To put it in perspective for americans who love NFL, most of these guys are similar to tight-ends and big wide receivers. They are incredibly athletic, with a vertical leap upwards of 3 feet and run more than 10 miles a game. The hits are hard, and there is no padding.
In case there's any non-aussies out there, the mark at 6:50 needs explanation...this was the grand final (aust. superbowl equivelant), his team are 4 points up, with about 5 seconds to go. It was in the other teams forward area. If the other team marked, they would kick after the siren to win the championship. He marks, and wins his team the championship for the first time in 70 years...THAT'S why it's so great!
Chris Tarrant. The mark was a shoe-in for mark of the year in 2001 until Gary Moorcroft of Essendon took what was just about the biggest hanger of all time against the Western Bulldogs later that season.
great work as i know its hard to get all the marks in i'm appreciating for what it is and for the others that have a go at you i wonder where their videos are?
RU also sometimes has some impressive aerial catches, but they're nowhere near as common as these amazing AFL jumps/marks. It all boils down to the rules of the game.
No Trevor Barker, and no Nick Riewoldt, No Brendon Goddard (GF v Coll 2010) No Tony Lockett No Jeremy Howe (Melb/Coll) ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? Admittedly, I am a St Kilda person, however those players deserve some recognition for their marking prowess.
Nick Riewoldt and Wayne Carey took marks in their careers which were almost carbon copies of the one that Brown took and they didn't get on here, so I really don't know what's the difference.
The mark is great feature of the aussie rules game, but it makes the game stop start. They were trying to introduce into gaelic football, but it didn't work. Some things work in some games ,but not in others.Take the mark out of aussie rules you completely change the game.Just shows you what a great game this is compared to this international rules muck series recently in ireland
Not to mention his body on body ones that he took against some of the best full backs during his time, including Stephen Silvagni, Michael Martyn, Danny Frawley, and Chris Langford.
+Newyorkrangersfan0623 Nah, if a player completes a mark inside the goal or boundary line, it counts as a mark. so as long as he didn't fumble the ball over the line its still a mark. and he can go back and have a set shot for goal. Or he could have just let the ball go through for a goal . but id take mark of the century too if i had the chance.

quality of mark plus pressure of situation = Leo Barry you starrr!!!

Great collection - music not too loud, nice editing. What a great game aussie rules is...!!
They're all great. I especially like the Brett Burton for athleticism and the Jonathan Brown one for courage. Both truly spectacular.
I get tingles whenever I see that Leo Barry mark and I don't even go for the Swans
as an eagles fan that mark will go down as the most heartbreaking mark i have ever witnessed.
Those are good ones
Chris Tarrant. The mark was a shoe-in for mark of the year in 2001 until Gary Moorcroft of Essendon took what was just about the biggest hanger of all time against the Western Bulldogs later that season.
Is shows true sportsmanship when nathan brown took that mark the hawthorn player was even checking to see if he was all right :D
JESAULENKOOOOOOOOOO!!!! YOU BEAUTYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!

American footballer: American football is better than AFL!

Modra. One of the best markers ever
"WHAT A MARK, WILL HE EVER COME DOWN??!!!" lmao, i love the commentators :D great stuff!
Brett Burton: Marked the ball. Missed the goal.
Brett Allison and one of Careys running back with the flight of the ball as well. And Modra against NM over Archer.
2008, there have been some good marks since then

i dont know whats better, the marks or the commentators reactions XD
As much as there's a few missing from this, finishing it with a classic 'Ohh Jesaulenko you beautyyy!!' is a good call.
Best till last

Nice!
Jeff Farmer just climbed up Gary's back hair.
micky martin featured pretty heavily at the bottom of a lot of those packs

Amazing - springs for legs.
6:50 is the best...LEO BARRY YOU STAR!!
great work as i know its hard to get all the marks in i'm appreciating for what it is and for the others that have a go at you i wonder where their videos are?
Determination = Brown at 3:50
Pressure = Leo Barry
Best Mark = Shaun Smith (not shown!!!)
Brownie is an awesome player! Tarrant tho some great marks but not as dominant up forward as he is a gun defender these days!
RU also sometimes has some impressive aerial catches, but they're nowhere near as common as these amazing AFL jumps/marks. It all boils down to the rules of the game.
far out some of the marks you see today are nothing compared to the 80s-90s
Naitanui.
Nick Reiwoldt?
2-3 seconds of epic airtime and marking.
a few weeks of pain to follow xD
do you have any idea of how how heartbreaking it was too be and eagles fan in 2005, Thanks leo barry, ruined my year :)
Someone needs to teach Jim about cricket.

i teared up wen nic natanui wasn't up there or daniel curr wtf man??
Moorcroft best mark ever..period! im mean he broke his hip doing it...
nice vid good to see jezza in there :)
Wrong Burton mark - his screamer against Carlton 29th August 2009 has been widely hailed as mark of the century.
Gary moorcraft?!
I agree. I was waiting for that one too. One of the most amazing. And that's coming from a Collingwood person.
well Australia is AWESOME
Ablett mark wasn't held long enough
6:50 makes me sad
love it how the black fellas jump like 2 metres into the air and land on their feet....
they do it properly lol!
Jonathan Browns was the best when it comes to courage :)
Nick Riewoldt and Wayne Carey took marks in their careers which were almost carbon copies of the one that Brown took and they didn't get on here, so I really don't know what's the difference.
You cannot count that one 5:09 he only got 6 inches of the ground with those little legs
Aaron edwards says hi
Godra!!!!
and then Jeremy Howe was born
you must be high if gary moorcroft is not in this vid that was one of the greatest marks ever
ANY MATE, REMEMBER. 'HALL' ?
The mark is great feature of the aussie rules game, but it makes the game stop start. They were trying to introduce into gaelic football, but it didn't work. Some things work in some games ,but not in others.Take the mark out of aussie rules you completely change the game.Just shows you what a great game this is compared to this international rules muck series recently in ireland
GLAD JEZZA was last as it still is the BEST
peter Bruce Photo USA
Its a big call but that mark by Modra while farting on Micky Martins head was a joy to watch. What about Sean Smiths grab that time.
5:48 he double jumped

GODRA!

Not to mention his body on body ones that he took against some of the best full backs during his time, including Stephen Silvagni, Michael Martyn, Danny Frawley, and Chris Langford.

U cant have best marks video without having Warrick capper on it...
No Ablett Snr vs Collingwood either...
Shaun Smith??? C'mon son!
But if it was called a mark it's a mark
wheres ablett...
1:08 was this called touched behind or a goal
Dunno
+Newyorkrangersfan0623 neither, it was a mark?
+srdodem but the ball went behind the goal posts, so it would be behind because he was holding it.
+srdodem notice how he marks the ball cleanly inside the field of play before if goes through the goals. therefore a mark.
This must be very old
+Ryan Isherwood no shit it was made in 2008. look at the upload date
