    Its nice to see them still getting excited about the pings and tings after no doubt all there years of work. They know when the stone is going to completely separate just from feel and sound. I never used to appreciate stone work as much as I did with other outdoor trades until I started doing a little bit of stonework. It really is the most relaxing and rewarding trade, not only that but it requires very little tools.
    Fae Scotland, Peace.

    I worked a granite quarry for 4 yrs. Money was GREAT, scenery was killer and we got to blow shit up every day!!! Still, most dangerous work i have ever done.

    That is a lot of equipment and hard work, just to get a fellow’s rocks off. This is by far the largest rock that I have seen anyone split. I have heard stories of men drilling a large rock in a field with a hammer and drill as farm work allowed. The next step was to keep the holes full of water in winter to break the rock as the ice expands. Does it work?????

      Breaking a stone or rock is easy you require right kind of tools but real challenge is to mould rocks into perfect symmetry even moulding is possible but more than a single pieces of rocks moulded into perfect symmetry would be a big task

    • @paulcatanach8428
      @paulcatanach8428 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So rather than break big rocks into small rocks with symmetry so you can mould them together ...........why not just leave them as big rocks? :-D

    Why don't you use that expansion compound once the holes are drilled? The mix you pour into holes and it expands and forces the stone apart all holes simultaneously? Forgot the name of the stuff but it looks amazing!

    How ever did the ancient people cut there massive stones with no cut marks and move them into place. 🤯

    • @102Chewy
      @102Chewy 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cut the stone bigger than needed to start with. How that was done is more or less the same you seen in this video just without power tools and more time/effort. Then once freed you would need to ship the slab. That was most likely done by putting the slab on logs and rolling it on top of said logs. Finally once in place, the slab is worked into what you wanted it to be.
      Tool marks can be buffed out and there was more than enough years to take your time with making it right. A lot of ancient buildings was ones life's work. As in it could take a literal lifetime of 5-20 years to finish.
