It was a hoot hanging out with you guys! PS: I don't want to lead the Crack team anymore. 😉 Once agin, thank you for having me over and safe travels brother.
@@VinceW187 A microwave is a tool like any other in the kitchen. It does well with some things, not so much with others. A toaster isn't much good with soup, and a stove isn't much good with deep frying. If it's used right, you might not even be able to tell something wasn't cooked on a stovetop. The "problem" with microwave food is that the section of the market that can't afford high quality food also can't afford a conventional oven so there's a lot of overlap between "imitation food-like product" and "microwavable".
@@VinceW187 hey, that's my HS Girlfriend's cooking expertise when we moved out together....need I say her and I didn't last too much longer after that?
I've been to a Neels blacksmithing course a couple of times. The time spent there was so fulfilling and you can tell that he isn't doing it for the money. He loves what he does and his enthusiasm for the craft is infectious!
The projects that fight you can also be the most satisfying to finish. Sometimes satisfying that they turned out so well, mostly a "Thank god that's done!" way.
Welkom in de werkwinkel? As a Dutch guys afrikaans souns so weird because its clearly Dutch but also its not. Anyway Great video! Love to see more colabs with Niels he's clearly a fun guy
I looked down for a bit while watching your video and was listening and then looked up to see your dog in your lap and thought you were doing a hair cutting sharpness test on the dog. (17:21). LOL
Would you consider doing a video talking about the uses and benefits of big and small power hammers, and what the benefits of a hammer versus a press are when forging if you haven't already done something like that.
I love that even though neels is in wills shop he still has his trademark smoke going in the shop. If he hadn't been smoking I would have said this was a clone or a look a like person lol
Were you quenching the W2 in water? I’ve been cracking my W1 when I add a hamon but it’s too soft when I harden in oil. Interested in what is working for you.
I love seeing you do random things with your sponsors product, not sure if heating up a microwave meal in a heat treat oven was the best idea though 🤔 If they sponsor you again, maybe see if they can throw in a microwave for the workshop 🤣 That saw a real shame about Neels' knife..... and yours as well. I hope you manage to crack.... err sorry, wrong word..... I hope you manage to nail the heat treat on your blade 👍👍👍👍
Oh that’s the sound of Monday with you scraping the steel and I was cringing at the sound of it 😩😖😭 but amazing job with the knives and commiseration’s on your friends knife breaking 😱🤕
I'm kinda facing that "the x will fight you" myself, though tbf it's something I'm only in the beginning phases of learning (literally, it's like my 4 project). The last day and half I've been trying to find out what the h*ck my cfd sim won't converge, I'll need to ask for an extension to my professor, because I can't really hand in what I've done so far as it's incomplete ;-;
With the right equipment in the shop, a 1 day build is not hard at all. Come do it in my forge and see what a real 1 day build would be like. Bare bones. An old 116lb Peter Wright and a 4lb whiskey turtle forge hammer. No kiln, no 2X72, no power hammers or press, and no exotic anything. W1 pulls a beautiful hamon also.
I have a question: Can the hamon be any design such as using letters? It would be funny to make a knife with a hamon that said 'Send Nudes' in cursive. You can probably have one word on each side of the knife.
It was a hoot hanging out with you guys! PS: I don't want to lead the Crack team anymore. 😉 Once agin, thank you for having me over and safe travels brother.
Rule No.1 Oom...rule No.1
So weird hearing people say our name
Was in the Lufthansa flight out of SA with Neels. Was wondering if he was on his way to you Will.
Yeah. I heard the "tink" and thought "Oops, rule one, Neels. Rule one."
Happy to hear of your existence! Subbed to you and will be watching your vids next!
Im always excited to see Will get sponsors. He is amazing entertainer and deserves more than he is getting right now.
Not sure a microwave meal is a sponsorship to be sper happy with. Never trust any meal that's prepared in a microwave. But maybe I am a snob :)
@@VinceW187 A sponsor is a sponsor, weather is a sponsor for microwave food, or for condoms, its still a sponsor. Which is a step forward.

Greeeeen with envy! 🌿🌿🌿
The camera work on this video is among the best I've seen on a blacksmith/forging channel. Absolutely love the angels and close ups!
A fellow South African. What a joy! We always have a great work ethic, ingenuity and a great sense of humour...😀👏
That's what we keep on tellig everyone
Really fun to see your collaborations with other blade nerds. Safe travels!
The editing on this one is top notch 👌, I like this dude. This was a great episode, I can't believe I missed it. Well done fellas.
I had my first ever knife making lesson from Neels - Congrats on becoming a Master Smith Neels. Looking forward to seeing you in England.
i did not understand one single word neel said.. ;D
"Squishy Aunty Pearl, and hardass Uncle Martin." "You'll never forget it again."
No. No I won't.
The more videos will posts in a month. The better the month is
Yes I agree
The projects that fight you can also be the most satisfying to finish. Sometimes satisfying that they turned out so well, mostly a "Thank god that's done!" way.
Best Afrikaans ever😂 go Will!
LOL the African labor joke got me
3 of the 4 wind directions had me on the floor. Really cool video. Niels traveling again...
This is the content I love and I hope your getting back to. Love to see blacksmith work
I'm glad to see you survived the visit from Neels.
Hell yeah! Will and Neels in one video!! making knives and even some Afrikaans spoken by Will. You guys made my day!
Tfw Will actually gives metric measurements. Great video and work!
Tiny hammering? Slavery joke? 😂 I wish I could sub twice for off brand humor. Will for life.
Always enjoy your content Will!
The chemistry between you two 😁
Welkom in de werkwinkel? As a Dutch guys afrikaans souns so weird because its clearly Dutch but also its not. Anyway Great video! Love to see more colabs with Niels he's clearly a fun guy
This was too much fun, amazing!!!!
Editing and music 👍👍👍
You and Kyle Royer both posted 1 day knife builds within minutes of eachother!
Neels' laugh is so wonderful! And I'm not even a minute into the video! 😂
Edit: I'm 10 minutes in now and Neels is just hilarious! 🤣🤣🤣
that intro WAS LEGENDARY!!!
What clay substance were you using for achieving the hamon?
I can easily make a one day chef knife.
In about a month
I enjoyed the "what does kg mean" thing, but I'm glad with the translation to mm for us international fans.
This should be a Steele vs Stelter next time Alec is back in town....on Will's turf.
I looked down for a bit while watching your video and was listening and then looked up to see your dog in your lap and thought you were doing a hair cutting sharpness test on the dog. (17:21). LOL
Awesome video. And Neels is a fantastic smith and it was great to see how well you guys get on
Been waiting for a video !! I check everyday 🤣
Ah lekker man - dis so lekker om die taal te hoor ;-)
I know you're a professional, but every time you swing your fingers around the business end of a blade, I get the chills. 🙂
Great video again Will! Thank you. 👍😁
The man version of a witch is a witch. Isaiah is a witch, a practitioner of witchcraft.
Te lekker gelag vir die intro xD
Ja né! Lekker om bietjie Afrikaans te hoor
Next time Neels is in the shop, make a chef's dagger or at least your idea of what it should look like.
that would be cool xD
an oyster knife with an S type cross guard and a fluted handle
So a Pearing knife?
I second the motion!
Would you consider doing a video talking about the uses and benefits of big and small power hammers, and what the benefits of a hammer versus a press are when forging if you haven't already done something like that.
What are you using for clay to make your hamon?
satanite works
Great content thanks for sharing
This is the way
This is so awesome. Dare you exploit Neels.
What in the world is that little hammer used for at 19:21 ?? That's a tiny planishing hammer. ;)
Love watching neels live video dagger builds the man is a genius
Almost my whole Instagram feed was seen heard or mentioned in this video hahaha
I love watching these even when I know nothing about blacksmithing. So why did the blade crack?
With gas running out. It may have not been hot enough, especially when trying to get it done under constraint?
Like the clock for reference for us viewers
Would love to see how this turns out.
Afrikaans for the win
Awesome, lekker neels
I missed your message, just saw it, but don't have telegram
I love that even though neels is in wills shop he still has his trademark smoke going in the shop. If he hadn't been smoking I would have said this was a clone or a look a like person lol
Lyk goed Neels: Gratis Africa arbeid- Nice collaboration with Will
Were you quenching the W2 in water? I’ve been cracking my W1 when I add a hamon but it’s too soft when I harden in oil. Interested in what is working for you.

5:51 to 5:59 🤣🤣🤣
Can someone explain the difference between hitting the workpiece and using the press? Why use both?
Good job.
Is this real?
hey Neels!
Great filming. 👍👍 Make's for a very nice video.
Oh that’s the sound of Monday with you scraping the steel and I was cringing at the sound of it 😩😖😭 but amazing job with the knives and commiseration’s on your friends knife breaking 😱🤕
Please change the video title to "We fail at making two multiple day chef's knives" suites it better.
Hope you have fun in India hope you get to see how they blacksmith.
When are you going to make a Morakniv? Just asking...
I want to buy a knife and sword from you someday. Thanks for letting us share in your learning process.
This is why we don't make blades in a hurry. Each step must be deliberate and intentional. Go too fast and mistakes happen.
Hey Will, Mav needs a new chef knife.
Collab o’clock 👌
Now, 13:14 could you grind that, weld it, and make into a "imperfect feature"?
Welkom in die werkswinkel!...jy praat mooi Afrikaans.
Lol.. good “labor” joke 🤪🤦🏻♂️😂
Do the Forged in Fire challenge thing.
I’d like to see you build a BBQ knife set

Try a hot oil quench
My language…whaaaat!!!! In die werk winkel pappie
On this week's episode of "Can Will Stelter Catch a Fucking Break?": Nah, not really.
Hahahaha, Neels...... Wees nou eerlik....
Dis nie wat jy wou sê toe daai lem n skoot van sy eie aftrek nie 😅
Kinda funny that the sponsor is all about microwaving meals which would mean you would never need to use a chef's knife
Overall, I rate this video an 8/10. Content was great but audio balancing was way off. Hand to constantly adjust my volume.
The dot dit it for me.
Poor dog. He's thinking he's going to get forged.
LOL! "welcome to the workshop" in Afrikaans!
INDIA You are COMING TO INDIA,OMG 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
If I buy the meal boxes I won't need to buy a $2,000 chef's knife. :(
Sometimes the world's got plans for us that we hadn't counted on.
Weird...only getting to this now because I checked, TH-cam is apparently playing silly buggers with notifications again
Thank you for converting inches into cm and mm. It makes your videos much easier to understand for us europeans. Love your content Will
👍👍👍🍻🍻🍻
That stiletto dagger looks really practical and useful!
7:31 Careful not to get demonetized. 😅
He didn't say bliksem even once.
Its not cracked ...
... it has a serration.
He could have done a 1day paring knife.
Lekker om 'n afrikaner op die channel te sien.
OMW haha, Love your SA accent ( semi german ) but good try.
I have a question: Can the hamon be any design such as using letters? It would be funny to make a knife with a hamon that said 'Send Nudes' in cursive. You can probably have one word on each side of the knife.
I don't think so? I think you'd run into warping problem from differential heating/cooling during heat-treat.
Worse stuff about bad guys is they think they're actually the good guys
