I've seen video of them putting down their microphones and standing close together to sing this in concert. The audience was totally silent. It was beautiful. I'd give a lot to experience that live.
This is an original and was inspired by the song "My Heart with You", which they have covered and is incredible. You are right. This was very early in their careers. this was released in 2014, 3 years after they started. Thank you for your appreciative reaction. This is one of my faves of theirs.
You should listen to their live Florida perfor m ance with Matt. It is powerful. Mitch starts belting to drown out the hate filled protesters shouting outside. Song makes me teary but that performance makes me cry. Beauty countering hate.
I am just sick to my stomach hearing they had to experience protesters after all the joy and love they have put out into the world. Even if they weren't responsible for so much good, I'd be sick, but how dare anyone put hate anywhere near these lovely humans!
It's funny that when Pentatonix do a cover it's usually better than the original, and when they do an original song it's better than the cover versions that follow.
Check out this version from an A Cappella workshop Avi did at a college in 2017, before leaving PTX. He's conducting the song while also singing the bass line with the other basses. I love it when , at the line "How can I win back your heart", he reaches out and goes up on his toes to draw the emotion from the singers. It's not surprising that he had (and still has to an extent) plans to be a music director before he joined PTX and had an offer from the Los Angeles Opera. th-cam.com/video/xYVPyw8Q9fI/w-d-xo.html
If you look closely, the snow during the chorus is actually "falling" up. It's not a crazy camera trick. They all memorized the look of their mouths during the chorus and then sang it backward, so when they played the tape normally the snow "falls" up.
I would categorize them as the best as well because I have been 'touched' by more PTX songs than any other a capella group. If you take away the sentimental videos and just listen to the music...there is magic with PTX.
It's my understanding that Kevin came up with the beginning, then Avi took over for the rest, using his college minor of composition and arranging to create the ambience and dissonance. Ben Bram (their longtime producer/arranger) worked with them on the final arrangement.
Yes, it’s too bad that Avi quit the band. Fortunately, he has a great solo career now and Pentatonix is as good as ever with Matt. It worked out well for everyone. Recommend their Butter x Dynamite.
Good to see you back with another reaction, Can't wait until you react to Homefree's new song 'Ain't going down til the sun comes up" its truly amazing. Rupp is next level on this one.
That bridge still stands as my favorite thing they've ever done. Gets me in the heart.
Truly other worldly!!

They did this for their Christmas tour. It was amazing, you could hear a pin drop in there. We were all so focused on them.

If you understood the intricacies of the chords they were forming and the dissidence you would REALLY be absolutely stunned at this masterpiece.
I do and it got me emotional.
I believe this is the song the group used as an ‘encore’ in their 2021 Christmas tour.
It was a different song- My Heart With You
That's what I've been sayin!!! 👽👽👽👽👽 just other worldly. There ya go..Amazing.
You should check out Avi's solo music!!! You will not be disappointed.

Same. That one and the show right after that one in Miami (I think). Scott gets very emotional afterward.

If you miss Avi watch his solo work. I am a fan of Pentatonix and I see Matt has fit in seamlessly and he has been there for half a decade.
Avi and Kevin wrote this song so it’s alright to mention him and miss him!
They are real! Avi’s new album Floating On A Dream! You should check out! The flag on your hat is almost a peace time flag!
Please check out the artist Dax...his song Dear Alcohol
