Hi
You should make a video about the USS Johnson
First Badger now you and Matt.😂
Do the Do335 or XP55 please
"And they did all that without a single drop of rum!" --Jack Sparrow's reaction, probably
But they had ice cream
Why is the rum gone !?!?!?!?!
they had torpedo juice. look it up, they actually got drunk off it.
@@glasons4234 My exact sentiment. Meanwhile I'm sitting here still sipping a 16oz can of Barrel-Aged Yeti.
@@jacobe2995 especially those sailors who were manning those (early-edition) speed, attack boats - one of which, President J.F.K was the officer commanding. I mean, I do imagine that they weren't, exclusively, the only ones - in the entire Navy - who were doing that process (of, first, distilling that Torpedo juice, & then filtering it through a loaf of bread). I'm just saying that it is documented & recorded - from multiple, personal accounts - that those of the early attack, speed boats; were notoriously known for doing so. Hence, most likely, the ones who were doing it the most.
12:04 Ship to Ship thrown Melee weapon kill is real main character energy.
some real Mad Jack Churchill energy, that one.
imagine trying to field report that back to your command
@@LtVictorThe empty shell casing kill in addition to the knife kill probably caused the reader of the report to be like that meme of the guy in the powdered wig. Looking at a paper carefully then looking at the viewer 😂
Epic.
USS Borie lands on the sub:
U-boat: "What are you doing Step-ship?"
Borie: Getting this knife kill achievement
"Oh no step-ship, not there!" - u-boat
Aint no way💀
The internet was a mistake
I too was thinking achievement unlocked lol
Is that your 4in guns, step-boat???
My great grandfather was on that ship James Allegri one of the proudest moments I have of my great grandmother is her telling me the story of the Boris’s last battle.
Maybe i'm wrong but the look on Captain Hutchins face as they are pinning a medal on him is one of sorrow because all of his men did'nt come home. Several veterans i have met over the years say you wear the medals for the people that can't. Great video keep up the awesome work Nick hope you have a speedy recovery.
Was rewatching Herreras’ content cause I was bored, and you know what’s better than old Herrera content? Seven second old FatElectrician content.
Gotta agree with you there
You just like me fr
the marble Olympics channel is better than that bs
That sweet sweet 23 second old content.
Shut up I’m drunk
Fat Electrician out here bringing the limelight to parts of history I honestly never knew about. Kudos dude.
Which parts of history are you being dishonest about knowing about?
While wounded.
@ Somebody get this man a purple heart.
This guy makes history way less boring lol
You didn't know about world war II?
My Uncle was Chief Quartmaster of the Borie. Thank you for covering this.
Oh wow, was he onboard when this engagement took place?
That is crazy
Did the commanding quartermaster back at the port ask him to explain how everything was thrown at he U boat?? He could have to account for that!
@@RighteousReverendDynamite "Where did that 1 kitchen knife go!!!"
Thank you for this. It's nice to see Navy getting some love from you. RIP USS Borie and crew.
That knife kill was insane. This whole incident was crazy and if it were a movie you'd be hard pressed to believe it, yet it did happen. Another spectacular case of truth being more wild than fiction.
if it were a movie hollywood would refuse to include the knife kill because its “not believable”
@@snache1330 a whole 5 min section and foreshadowing of the guy getting ready with even the shell casing knocking a guy overboard. only for a really well placed throw to nail a dude.. yea it would be written off as hollywood stuffs LOL
The most badass naval engagement was when the destroyer U.S.S. Johnston yelled Leroy Jenkins and charged a Japanese battle fleet led by 4 battle ships, one of which was Yamato class, 8 cruisers and 11 destroyers. You cannot convince me otherwise. To quote rear admiral Samuel Morrison "In no engagement in its entire history has the U.S. Navy shown more galantry, guts, and gumption than in the two morning hours between 0730 and 0930 off Samar"
Not a Yamato class BB, it was the freaking Yamato!
Yo dude. Hands down the most righteous description of that action. “Leroyyyyyyy Jennnnnkinnnns!” Just got done leaving a comment for him to do a vid on that.
@1992AC I thought one of the Japanese sources I read stated it was Musashi, maybe I misremembered
And dont forget, they fought so hard and were such badasses that instead of finishing them off, the Japanese had a destroyer roll on by and salute the Johnston as it sank and with the crew in the life rafts.
That is how much the Japanese respected the mad lads of the Johnston, that they HAD to send someone by to show how much they respected them for doing that crazy stuff.
@Texas_montantero musashi was sunk in the San Bernardino strait days before. It was Yamato Nagato Kongo and Kirishima
In 1951, a Utah National Guard artillery unit of 240 soldiers stood alone against 4,000 enemy Chinese and North Korean soldiers. Surrounded and outmanned, the small band fought valiantly and won the battle without the loss of a single soldier. For their bravery, the unit received the Presidential Unit Citation from U.S. President Harry Truman. Please make a video about this
Would love a video on this to think I heard or read something about it years ago definitely needs more spotlight

Great story. Come to think of it, that might be a good way for dude to farm content. Just look up presidential unit citations.
@alexmanion5389 hahahaha yeah
I mean it's about Americans bodieing commies
I wish my grandfather and his friends were around to see how decades after they are gone, generations later, they are being honored.
Thanks for sharing this great story. I was stationed in Portland Oregon and rode the U.S.S. Rogers DD876 for 6 years. It was a Fletcher Class Destroyer. Many great times were had on board Her. We were a Reserve trainer. We traveled to Astoria Oregon via the Columbia River. We Picked up the reserves and crossed (some would say) the worst river bar in the world to empty our bilges and fire off the 5" 38 guns. The main mission was to have causality control drills, and pour some drunkin sailor money in to the Astoria economy once a month. Best Duty in the fleet. BT 2nd class Newman.
Native Oregonian here. The mouth of the Columbia is well known for her voracious appetite for ships. If you google "worst river bar in the world" all the results are the Columbia Bar. The river continuously dumps a tremendous amount of energy into the location, even after over 60 dams have tried to extract as much energy as they can from it without destroying the surrounding ecosystems. The Columbia is a great example of "mother nature does not fuck around."
Edit because I forgot to mention: thank you for your hard work out there. I'm glad you derived so much satisfaction from it. Having been rescued by the California coast guard a few years ago, I know all too well how many lives depend on navy and coast guard service members. You deserve everything good that comes to you.
Great show. Love watching and listening to you telling these historical stories.
9:06 The equipment did not malfunction. The machine spirit realized they where just off course, and corrected by upping the yield.

@fatelectrician you would like the story of Col. Charles Askins. First guy to get a confirmed kill with a .44magnum, was killing commis in Vietnam with a lever gun! Room clearing with .44-40’s in ww2, started out as a border patrol agent getting in gunfights every week during prohibition etc erc. Truly the last great American gunfighter
Never even heard of this sounds like it's right up his alley
Also havent heard of this but im all in!!!
I'm very interested myself. I hope Nick does a video on him. Thanks for suggesting it. Much appreciated!
Was not expecting the Battlefield Friends reference at 12:34. So much nostalgia!
Dip dip potato chip!
Colonel 💯 approved 👌
me either im suprised theres not many comments about it
I had this on and had to go back to make sure I heard correctly.
RIP Thick44.
I love that you used a clip from BFF! Love your episodes. I have been told that once men reach their 30s, they get into 1 of 3 things; smoking meats, running, or we become wartime buffs. Thanks to finding you on TikTok I have become a wartime buff. You make history fun, haha!
I was so excited to see you as a Warship commander. Am saving your crew slot for when i unlock the USS Iowa. Unless another American battleship is satisfactory
Every time you say "voluntold" I flash back to my dad, a staff sergeant in 87ID at the Bulge, saying to his kids, "I need two volunteers, (pointing) you and you." Your content is great. Your delivery is inspired and inspiring. Keep on keepin' on!
😂 had Dad like also
Best of what is still left of there love and fortitude to you
If “warheads on foreheads” isn’t a voice line I will be devastated 😂
Lmaooooo 😂😂😂
"Men when we go into battle tomorrow just remember, its never a war crime the first time."
RIP those 27. Never forgotten.
They died for Bolshevism
As the token Shellback from the USS Kitty Hawk aka the USS International Incident here I always love your Sea Stories from the Land Sailor Series.
A little known fact, a PUC is awarded by someone from the President's Cabinet, the VP, or even the CiC. It's more than kinda of a big deal. It's a huge big deal. They award every crew member in a big ol' ceremony and give the ship's Captain authorization to fly the PUC pennant.
Brother just hit us with one of the coolest sponsorship deal collabs in the history of the universe and expects us just to be like “oh yeah that’s cool” like my man this is epic!!
Right??? I had to tell my husband he needs to load this game so I can see this!
@@JPhipps2001 i need to download the game now lol
Lol yeah, that just sold me on picking it up
It’s cool and the games free to play.
But it’s pay to win/ have any amount of fun. It’s also incredibly unrealistic and full of children.
But it is cool, and I can’t blame a guy for putting food on his families table
To bad it's just a games desperate attempt to bring back players after they ruined the it on purpose.
I like to imagine the "Do not board the boat" part was quickly followed by him naming a specific guy he knew would try it.
"That means you, Steve!"
Definitely a few sailors who were thinking, 'But we are the boarding party'
Yeah and Steve be like, "Well fuck --- Johnson, fetch me some more Thompson ammo!"
😂 guaranteed he saw steve climbing the rails when he said it to😂
You can almost hear the cursing before and after he gave the order.😂
*Steve with a dagger between his teeth* "Ah shucks!...."
@The Fat Electrician - Nic, you're literally the best at "resurfacing" these truly awesome stories and telling them. Keep up the great work man. It's much appreciated.
And sinking deep into these stories.
The depth of these puns is unfathomable.
12:01 Not only was it a ship to submarine knife kill, it was a throwing knife kill. A true 1 of 1 moment, proud to be an American
Got my commanders in WoW the other day! First time a game I play collabed with a relevant creator. Love the vids!
I just found your channel not to long ago as a Navy man I would have to say. The unluckiest ship in the navy was the funniest video I’ve ever seen in my life. Keep them coming thank you..
Not a single 4 stacker destroyer (wickes and Clemson class) was preserved after the war. 273 ships, many serving valiantly, and not one was preserved. Any type of media about them is so fantastic as it’s the only recognition they can get now.
There is one stuck in the mud on the American river, north of San Francisco. I have always wanted to see it restored. People respond, " It's rusted out." But, we built the damn thing. We can rebuild it.
Yo, I unlocked you in World of Warships as a captain. Been playing it for years, glad to see your collaboration. I’ve only played one battle with you in my Tennessee. I’m hoping at some point, to hear you tell me to keep it proportional.
how'd you get it to work? it's a invite code so I can't use it on my account.
Extra "proportional"
"Americas petty you fucked with our boats propare to die" is now one of my favorite quotes
Someday do a presentation on the USS Buckley. In 1944 it also got into a cage fight with a U-boat along side her. What made their ocean melee unique is the U-Boat crew attempted to board and capture the Buckley. Now imagine the reaction of the Buckley's crew when they heard over the speaker their Captain announce: "Prepare to repel boarders!"
Loved the Neebs Gaming Battlefield Friends cameo.
I looked for this
I've found my people!
Battlefield Friends lives on in our hearts.
I think Neebs just got an unofficial promotion by being featured.
@@calibrated692 I can hear him screaming about it from here.
I skipped Brandon Herrera’s video for this
Same
😂
Brandon had a video out too? Fuck yeah I'll watch that after this
Same who cares about politics when I can watch a fat man with a broken titty teach me about ww2
SAME
Great video, as always. I'd like to recognize Fluck for his efforts. It's a little thing, but flipping the direction of the swastika (time stamp 7:14) as Count Rugen flees is just *chef's kiss*. You didn't need to do it but it's much cooler the you did. Take a bow, sir!
🫡
I was going to comment the same thing lol
nice touch
Nick, did I get banned from COMMENTING???
Speedy recovery fat electrician and asa always great video
WOW! Our Navy is OUTSTANDING! Thanks for this report as I'm certain no one else would report.
Amazing as usual. I’m fascinated with learning everything. I never thought this kind of history would interest me, but it really is fascinating but I really do think it has everything to do with the presence, personality, and presentation of the presenter. Thank you. Sending you love and prayers for a fast, safe, happy and healthy recovery.
Good ole throwback to the old shorter form style and my god, and Quality does NOT drop.
Still don’t miss big man 🎯
“Turned into a giant game of whack-a-German.” Hilarious.
I literally burst out laughing at the ship name dd-214 😂. That’s pure gold.
I had to rewind to the beginning of the ad to make sure I wasn't hearing things, like my Tinnitus 😂🤣
Seeing the NeebsGaming meme around 12:32 absolutely made my day. Love Battlefield Friends.
As a creator, narrator, indeed your entire channel front to back, is simply masterful. You tell fantastic stories about great people who served, and you do it in a way that the viewer is pulled into the story, riveted. In a time in society where the future of the US is teetering on self-destruction, brave beyond belief stories of true heroes, principled men of honor, is gratefully and profoundly appreciated. Thank you.
Sorry to hear about your pec muscle tear. After heart surgery, I had something similar, they had to filet both pec muscles and sew them across the sternum bone to get blood flow to it. Now the nerves in both pec muscles are all jacked up. I hope you dont have to go through that (the jacked up nerves, it sucks) once you are all healed up. Wishing you a speedy and full recovery. Love your content and history lessons. You would make an awesome high school or college history instructor. Keep up the good work brother. 🫡🤘🏻😎
Love everything you create. Your videos are definitely the highlight of my week and make any day instantly better. Keep up the great work!
Bro I absolutely love this mans story glad your covering it :)
best place to learn real american history
This isn't the most gangster naval brawl ever, this is quite literally Mortal Kombat on the seas, Jesus.
I recently found out my (40) dad (70 something) watches your videos. I need a compolation video or something when my family visits for holiday (the end of December one).
It be a joy to sit around drinking whiskey listening to you fir a couple hours with the old man. Likely after all the girls go to bed
Brandon Herrera for head of ATF
He'd definitely get my vote
I sec that 😂
Nobody should be in charge if an organization that has no Constitutional authority to exist.
It is, in fact, against the Constitution.
@@joelspaulding5964 but if the position exists, we should have somebody that actually knows what they’re talking about in that position
"Prepare for RAMMING SPEED!"
Worf would've liked that.
Bruce McGill is still my go-to for "RAMMING SPEED!"
*Hey, Electrician!*
*Could you cover Ephraim McLean Brank, the Kentucky Long Rifleman?* He’s an NC-born Kentuckian who took on an entire British column! The British soldiers in their memoir described him more as a force of nature than as a man!
Intriguing
Watched this on Pepperbox but coming here to watch it again so it keeps up with the TH-cam algorithm.
One of the greatest parts of being a truck driver is that no matter where im at, when Fat Electrician posts a new video, its time to pull over and learn something!
Awesome history lesson as always, what I love about your videos is that you not only find cool stories but rather than just read them off a page your energy draws us in. I love history especially when it is as masterfully told as your videos are.
The DD214.. that tickles me to no end
Man, I didn't catch that.
"What ship is coming?"
"The DD214!"
"Awesome, I'm done with this fight anyways."
Ramming in a modern ship battle is like knifing somebody in a gun fight.
Like… it can happen. But… damn.
And to top it all off, somebody actually did get knifed in the ensuing gun fight.
Are we all going to acknowledge the fact tfe is the teacher our future generation needs to teach the real stuff schools dont teach??
I bought a painting of a pirate ship like a month ago and it got delivered like an hour before this video dropped. Impecable timing.
Thank you so much for sharing so many fascinating and unknown stories!! I share them with my grandchildren!!
Bittersweet stories like this, noting the bravery and sacrifice of those engaged in battle is often times the best reminder of something little thought of by those I talk to. Those that serve do so, understanding that they may not go out in a blaze of glory, but rather shivering feeling all alone despite being victorious.
0:52 Silly Electrician!
The Bismarck isn’t a coral reef! The deep sea of the North Atlantic is too cold to support such an ecosystem!
*It’s just a hunk of calcified scrap metal now!*
There are surprisingly corals in the North Atlantic.
😂😂😂 valid point
It was a joke dude.
@@pvccannon1966 Yeah, a joke to a joke. You okay, or is breathing surprisingly harder today?
You forgot the "Buh!".
Why has a film not been made about this event and how have I never heard about it before? This is the most badass story of US Naval combat I’ve ever heard.
I’d love nothing more than a Fat Electrician video on the Action off Samar. Daily Wires telling of the story is incredibly powerful.
Some E4s: **getting ready to board and S.T.E.A.L. shit**
Hutchins: "Do not board the enemy vessel!"
E4s: "Aww... Should we do it anyway? Nah, it's cold out."
Never gotten to a Fat Electrician video this early. Great stories as always.
Been on World of Warships for almost 10 years and you being added was a huge highlight for me and your my only voice in battle moving forward.
Sorry to hear about the injury - hope you heal super fast! THAT SAID, just had to say you are the best damned storyteller out here! Loved this video & all your stuff :D
Again, I absolutely love your videos and the fact that you threw in a Neebs Gaming Battlefield Friends reference just makes this video that much cooler.
This has become my favorite channel.. I should have enlisted. That’s living right there
Not all heroes enlist. Be a bad MF with a heart of gold and you're basically there.
You are my favorite narrator of history , there are others that do good jobs but the way you speak with conviction has a way of putting me right in the middle of the fight . Your a Modern day Louie Lamor or Mark Twain. They are my favorite because how they can transport me into the story.
Thanks and keep kicking ass
i love that TFE knows BFFs, it was not an expected bit but a welcome one.

Sorry to hear about your injury, here's wishing you a speedy recovery. Also nice touch with the speech from JFK at the end, considering he was speaking from personal experience as the Captain of PT-109 during WW2.
Just remember, you can still salute Brandon with the left jand, even if you cannot offer a double salute...
Heal up fast brother. Awesome info as always.
