We had, way back in 1988, an AutoSleepers model CXL on a Fiat. It was virtually the same layout and quality of woodwork. Piano hinges etc. on main doors to bathroom and so on. We travelled and worked from it for three years all over Europe. We did all kinds of work, bar, cleaning, cooking and waiting on, all odd jobs from the van. It was our home full time. Nothing wore out, nothing broke, upholstery etc very good and we covered some 60, 000 miles in that time. The Fiat of that era was super reliable but not rust free !. Since then have had numerous vans including a Winnebago, Hymer and Rapido. None of those were better than the AutoSleepers for quality and fun !. Age has caught up with us but we look back happily on our CXL, this is so similar it made us feel quite nostalgic. Thankyou.
You are never too old I was in Whitby in my Bambi Sand Field farm . Next to me a van pulled up . Out came a lovely couple. Hi how are you I said we are ok going into Whitby later today and have fish and chips. This couple are 85 years young. All they do every year is go away in there camper . He told me it keeps up young and active. Lovely couple. So get on the road 😊👍.
Lovely van. Your little sleeper is full of goodies all tucked nicely and full so many amenities. The full-size oven/cooker/stove is awesome, along with the bathroom extension. Europeans/Brits definitely have that compact/multiple use models down pat. I'd love to find something like that for traveling around America for some time. Thank you for your video.
Thank you Sarah Just bought the Same Camper van-- Dealer not as Help full as your Tour round the Van Lot more confident having watched your Video three Times now I know what I have -- I've Tested all systems with your help pleased with what I bought now ( he never mentioned removing cover for Hot water ) Cheers Mick A
You have uploaded probably what is the best ever tour of a motorhome that TH-cam has ever had , I am now tempted into buying the one like you have , also you have a very nice calming voice indeed and a fine manner - you should be on the radio !... Regards from Dewsbury in the dark north of England :-)
Wow, what a cute & very cozy little camper van! One thing we Americans have trouble with, is the steering wheel being on the right side of the vehicle, but I love this campervan so much, I don't think that would be a prob for me! Great interior design for the limited space available! Cheers to you & your little doggy!
This is fascinating! It really blows my mind that they managed to fit so many features in such a small van... they didn't skip a single detail to make it just as versatile as a full-sized RV! I really don't understand why they don't make vans like this in the US. Also... as one of the only Peugeot owners in my area, this only adds to my envy and frustration! lol
Mines the 2 litre diesel like yours with a different layout. It's 1992 but still a great little camper. The drivers seat on mine swivels around also making for a roomy layout in a small van. I also have the diesel heater ( Eberspacher ) they're great! Thanks for showing us your little gem Sarah.
Ok so I have to say that this is one of the best layouts I have ever seen. I have been watching videos about campervan conversion for a while and trying to figure out how to make my own one. But there is always that shower/toilet room problem. Or it is too big and takes too much space or too small. This is nice van 👍👍👍
Thank you Sarah. You pointed out loads of things in your van that haven't been shown in other videos I've seen. I'm keen to buy one of these when I take early retirement in a couple of years.....Can't wait! lol 😁
+Sarah Fenn my dream is to live the free life in a small bus , my life won't be complete until that happens , I know most people think I'm crazy but that's cool .
I really like your video. You're a nice voice and crisp pronunciation (loved the accent, too). If, one day, you decided to have your own read audio-books please inform me ;)
Charming. I have had my 2002 Symbol since new, it does not look like much changed between 2002 and 2005, the water heater looks different, thats about it. I love my van but the 2.0 HDi engine is weak. I toured in it for 2 months once and the van lacks nothing.
Cute camper! I love the fact that you have a stove and OVEN!! In America, you basically can forget about finding an oven in such a small camper...I just don't get it.
Wow is this a model brand sold in the US? Id love to see more vehicle with this style bathroom but still a separate bed area. I also like the division between the front & back
I have seen a couple living in a Symphony (same brand, just a bench instead of a foldable passenger seat on the driver side) they sleep perpendicular to the road and seem to have ample space.
This seems to lose the storage under the couch portion as compared to the symphony. Do you at least have storage under the convertible portion of the couch when in single seat mode?
Hi Che. Thanks for the comment! On the driver's side, when the rear travel seat is set up as a chair, there's no space underneath as that's where the water heater is located. However, when it's set up as a bench there's quite a large space underneath for gear.
I'm with you on that 100 percent! Closest we ever get to this are 20 foot long V8 powered gas-suckers, or 20+ year old Astro conversion vans with no appliances of any kind. If everyone's so obsessed with being more efficient, they should really take a hint from other countries! lol
First time potential van owners here .... loved the video, thanks for taking the time to put it together ... We have been looking at the A/S Symbol (standard) ... the ES .. is it the same size (length and width?) You have yours looking really cosy ..... Have you used it much in winter conditions ? Just wondering about heating (although you mentioned that and it seems okay ) but also about the pipes freezing etc ... Going to look at a 2002 model (80k miles) on Monday ..... 2 humans + 1 cat ( 17 year old I just want to sleep all day model)
Serenity is 5.3m long and 2.4m wide. I imagine that's the same as the non-ES model as I'm guessing the base vehicle is the same. The heater's very noisy, embarrassingly so if you're camped near other people! So on electric hook-up I have a little electric fan heater I use instead that's just perfect on a cold morning. The water system on Serenity hasn't been insulated for winter use so if there's a risk of freezing conditions I keep the whole system drained down and empty. I'm probably a bit over-cautious about it but I don't want to risk damaging anything. Thanks for commenting! Good luck with the van hunt :-)
Great van, I'm thinking to get one like this. This was diesel or petrol do you member ? Was there any issues overtime with the engine? Greetings from Ireland
Hi Rod. Thanks. We haven't done enough mileage yet to get a good idea of average MPG. A tank of diesel doesn't last as long as I'd like it to though! Happy camping.

What a wonderfully cozy van...seems to have everything. Your dog obviously approves.

What a lovely van. I love the extra room that you did with the bathroom regarding the cool door the way it opens. Nice job!!

Fantastic video this is the one I want. I retire in 2 years and going to get one. Fantastic van and everything you need.
So many sinks do not have drainers these days! I like your van.
So many sleeping options! Your van is awesome
Thank you Sarah.
You pointed out loads of things in your van that haven't been shown in other videos I've seen.

Thanks Beverley. I'm sure you'll love it! :-)
Good choice - It's a great layout. Happy travelling!
Wow after seeing so many videos of caravan I like your layout the best👍

I could live in that van forever
+Vegans Kaboom That's something I'm seriously considering. Maybe not for forever :-) But for a year or so travelling around. Such a livable space!
so could I..... superb isn't it?
+Sarah Fenn my dream is to live the free life in a small bus , my life won't be complete until that happens , I know most people think I'm crazy but that's cool .
+Beverley Pearson yes it is

That's a nice and cosy camper van!
one of the best vans i have ever seen, if I ever make my van I shall use your van blueprint. Your van is so lovely.❤💕💕
The toilet/bath door was very clever
Really nice van, looks so comfy to leave there.
Lovely van. Some very nice features there.
very interesting and informative video, great for someone starting out with campervan travelling, well done.

Great video, thanks for sharing, wish to have one as well.
L.D.
Thanks LD :)
Sarah, a neat shower you've got there....
This seems to lose the storage under the couch portion as compared to the symphony. Do you at least have storage under the convertible portion of the couch when in single seat mode?
Why can't we have stuff like this in the US? A small, diesel fully loaded campervan. Is there storage underneath the bench and chair?
Hi Che. Thanks for the comment! On the driver's side, when the rear travel seat is set up as a chair, there's no space underneath as that's where the water heater is located. However, when it's set up as a bench there's quite a large space underneath for gear.

British campers are so much better than Americans.
Only because we can take tea in ours
How awful for a dog to be in such a small van.
