    Is it my imagination
    Or have we finally signed a player worth waiting for
    I was looking for Rob Lainton
    But all I found was McNicholas and Okonkwo
    You could wait for a lifetime
    To sign a keeper in his prime
    He dominates on the goal line
    Coz when the shot comes in
    You gotta save it Arthur
    You gotta save it Arthur
    You gotta save it Arthur
    You gotta save it Arthur

      I asked for The Book of Okonkwo to be resurrected, I even made a suggestion, but now my ears are bleeding and I'm wondering if maybe I should just start reading the transcript instead!

    Even on £15k a week as a base that just under £1M a season for 3 years (before taxes)….he could easily be worth £10-£15M transfer in 2 years if he preforms like he did last season

    Great interview and great view behind the dockuseries, thanks! One thing I kept thinking while watching this series was that it was undertold. I know there were more stories both on and off the field and I know it would have made good TV. I’m hoping that you can put some of it together and put it out as shorts like the United/Argentina story. I also think if you get enough content the people would watch it so don’t limit the show to a set length, limit it to the content and stories you can tell.

    Am I the only person that really, really liked the axel foley Okonkwo song Tim came up with? Its only problem is that the range is a little wide. Everything other than that makes it perfect. Way better than Tequila

    Very, very good guest. Very good insights without spoiling the magic. Kind of a Penn & Teller moment where showing you how the magic is done brings you closer without truly killing the mystery.

    Just as Rocky had to lose in the first movie - the Book of Okonkwo is a journey of ups and downs. This needs to be the end of the second act, where it looks like all is lost.

    Guest is 50/50 on Okonkwo signing?? Woof! Classic case of “think small be small” mindset……R&R are not “think small” guys, the team has and will reflect R&R’s “think big” attitude, people should get used to that.

    Do we know the value and structure of the contract? I love Okonkwo but was concerned that the club was too attached and would overpay for the position relative to the need. Glad you all talked about that at the beginning

    • @BruceMcFarling

      One point is, since the path to promotion either this season OR next season may run through the playoffs, it may all come down to penalties. We might be glad in that situation to have "overinvested" a touch in the GK position.

    It was jaw-dropping to hear Arthur say with a straight face that his goal was back to back to back promotion to the Championship! Okay, with him I can believe it's possible but really, it might be better to finish top half and consolidate before going up again so that our chances of staying up are greater. Has anyone ever done b2b2b before?

    • @mjg2008121

      No. No one has ever done that in the EFL. It's a long shot and nobody expects it... but it just might be possible. Just might, and what a story that would be

    • @BruceMcFarling

      Goal & expectation are two different things ... but note that he didn't put a pin on direct promotion, including going up through the playoff, where a 6th place finish and a lottery draw in the playoff is more plausible than entering League 1 and finishing champions or runner up.

    • @JayNYC212

      There were quite a few clubs that refused, Luini was referring to a specific one that asked for a ton of money and he was glad didn’t achieve promotion.

    People keep bringing up The Wage Structure, did they have one in reality?
    They've only mentioned that they assess transfers based on the immediate and future value to the club.

      Love how tim is Timothy okonkwo today

    • @brianeleighton

      They have always had a wage structure. Transfer fees don't really impact wage structure except in the profit/loss statements the club has to submit to the league. The wage structure is what all the players make week to week and is far more important to the club. Ryan and Rob can provide cash injections to pay transfer fees. The players wages by rule aren't allowed to exceed 60% of the club's revenues next season or we run afoul of the EFL's profit and sustainability rules.

    • @BruceMcFarling

      @@brianeleighton But I expect that when the accounts for the last year are released, we'll see that with Wrexham's revenues, 60% of club's revenues are not a normal League 1 wage structure, but closer to a bottom half of the Championship wage structure.

    • @brianeleighton

      @@BruceMcFarling Of course. That is the inbuilt advantage that Shaun was talking to Rob and Ryan about in Season 2 of the documentary. That doesn't change that the club needs to be smart about how they use the advantage...which is where our wage structure comes into it.

    • @BruceMcFarling

      @@brianeleighton Yes, I was not saying there is no wage structure, I was just saying that with their likely revenue stream, they are more looking at a lower Championship wage bill being sustainable, eg so taking on a Championship level wage for GK#1 is not unreasonable, especially for a younger GK with substantial capital gain opportunities. They surely have a big splash hire to come, since the last signing affecting the squad limit brought them to 21 field players over 20 years old, and possibly more, to be accompanied by some players being lent out, and there will be plenty of opportunity to argue whether those signings are too risky, but IMV Arthur is a sound investment.
