Happy Wednesday from Copenhagen!👋🏼😍 What’s the worst cleaning gadget or product you’ve ever bought? 😅 And what’s your BEST cleaning tip that you swear by? Let’s share some advice (and maybe a few laughs)! 😁🎉🎉
My "worst" cleaning products would have to be kitchen/bathroom sprays that require lots of rinsing afterwards. I love being able to simply spray/dwell/wipe and be done. Same reason I love my spray mop too: make it easy and it's less of a chore! I'm also not keen on super strong scents (whether fragrance or chemical smells)... I almost passed out when I used black mould spray in our bathroom once ☠😅
The only way to keep my apartment clean is to do 15 minutes of tidying/cleaning every day. It frees up the time for bigger projects, so I’m not overwhelmed by the daily cleaning.
My best cleaning tip is to watch one of your videos to motivate me to start cleaning and give me a positive outlook. I like that your videos are chatty because I do more listening than viewing while I clean and tidy.
Have been watching your videos since way WAY back. Your feather duster on a stick era. Before editing and wearable microphones. It's been inspiring watching your growth, personal and channel. Hearing about your kids growing and graduating, your holiday traditions, and even taking us on amusement rides(loved when you shared walking around the park different times of the year )were alll very special. You made me feel okay about myself as I was, but inspired me to get up off my bahookie and do better. For me. You made me believe i deserved better,Diane. I will forever be grateful. 💚 😊
My best cleaning tip is to follow Diane in Denmark 🎉 !!! I am an old subscriber, from when Diane's videos were voiceovers 😅. Oh boy , what a God 's sent she has been; it has totally changed my life. Even though nowadays I have things under control, I still watch her videos. She is so much fun, such a happy soul 💖
Thank you Diane, my best cleaning tip is don’t put it down, put it away. It’s always keeps flat surfaces clean. You are almost at 100K subies…..rah rah rah 🎉🎉🎉
Yes!!! This! It took me a long time to realize it was half as much work to put things away in their place. And no time at all to find things, when they are put away properly
This may seem a silly tip, but it has made a big difference for me in not resisting emptying the dishwasher: I place all my like cutlery together when loading the utensils basket…knives, forks etc. Then when I empty it I can grab handfuls and efficiently put everything away. I also avoid stabbing myself this way.
We live in Pasadena, California and are currently under an evacuation warning because of the fire that is ravaging our community. We'll be fine, but sadly many of our friends have already lost their homes. We're all in shock. There's nothing like a disaster to put your priorities in order. Diane, your insights from your Mum's passing have rung true---people you love and memories of time spent with them are what's really important. When this is all over, I'll be letting go of a lot of stuff that we don't really need. Like you and your husband, Diane, we're also downsizing and moving in 2025. Thanks for continuing to be a great inspiration and cheerleader.
Woo hooo 🎉 I’ve been following you for at least eight years I think!!! I don’t think I’ve missed a video yet!!! 🎉🎉🎉 Thank you for all the encouragement over the years! I’m certainly managing my house much better these days and I don’t get all overwhelmed and stressed anymore xxxx❤
I was thinking about you today Diane. I was cleaning the kitchen stove and counters for zone. I definitely was close to 30 minutes and I said, Diane would say stop and do some self care. I worked out and meditated. We are moving my mother in law into a nursing home this afternoon so I needed some self care because the situation is very stressful. We’ve been caring for her in an apartment so it’s been a long amount of time because she has dementia.
I keep the same cleaning supplies upstairs because I tried just having one and I found if I was upstairs and my caddy was downstairs- I would get distracted instead of just going and getting the caddy. Now I keep everything i need to clean the upstairs- upstairs and everything I need to clean the downstairs- downstairs. ❤🎉🕺💃💕
I keep a cleaning caddy with supplies in each bathroom and in the kitchen. It's so easy to reach for what I need to clean up a little whenever I need to.
The worst thing I ever bought was an expensive subscription to follow someone else’s cleaning plan, I never really followed through on it so it didn’t work! Shocking 😊 But now I’m seeing much better results from following Diane. My indispensable tool is my homemade cleaning solution, which I make out of one part rubbing alcohol, two parts white vinegar, 4 parts water. I then add several drops of dawn dish soap and about 15 drops of essential oil . That solution with microfiber cloths are good on any surface, including windows.
Good evening Diane and fellow you-tubers. Watching your video I realized that I haven't made my DIY all purpose cleaning soap but it's been 5 months since my sister passed away and these holidays were unbearable, thank God I have my son. For the last few weeks I am going through a phase of laziness and procrastination, I believe it has to do with grief but I do only the essentials i.e. cooking, dishes, vacuum and gazing the ceiling. I think I have to go back to your very first videos and start the daily chores all over again, I really do need the motivation. Have a great new year everybody Health and Happiness
Sorry for the loss of your sister. You're right that grief can zap our energy and make it difficult to muster up motivation for even simple tasks. May you be able to heal and progress in 2025.
I'm sorry about your sister passing. I'm sure grief is affecting you and will continue for a while. But you are so wise to see how starting at the beginning with the basics will help you get through the days. ❤
Best cleaning tip (frankly, life tip) is sustainability- a little every day is doable, but do too much at once and you’ll burn out! I haven’t purchased many cleaning gadgets because my family keeps gifting their old ones to me. I get to try a lot of different things that way, but usually quite practical things! 😅
I once bought a subscription to have cleaning products sent regularly. Before I knew it I had about 3 years of cleaning supplies in my closet...I gave away sets for Christmas and cancelled the subscription :)
Not sure which brand you used but for the longest time a friend of mine tried to convince me to subscribe to Melaluca. I’m soooo grateful I never did as it would have been the same thing for myself, that I would have easily received waaaay too many products as they’re so concentrated!
I did that with Purdy and Figg. I cancelled early on though and decided to make my own version with a huge bottle of concentrate and my own oils. Way cheaper. P and F was lovely but very expensive.
Happy New Year, I’m excited for your cleaning videos. I know you have many old ones, but there are so many you end up going down that rabbit hole😂 Have a great day 🌿
Your videos are a huge bright spot in my week, they always help me! I'm taking 6 grocery bags of clothes to the thrift store this week. One in one out will be my motto going forward! ❤
I do have a cleaning pantry where I keep my brooms, mops and supplies, it has been simplified in the last few years while I have been using up the older single use items and not re-buying. One of my favorite tips is that you don’t have to have different cleaners for finished wood floors and ceramic tile. I use Murphy’s oil soap in my mop bucket on Weekly Home Blessing days for all of my floors. I also start mopping in the hallway, through the living room, the kitchen and then the bathroom so that my water stays as clean as possible throughout. I have it down to 10 minutes and it feels so great afterwards. Stay warm and thanks for the encouragement, Diane. 😊
Diane, I truly understand about being overwhelmed about cleaning. I would always buy cleaning supplies, cleaning tools, and anything I thought would make my house cleaner. However, it’s been with you and the fly Lady system that I have learned it takes me being consistent and putting in the effort rather than all those cleaning supplies and tools. I want to thank you for all the years I have followed you and how you have helped me .BISOUS!
I have culled the number of cleaning products I use also; it makes cleaning so much easier. A TH-camr I watched years ago used old toothbrushes to clean hard to reach areas of the sink and toilet- she used a pink toothbrush for the sink and a blue one for the loo- I’ve done this ever since. Unfortunately, she no longer has a channel but it’s a great tool
Finally time to catch up! Rarara! 🎉 I keep cleaning products on a caddy in bathrooms and kitchen. Since I introduced that it is much easier to keep on top. I do not own a mop, I just use a microfibre on my knees as we have small areas. It is also easier to take on any splashes on skirting board or lower parts doors. Very minimal 😂
I clean mostly with vinegar but I make a homemade borax spray cleaner from a recipe I found on you tube that is amazing, especially on shower doors and floors in the shower. You don't have to buy expensive cleaners.
I have a counter rag, floor rag, window/mirror rag, general purpose cleaner, and window cleaner in each bathroom and kitchen. I like being able to just reach under the sink and get things done. We have pets, so I have a shark automatic vaccum (love it- only have to empty once a month) that runs every morning. The mop, broom, and upright vacuum are right off the kitchen in the garage.
I have a cleaning caddy, after your idea, but I also find keeping a few things in each bathroom has been key for a quick "skoosh skoosh!" Thanks for the encouragement. Zone 1 task of washing down the outside of the cabinets was the zone mission today!
The FlyLady rags are absolutely wonderful! I’ve had the same set for at least three years and they look like new. Just be sure to watch the washing instructions if you purchase them. You don’t want to wash them with other fabrics and you don’t want to use fabric softener on them.
Diane I wanted to say how happy I am to see your channel growth. 95K!! I think I found you during the pandemic, and the fact that so many people have found you is wonderful. You have helped so many!! Congratulations!!
Thank you, Diane! ❤❤❤ Hugs from Nova Scotia. As I was watching, I was reminded in my early adult years, when the cleaning aisle was my favourite aisle in any store! Always searching for the right thing to fix my home. Between you and elbow grease, I think I’ve found it! 😂
Thanks for this post, perfectly timed for me as I had planned to sort out my (many) cleaning tools and supplies today. You have motivated me to take it much further and minimise. Thanks! I love the convenience of cleaning caddies, so will retain 2 of them, one for the kitchen and one for the bathrooms, stored under the sink and basins.
♥️ this video. A light weight electric bag less stick vacuum was the last disappointing and weak cleaning appliance purchased. Donated it as someone might find it helpful. Cleaning tip ~ use the spray function (if you have it) to rinse out the sides and bottom of kitchen sink each time you use it. It makes it easier and faster to do the deep clean ✔️💕🌱⏲️
Diane, you have given me a new goal: to reduce my cleaning things to one caddy’s worth, plus a few specialist items. Like you, I bought a large steamer which I probably use only twice a year. It is time to reflect on whether it needs a new home!
I like micro fibre cloths. Sticking to my routines and using my timer are a great help to keep me on track. Plus I hear your voice telling me to get off my buhooky and just do it. Best advice ever ❤
Love that color on you! Your videos sure keep me motivated. Making great progress decluttering and just this morning recommended your videos to a friend.
I've been watching your videos for several years, since before you began Dressing Your Truth. I think my main cleaning problem is that I easily feel overwhelmed by all that needs done. I also have some health issues that limit me sometimes and things can go downhill all at once. Anyway, thanks for all you do for us. You have helped me very much. My house is in much better shape than it was before I found you. I just want to take it up a notch and start cleaning it better this year.
Thanks for the encouragement Diane, I'm still working on simplifying my cleaning, but I use all non toxic, non tested products I just have a few too many of them at the moment but I'm getting there 😀
I always appreciate the motivation! I have the O'cedar spin mop. It's light and easy to use. I also love Clorox or Lysol cleaning wipes. I can quickly disinfect door knobs, light switches and other frequently touched area, especially during cold and flu season!
I actually got the Flylady mop 'way back in the day (like 2003) that did not work well for me. I now use the O'Cedar mop with a spinner bucket and love it. I also put my feather duster on a long handle with tape, which you advised quite awhile back, too. Your methods work so well, Diane, esp with the attitude adjustments you provide every week. Thanks for another video! 💙
I keep a small caddy in the bathroom with the supplies I need there, and another one under the kitchen sink. There is another caddy in the storage room for cleaning supplies I use less often. I love my caddies!
Great cardi Diane! My most dreaded appliance was the Kirby vacuum my parents bought when I was a kid, as it was an absolute beast and it was my job to drag around. It fair put me off hoovering for life! I've got a cordless Dyson at the mo, but am toying with the idea of supplimenting with a Robot one....all suggestions welcome! 🤗
Same here, the Kirby was too heavy for my shoulders after awhile and so expensive too. I'm a senior and my grandma and aunts used one, my mother had a Rainbow, which I couldn't lift all the dirty water out to dump. So, now I use a cordless Dyson, a Roomba would be nice
@@lindamast2766 I got rid of my robovac … I suddenly had a vision of missing seeing a cat hairball (or worse!!) before I set it going and having to follow the route, cleaning all manner of yuck as I went 🤮 😹
I fancy that too, though soneone suggested getting a mop and vac one, but not that brand, though I cant remember which...though I'll know it when I hear it 😂
I’ve found that I can go without most cleaning products. I use Dawn dish soap, vinegar, rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide for most anything. Occasionally I will use Window cleaner. I was caught up in buying fancy cleaning supplies, but not cleaning! 😂
Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day all purpose cleaner is an alternative for people in the United States. I love getting the seasonal scents, it motivates me to use it so that I can be ready for the next season’s scent!
I’m using up cleaners that I have and then simplifying. I’ve a ton of microfibre cloths - they’ll probably last the rest of my life! My steam mop has broken - and not from all the use it’s had either 🤦🏻♀️ My go to is now one like yours - easy to grab for kitchen spills and no trouble to carry around.
I use a multipurpose eucalyptus based product. The company started to then bring other ones out. I bought the floor cleaner one and realised it was the same just a stronger formula. I now but the floor one and dilute for the spray bottle! Lower cost and lasts for a lot longer.
My German mother used socks over her hand to dust our steps. Also, to polish paste wax on wooden floors……great fun for kids as we ”skated” on the floor.
A timer really is my answer. It makes a huge difference. I’ve recently got back into using one. I do have a fairly basic karcher steam cleaner and do find it great, but definitely not for every day.
Today is my home blessing day. I have my candles lit, my vacuum roomba going. I also have a caddy and bought as a Christmas present to myself the Flylady's big bundle. I love the mop and the big duster flexible wand is a game changer. We live in a dry climate and it traps all the dust. I can dust my ceiling fans with no problem. I've been wanting to get a separate timer even though the Flylady's app has one as well as the phone. But I liked your idea of a separate one. I just bought a big ladybug timer at Hobby Lobby (for those in the US) this past weekend and love it. Now I can listen to audiobooks on my phone without them being cut off😂.
I was thrilled with my steam mop for tiled floors. When my first one died I bought another but it too did not last more than a year or two....now I am looking for a low tech solution that I can use reusable cleaning pads with.
Years ago I read Clean Mama's book and have been using her cleaning formulas ever since. The ingredients are simple ones that I would have in our home anyway: Castille soap, rubbing alcohol, white vinegar...I can add my own essential oils to change the fragrance with the season.🦋🦋🦋
Years ago, I bought a steam mop, too. It sat in the basement. I don't remember using past the first month. Since we downsized our home. I only have a few. Happy New Year 🎉
Love your videos! - Clean My Space has great yt videos on DIY cleaning liquids with Vinegar, Baking Soda, Dish Soap, etc. She has or had a professional cleaning company, if I am remembering correctly.
I use vinegar mainly on furniture mirrors and windows. I have lots of essential oils I use for cleaning and healthcare and then soap and steamer. Of course the usual s like domestos, gif, flash, zaflora and Dettol are a must. I have been through the range of alternative s like baking soda, soda crystals, dishwasher tablets, salt and lemon. Then the specialist products for cleaning washing machine and dishwasher etc
Last year I bought a dual vacuum and mop all in one. While it worked really well …. My floors felt so absolutely smooth and clean, the cleanup of the machine afterwards was really gross with all the wet dust and dirt in the screens and water, etc. I ended up getting rid of it.
My best cleaning tip is using dish soap as satin remover on clothing. My cleaning supply regret is thinking I needed multiple types of microfibre clothes for stainless steel/ glass/ wood/ mirrors when I actually just need any rag and soap and water
Hi Diane and Happy New Year ! Thanks a lot for all the help and motivation over the past years. Looking forward to cleaning and decluttering alongside you in 2025 😊 And who knows, this might be the year I finally get a handle on things 🤞😍 (but I have a feeling it will not be the year I get my steam cleaner out of the basement 😮😂)
I don't use an all purpose cleaner any more. Just water and a little bit of dish washing soap in a spray bottle. Not to much foam and easy to wipe away. If you are cleaning consistantely you don't have to use special products. But I have still too much cleaning supplies. Have to downsize again 😅
I have ended up with two steam cleaners and a cupboard full of cleaning supplies, and I hardly use any of them! I’ve resolved to use one general-purpose cleaner and use it for a quick wipe-over more often rather than leave things for ages and have to scrub away dirt.
Happy Wednesday from Copenhagen!👋🏼😍 What’s the worst cleaning gadget or product you’ve ever bought? 😅 And what’s your BEST cleaning tip that you swear by? Let’s share some advice (and maybe a few laughs)! 😁🎉🎉

I NEVER miss a video. Thank you for everything Diane.
Ha ha, thanks, Julie!
Love that color on you! Your videos sure keep me motivated. Making great progress decluttering and just this morning recommended your videos to a friend.
Hi Diane your hair looks so good the way u have it in this video. The timer and probation work wonders T.Y.Take care..
Thanks for the encouragement Diane, I'm still working on simplifying my cleaning, but I use all non toxic, non tested products I just have a few too many of them at the moment but I'm getting there 😀
That green looks fabulous on you. Makes your eves pop!
I recently got an extendable stick scrubbing pad and it makes cleaning the tub and shower walls so easy that I no longer mind doing it!
Another much needed one Diane! Yes, i have a whole cabinet of cleaning supplies. But i will work on that. Thank u!!
My favorite all-purpose cleaner is just water with a squirt of dish liquid.
Always love your tips Diane❤
So glad, Cheryl - hope you're having a wonderful Wednesday!
Hi! I’ve been with you for years from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.❤
Oh my heavens - the gargantuan Kirby! Stuff of nightmares 😂
@@darlingantiqueco oh yes! Buying stuff but not using it is such a trap for the unwary procrastinator like me!
Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day all purpose cleaner is an alternative for people in the United States. I love getting the seasonal scents, it motivates me to use it so that I can be ready for the next season’s scent!
I use those, too! Love them. Lavender is my go-to, but I switch out the handsome by season.
Oops... hand soap.
Good morning from Washington state. I always appreciate your videos. Thanks for sharing so many great tips with us. Fellow Type 1 🥰 Rah rah rah
Type one here too!
Got a lot of cleaning products from my moms when she passed away. Will use them up and simplify after that. Thank you for the cheery inspiration.
I use a multipurpose eucalyptus based product. The company started to then bring other ones out. I bought the floor cleaner one and realised it was the same just a stronger formula. I now but the floor one and dilute for the spray bottle! Lower cost and lasts for a lot longer.
You look great!
Diane ive been watching your videos for a long time, i always learn something new. I do have a cupboard of many products. I will now declutter.
Happly decluttering the Kitchen and the family home. I work for 15 minutes each day and it is not over whelming. Thank you
Hello from AZ😎🌵 love your videos, looking forward to your move to the city and all that entails.
✋🏻I have been decluttering cleaning products. I had them all over. Rounding them up and seeing what I actually use.
Great motivation as always Diane! That cardigan looks very pretty on you too❤
Been with you since September 2024 looking forward to the new year
I was thrilled with my steam mop for tiled floors. When my first one died I bought another but it too did not last more than a year or two....now I am looking for a low tech solution that I can use reusable cleaning pads with.
TY Happy New Year!
Could you share the re ipe for how much of each ingredient?
I have a caddy I keep upstairs and a small bin under the kitchen sink. Great video! I love my squish, squish mop, too!
So many great tips - and have loved your videos for a long time 🧹🧽
Good morning from northeast USA, we appreciate you! Been following for a couple years.
Wonderful - thank you, Laura!
I'm just like you and have used up all the products. I've now gone back to old fashioned eco-friendly products. They are so much better x
Thank you Diane for breaking down cleaning into thd essentials ❤
I use vinegar mainly on furniture mirrors and windows. I have lots of essential oils I use for cleaning and healthcare and then soap and steamer. Of course the usual s like domestos, gif, flash, zaflora and Dettol are a must. I have been through the range of alternative s like baking soda, soda crystals, dishwasher tablets, salt and lemon. Then the specialist products for cleaning washing machine and dishwasher etc
I have found microfiber cloths to be my worst and best products. Quality is key! My favorite cleaning gadget is my ostrich feather duster (Flylady).
Hi Diane, thanks for these simple ideas 💕
Glad you like them, Clare - always nice to see a comment from you, hope you're having a great day!
I clean with ATTITUDE! Seriously though, that's the name of the brand I use.
Thank you Diane ❤❤
You are so very welcome, Mary!
Hi Diane! I can't clean without a timer! I go overboard and get burnt out if I do. Same here with the steam cleaner. Never again 🤭
Love a timer
Yay, me too, Martha!
I don't use an all purpose cleaner any more. Just water and a little bit of dish washing soap in a spray bottle. Not to much foam and easy to wipe away. If you are cleaning consistantely you don't have to use special products. But I have still too much cleaning supplies. Have to downsize again 😅
Diane. I would love to know where you got that timer with the pink
On it. Love it!
I have ended up with two steam cleaners and a cupboard full of cleaning supplies, and I hardly use any of them! I’ve resolved to use one general-purpose cleaner and use it for a quick wipe-over more often rather than leave things for ages and have to scrub away dirt.
