Young Beethoven is watching Mozart playing Bach.
The multiverse is real
Unfortunately it is very unlikely that Mozart and Beethoven ever actually met.
No, Beethoven just met Mozart when he was a teenager, not a kid. And regarding his background, his family was poor, so he could not afford for appearance in such events. And, under his father’s pressure, Beethoven had to practice piano almost all day.
Wtf
And Bach si One of the court musicians obviusly represented
@@bait5257 No, Beethoven just met Salieri when he was over 20, not a kid.
They made him play on his Bach.

I love this part of Amedeus, with young Beethoven watching with a huge grin! Two of the greatest composers in all of music history, both in the Classical time period. Mozart had perfect pitch and Beethoven had relative pitch was all he needed to write the masterpiece 9th Symphony stone deaf. They will remain in an untouchable class of the finest musicians of all of music history.
how did you know that was young Beethoven?
@@Orpheokim Hi, I watched a documentary on UTube about the making of the movie Amadeus. That was how I found out that the young child was Beethoven. Mozart was born before Beethoven and they both were in the classical time period of music. The film was interesting and informative as well.
Ludwig was born in 1770. The movie scene in question took place late in Mozart's life when he was living in Vienna. Therefore there is no way the film makers would try to insinuate that the little boy is LVB when he would have been a teenager by that point. Also, Mozart and Ludwig did meet in 1787 and spent an afternoon together at Mozart's home discussing and playing music. It was the only time they spent together.
@@monty4336 That is true but they did say that because I watched a documentary on the movie and that boy was said by the actors in the film that was Beethoven as a young child. It isn't what I said but what they said. We know Mozart was older than Beethoven. They probably did this as something to make the film interesting. It was probably not a true event that happened. I just made a comment on what was said about the making of the movie, Amedeus.
Beethoven helped start the Romantic period.
I think the young kid is meant to be Bethoven

Salieri behind his mask watching with awe at the same time with burning jealousy
Mozart was more skilled than that, at least after his leipzig studies he would have been abled to play a three part fugue...
sure! But it's a nice scene that tries to reflect his creativity and knowledge of styles
@@raulpardomorales7994 I hate to be the snob man. I guess maybe you are right, but generally the composing in the movie feels a little like crap to me. The music director employs from his very small number of Mozart music and even transcribes opera music into keyboard... Exahusting opportunities to introduce some unknown and rather serious or delightful keyboard pieces, even improvisatory ones. I have a image within me of Mozart improvising a five part fugue in his apartment, along with a prelude in his pedal fortepiano, and constanze, a noble woman gifted in music, not some sort of a whore ( she offers sex to salieri in the movie ) as dipicted in the movie, but listening very carefuly and admiringly to the every single note that his belived husband produces.
Well, I just did it again, I can't help myself...
@@raulpardomorales7994 well, we have letters of Mozart and his wife exactly describing this, so I should mention it is fact. Constanze was a soprano and various sacred vocal pieces were wrote for her. A match made in heaven. She scolded mozart for not writing down his improvisations on the pedal piano and letting them fade away - mentioned in a letter to his father by Mozart. I guess a lover of history as I see myself holds a certain amount of spite but also affection towards works of fiction, as the writer sacrifices truth to convey his message.
@@handavid6421 ok, enjoy your fucking letters.

Back then you could play just about anything and score at least six babes.
ah the good ol' days
Tom Hulce really learnt how to play upside-down. Brilliant, or what!
Tom Hulce !
Playing upside down with crossed hands is actually pretty much the same as playing normally. I don't know if people realize this.
@@ivanmitrovic ok i will try.
@@martiglesias60 Go ahead, it's fun! The only hard part is that the movement of your hands is limited due to the position of your body and hands being crossed, but the direction of playing is the same like sitting straight. Have fun!
@@ivanmitrovic Freddie Mercury can play like that too since he was also a great pianist.
I absolutely loved this movie as a kid. Watched it again recently and everything visually is so beautiful. They used only natural lighting for this film and candle light. All the theatre scenes are amazing.
One of my favorite scenes when he plays for people to bring joy. 🙌 😃 😊
This is a great little piece. Whoever wrote it for the movie nailed 18th century fugue.
The only aspect that’s really trippy are the rhythmic syncopations. But then again, sometimes rhythmic oddities do show up in music of that style/time, such as in Mozart’s Little Gigue in G Major.
I wonder if it was composed by Sir Neville Marriner, founder and long-time conductor of the Academy of Saint Martin in the Fields, and music supervisor of the film.
@@CalebCarman it also can happen since this is an improvisation
Viva Mozart.
Time to watch the whole movie again 🕺🏻

I don't know if this is Beethoven but his teacher is indeed in this movie.
Most fans of the film, such as myself, feel that the little boy is supposed to be Beethoven. That being said, in real life Beethoven was about 17 when he met Mozart.

WHAT A GREAT MUSIC......
The Greatness of Mozart is immeasurable and beyond description
Моцарт-великий композитор!
He went to brothel alright, not to play Harpsichord though.
Weren't Harpsichords the widespread "piano replacements" of that time? Cheaper, well, different sound, but fits the music taste of that time anyway?
@@richard--s ooh. i thought pianos were harpsichord replacements bc they came out much later
@@gnos887 yees, sure ;-)
@@gnos887 you are indeed correct. The earliest mention of a harpsichord was in the 1400s while the piano was invented much later in the 1700s.
@@gnos887
History of the Piano: Where was the Piano Invented & Who Invented the Piano First? - 1700
When was the piano created and why was the piano invented? About three hundred years ago, toward the end of the Renaissance, there was a harpsichord maker in Italy named Bartolomeo Cristofori. He wanted to make an instrument that could be loud like a harpsichord, but also touch-sensitive like a clavichord, so he took an idea from the hammered dulcimer and built an instrument that would fling a soft-covered hammer at a string whenever a key was pressed. The harder the key was pressed, the harder the hammer flew. After the string was struck, the hammer fell back to let the string vibrate freely. So long as the key was held down, the string would vibrate, but as soon as the key was released, a damper would quiet the string. This was a very complicated piece of machinery, so ingenious that it is still in use-with only small modifications-in our pianos today. Cristofori named his instrument “un cimbalo di cipresso di piano e forte” which is Italian for “a keyboard made of cypress wood with soft and loud.” Imagine going to your instrument store and asking for one of those!
Rock star! Yeah!

genius
I ha e personally heard mozarts personal piano played and i can tell you with 100% accuracy that the pianos of that era plucked the strings with quills of feathers and not hit with hammers making them extremely quiet, hence the name piano. We were not allowed to make a noise while it was being played because the tendency for the player to play louder to be heard over even one person making noise would BREAK THE PIANO. The audio in this scene is dead on but the audience would not have made a single noise.
Mozart of Wolfgang Petersen 👏👏

Not a word about his teacher Franz Joseph.
Mozart’s teacher, do you mean? Mostly his father and perhaps JC Bach, a bit. Mozart was a genius who picked up what was good for his own style.

I have always had curiosity about the boy standing there. After playing for his idol Mozart predicted that the young Beethoven would become a great composer!
Definitely sounds like pre-Bach composition
When I was a kid I always thought the kid was frickin Bach lol now I thought it was one of bachs children or grandchildren…. It doesn’t make sense to say “play in the style of Bach” then cut to a young boy standing there randomly watching unless he’s related to Bach.
