж внесла большой вклад в творчество Swallow the Sun и эта трагедия не прошла незаметно для участников группы и фанатов. Юха Райвио закончил постпродакшн альбома и выпустил его уже после её смерти, но впоследствии отступил от выступлений в течение почти двух с половиной лет.

That’s right. StS has done gigs ALL around the world and is considered as one of the best melodic death/doom bands. So not that much of an underrated.
