Put 30 series cab on it everything fits even the cluster dash hook air up to even the shifting part makes nice tractor then I even did a 5020 and a 4020 with that cab change out the seat as well
I had a 71 PowerShift with a Full vision cab. Best starting diesel I've ever had. It would start at 11° without Ether or the block heater. Dyno'd 172. Wish I still had it. Put 20.8s on it. Love those 23° Bias Firestones.
Thanks! .... yeah, everyone seems directed towards the bigger tires - which is probably the way to go ... I'll have to send you some pics of it - it's just been so super busy around the farm, social media is having to wait....
@@Blackearthexcavationandtiling hey man I completely understand! It’s a busy time of the year for most farmers. They’re wide open around here in peanuts and a few have already started in cotton.
My uncle bought one with a 12 ' chisel plow in 1970 ,with an air conditionef cab cab . It was a big pig that over heated all the time in the summer as soon ss we worked it hard They rebuilt the motor about 3 to 4 times the 25 yrs they had it until they traded it in on a JD 4 whell dr 9200 . Us kids never thought much of it . If we eould of known John Kinsenoe had a dolution got yhat pig w,we would have kept trying to talk my uncle Roy into doing that ! Kinze Repower would have happened . 7:19 !
I have hours of time logged in a 4620. I used to road one from Kent to Fort Dodge and back. The previous owner put a Chromed straight pipe on it. After years of double ear protection the boss finally put a real muffler back on it. Then it was down to one set of protection. I had an incident where coming north out of Cromwell the disc popped a hitch pin loose in road gear. It was wagging the dog by the hydraulic hoses. When I chopped the throttle, the disc tried to climb the back of the tractor. The ROPS system kept it out the cabin proper. Because the cabin was water damaged meant that I didnt break any glass . The only real damage was the Harrow section of the disc and the freshly rebuilt hydraulic remotes got the guts ripped out of them. And we had to strong arm the cabin back to something approximated straight so that the door fit again We back to strapping the hitch pin down again instead of spring clips
Hey! - great to hear from you again! ... yes, a chrome stack makes a guy def. I have also suffered stack hearing loss ! - lol .... oh for sure, good pin retention is a good idea
Put ten thousand hours on ours, got it in 1983 used with 18 by 42 Firestone and really made it a nice pulling tractor. They really had more power than weight and traction. Loved ours, good luck
I always warm them up summer or not and cool them down when working for a fear bit mine are factor weights and put bellie tank on them it will run side by side with my 4440 and then some great tractors
Thank you for asking.... I tried to tee in there - but there was no room ... so I tired to drill and tap that factory tee - to make like a 3 way connection .. sadly it didn't work ... just wasn't enough room .... about only way to do it- is to modify that hard line with a hose ...so it can be shortened - then you could split it off there ... I didn't want to modify the tractor - so I went with the 3rd scv plate instead ....
Deere sells a Power Beyond kit for any tractor uding the Flow control at the SCV. Leaves your tractor valves free. It was $220 in 2006. I just Googled Power beyond kit for 4620 and several came up at about the same price. They work slick and fit from a 1969 20 series to a 55 series.
A local guy had a 4520, powershift that sat on 18.4x42 rears. ..I remember drooling over that tractor as a kid ...lol.... as for this 4620, I'll likely stay 38s just to keep costs down....everyone seems to say put it on 20 8x38s .. thank you for watching!
I have 6 of them go with 20 .38 world of differents for traction 2 of mine came from factory with that size cranked pump up 10% nice tractor one I no for sure never been touched but clutch has 11000 hours on it doesn't use a drop of oil one other one iam pretty sure it's all original I got it with2700 hours didn't nothing to it got 1400 hours now don't burn oil
Personally, I would put the 20.8 tires on. Question, why are you going to put the old style tires on instead of some new firestone deep treads? In my opinion the deep treads would look badass on that tractor. Just curious on why you wanted to go the other route
I have put a couple of hours on that exact tractor it is a good solid tractor. That fan being froze up would explain why the a/c didn’t work very good. How did you like all the padding that was put into the tractor for sound? We unhooked that heater because we did not use that tractor in the winter and I would blow out hot air when you have the heat off
Long bar short bar tires SUCK!!! Like onelonelyfarmer said get the 20.8-38 thats what the gear in the rear is set up for an will get the most use of all its power not to mention they float better an just ride better
4620 that is a extremely good original example probably the cleanest unrestored 4620 I've seen wish I could see it in person.
Thanks very much! ... lots more videos of it coming!

I bought this same model about 6 weeks ago without the cab. Working on getting it back in shape.
Looking forward to your videos.
Awesome!

Glad to see you back. Hopefully there will be more videos in the future.
Lots of videos! ... I've actually been posting quite a bit on the second channel ...
I know she will be top notch when you get done with her. Cabs sure have come a long ways since those days.

You must of had a magic one
Looking forward to this one! I’m leaning towards the 20.8’s myself. Nice old tractor!

Put step ups on my 4630, what a difference that made. 42s would really make this tractor awesome, like it made my 4630 !!!
Thats a nice find, better than money in the bank, especially now😆
Haha! ... and thanks very much! ... I've wanted one of these for a long time
Very nice 4620! Air pretty rare on those!! I’d go 20-8 , but will cost more!!
I always warm them up summer or not and cool them down when working for a fear bit mine are factor weights and put bellie tank on them it will run side by side with my 4440 and then some great tractors
That thing is excellent. Original paint rules. 20.8 imo
I like John Dreere tractors 🚜
Do you have any other videos of steering rams
I don't - but I can make some
I am putting a 158 on a 4620 the line going into the rocker shaft can you put a t in it to get power

Looks like a fun project! What is the rated 3pt lift capacity on that tractor?
Thanks! ... not sure on the 3pt capacity- but I can check into it ...
Would 18.4-42's be an option? You'd have to find rims for it but it would sure look good if you could make that happen

I want a 4620 open station. Grandpa bought one and ran it as his big tractor till he bought his 2590 Case
20.8x38 would make her stand up and look good!!
Did you get that new case dozer sorted out
We did ... kind of .... long story on that one - lol .....I wouldn't recommend one - lol

Thanks for the input .... I want to keep it as original looking as possible- plus they sell for a fraction of the cost....
@@Blackearthexcavationandtiling Cool! Thanks for the reply
Sharp old tractor
Thanks very much!
20.8-38 trellborg you will not be sorry...
I had to get my wife, and show her my phone! 😁 - haha - I am truly honored to have had you watch my video!! - and I appreciate the input!

Yes they sure do!
Problematic ! Positively . No hp !
Not this one... this 46 has a crap ton of power and has had no problems at all
