A nuclear missile is great against buildings and units, but only if they are not stronger than the average. The vacuum rocket is a little weak against buildings, but merciless even to the most tenacious units. But whatever you say, I love both superweapons.
@Bean Mr What did you say comarade? Me and my Kalashnikov can't hear you. Come closer. Seriously though: Kirovs rock and hurt so much once you get them in the right place. Though that last part is half the match if you have the balls to field them
Vacuum Imploder : + Good against buildings and units both air and land if caught in the implosion radius will be an instant death. + The implosion will constantly damage buildings and instant kill units in the area for 5 seconds. - Small radius, and can be avoided easily because of the smoke. Nuclear Missile : + Good against buildings and land units, air units can be damage or destroyed if closer. + huge blast radius. + it will left a fallout radiation for secs, melting or destroying any land units in the area. Except to those who are immune. + The place that will be hit will be hard to predict since it won't be marked on the map. - doesn't affect the air units in the radiation. - radiation damage is small, purposely to eat the last health of the survivors.
And nobody's gonna talk about how the multi-stage ICBM just dropped from the sky as a whole instead of just the tip of the rocket where the war head sits in?
Are you bad mouthing the glorius motherland and our brilliant design choice of rocket? You capitalistic pig, you will feel full force of the red army, for you see, more rocket equals more boom.
The dominator was always kinda weird, it always does very little damage and the mechanic where it is supposed to convert units doesn't work half the time
Vacuum imploder is like the best superweapon in the red alert universe (maybe all of c&c). And that is purely for it's amazing utility in unit killing, be it offensive or defensive.
Nuclear Silo in RA2 was so scary and intimidating, even tho it was a simple building. I mean, that Hammer and Sickle look like the building is smiling literally
Although i love RA2 we shouldnt be biased towards it. The vaccum imploder is a freaking deathrod that can decimata an ENTIRE army whilst you have your satellite dump to deal with buildings. The vaccum imploder is probably the most deadliest of all superweapons from ra2-ra3 in terms of damage to vehicles. Ra2 for me was a better game but man, the vaccum imploder is totally amazing.
Again. A lot of people like to shit on RA3 just because of its pure existence. Clearly some of you haven't played the game to at some degree where you can appreciate what was done. Vacuum Imploder is, to me, the better weapon. RA2's Nuke just isn't as scary as the Atom Bomb from the first game(though that too has some lackluster effects too) and Kane's nuke from CnC1. Oh no! An Air Raid Siren lemme just move my important stuff away (and set up the Force Field on my factories). Vacuum Imploder actually has the same weakness of you just moving your stuff away but both are more useful during an offense and defense(though not the nuke as much). Defensively, the Vacuum Imploder, is a nice way to stall a chokepoint where as with Nukes you can just drive past the radiation (all MBTs and fast vehicles in RA2 can afford this). The Vacuum Imploder just has the massive benefit of Instakilling ANY unit its radius. Getting rid your opponents army in a RTS game is always good rather than just maybe dealing damage to it. A lot of RA2's late game units can survive a nuke. *People hating RA3 for no good reason rant incoming* "Hurrdurr RA3, is very cartoonish" i don't mind RA3's aesthetic, to me this just the game embracing the campy nature of Red Alert. Red Alert was only really super serious and gritty ON FIRST GAME. RA2 admittedly had a wackier story and RA3 tops that by embracing the wacky. Plus technically, these models are actually refinements ever since SAGE3D's debut game, Generals. They're more detailed than that game while having better readability. "RA2 WUZ THE BETTER GAME" I'd agree with you from a sheer "go have fun" standpoint. Yes! RA2 is a very fun game, it's just not finely-tuned, there is a lot of cheap strategies out there for this game. RA3, for sure, has different feel but it doesn't make it the worse game imo. It has a different view on "fun." And was designed to be more competitive and not "realistic" as some may misconstrue the meaning of the word in the context of videogames. The factions are much more balanced and units now have intended roles, all the while maintaining visual readability (you wouldn't know this if you just disregard this nuance and claim "all the factions have the same units now because of unit roles."). So yeah RA3 is not for everyone, but it's the last good RTS we've had from industry veterans. EALA was still the Westwood we know (despite being under EA), some of them anyway, they brought us RA2, Generals, CnC3, all great games in their own regard. Is just that EA as an entity, as a whole, is well... evil.
It's not just exploding the missle, it's the splitting of atoms. In Red Alert 3, Albert Einstein was retconned, thus nuclear weapons were never researched
Because of C&C General banned in some country, the game looks more and more cartonist. And many game developer stop making "realistic" strategic simulation game.
Only reason why Soviets have Vacuum Imploder was to quote some devs back in the day they didn't want players to nuke Japan because they saw it as disrespect
They both have their pros and cons, but honestly I prefer GDI's Ion Cannon. It's more surgical and I prefer taking out my enemy using a scalpel as opposed to using a sledge hammer.
I think the nuke is better and more balanced. It deal tons of damage to weaken enemy army but not completly broken and overpowered annihilating every unit.

It's not fair to directly compare these are two different games, the balancing of the health and the damage from the superweapons scale differently to suit the needs to make it balanced. (Not that ra3 is balanced tho...)
