This brings back memories, I remember learning Donna Lee as one of my first Jazz tunes with the Guitar Professor at the Community College. We had a previous relationship and he knew I was a prog shredder guy. Knew I loved the fast stuff, so he started me on that. That song blew my mind. Learning to try to play over those changes was some of the biggest growth I had as a musician.
I'm a non-jazz muso who loves jazz - there are a few of us around I think! I'm trying to learn this as an exercise. I'm currently about half way through and having to work on those 2nd/4th finger trills; very alien for a casual/bluesy guitarist! Many thanks for the video.
Some of the fingerings/pivot points you used can be altered to be more efficient and less stressful on the hand. But I used this to learn the tune quickly thanks for making this comprehensive video! Much better than just reading a sheet
Really good. I feel much comfortable with your fine & proper instructions to develop my practice. Thank you so much ❤️ My Good wishes to you. From India
Nice! I need to learn it…for the reasons u mentioned. Is that an older es175 or something else? Looks like its got some paint checking going on…?also the gold is tarnished off exactly where you pick, right?

Get playing by John as always. Nice to hear him playing be-bop..!
Awesome 💯
Damn that’s great! I’ve tried to learn Guthrie Govan’s version but gave up in 10 min. I’m not a jazz player but would love to be able to do it.
neither is guthrie govan
@@jfar3340 Guthrie is arguably the greatest jazz improviser of all time. He certainly is a master of jazz, blues, rock, classical and fusion.
@@allrelative3065 hahahahahah
@@allrelative3065 so am I then. Arguably. In this case meaning almost everyone will argue with me.

All hail the lick!
Nice! If this is on the Helix, could you share your patch? I’ve been looking for a traditional tone. Great video as usual!
Unless this is in the Gumroad folder, then tell me which one it is thx!!
So weird playing it on guitar after playing it on bass (badly) for the last twenty years or so, never tried it on guitar before 😄

What is the model of your guitar and amp used here? Sounds amazing
How long did it take to get to full speed?
What guitar are you playing? I love it. I want that one.
I looks like a Gibson ES-175
Please someone should help me with the name of this tune🙏
Lmao this songs an absolute bitch to play on the saxophone as well. Parker was a genius.
I'm sorry but I don't understand what I'm doing wrong why none of my videos are recommended?!😔
