Love this home Ananya, this is not a small town old home but the real one. The which we have forgotten.
We need eco friendly homes, all weather proofs and you are in the same field, please encourage more and more young architects and interior designers like you to make more tutorial videos to guide us to build eco friendly and healthy houses with alternative energy sources like solar, rain water harvesting, treatment of garbage to change in compost and treatment of sewage with environment friendly treatment. So that we could make our earth and life healthy. Please encourage others to do reaserch for those ancient methods, use those methods in their modren experiments and also guide common people with their knowledge so that we could all make our planet beautiful and healthy.
I could almost smell the rainy season at Dooars. The home gives a typical bengali vibe... so familiar to most of us. It's enchanting... and so real. Just like our childhood days.

This video must be very close to your heart. Home is where your heart is. Loved the way you renovated your home. You kept it simple and it's looking beautiful. It's quite a big house and the tranquility you get in small towns is unmatched. I am from Siliguri and we all know how beautiful Alipurduar is. Subscribed.
This tour so reminded me of my in-laws place in Coochbehar. I last visited the place in 1993 (you were probably not born then!). The extended family still lives there. I don't think it has changed much since. Of course it's not beautifully done up like yours is!
I remember the lush greenery, the sari clad, sindoor-shakha-pola wearing beautiful, graceful women, their whole existence being one of cooking good food & taking care of kids. I remember the coconut trees swaying in the breeze, the huge jackfruit hanging from trees, the kola plants that everyone had in their homes, the jaswant trees, the areca nut khet, the fragrance of huge lemons during the night. The small ponds after every few houses where children swam throughout the day during the summer, the beautiful sight of a sheet of fireflies over the unseen pond during the pitch darkness of the night, the bellowing sounds of frogs croaking mating calls during the monsoon, the tik-tik of huge lizards, the snails of various sizes which made me squirm, the mother duck with her ducklings following her, swimming across our water logged family courtyard, the water snakes swimming gracefully by while we sat on the steps of our respective homes with a cup of tea, chatting across the water logged courtyard, the kids being carried around by the women of the house like an additional appendage to their bodies, the sight of Thakurma cutting dried coconut palm leaves throughout the afternoon to make them into 4 jhadus, waking up to the sounds of different musical instruments & melodious singing emanating from different homes at 6am, the sight of my 2 year old son's ecstatic smile while collecting falling leaves from a litchi plant into a coconut shell, the smell of fish & mustard oil which nauseated me when I went there for the first time (I am a Gujarati, a ground nut oil having vegetarian), the sound of a live magur maachh in water in a dekchi in the kitchen, the sight of the lady of the house serving rice by pressing it onto a thali in the shape of a cone & the 5 sabzis & fish & dal served with it course wise. . . . I remember being shocked when told that there are no taps or tap water & the 25 member family laughing at my expression of consternation while I stood helplessly looking at a hand pump! 😀 The cool mud & chataai houses in Dhupgudi where young girls stood behind their fathers & changed clothes while the father stood patiently, the so-called bathroom where I was asked to take a bath, made of chatai & a flat stone in the mud to sit on my haunches while taking a bath in an open air no-ceiling bathroom in the compound with no latch, with just one bucketful of cold water, the fear of someone peeking in (I was a city girl experiencing village life for the first time!), the shock at the sight of my normally jeans-tee shirt-shoes clad, loud western music favouring Professor husband so comfortably chatting in 'their Bengali' wearing only a gaamchha, helping to light the chullah. . . The gift of a 'synthetic saree' for the notun bahu (which was me, even after 2 children), the experience of making 'payosh' in a huge handi over a huge portable chullah in a ghamela, taken out on special occasions for a family function like birthdays of kids etc., the apprehension on the Kakimaas faces when I made it with condensed milk, (after that all of them started making it that way), the 'adbhut' comment that I got from various Kalua when they tasted my version of alu paratha, which I had to make in the houses of all 5 Kakus for their huge families every time I visited. The sweet gesture of my various little nonods in the age group of 2-15, who broke tej patta leaves & cinnamon bark for me to take away, cleaning, drying & arranging them size wise & tying them neatly with a thread. The sheer artistic talent of my little nonods who made beautiful bridal decorations on my 1 year old daughter's face every other day. These are my memories of my 4 visits to Coochbehar &1 visit to Dhupgudi during 1989-93. Still treasure them.🙏🤗🌹🌿

I have seen this video almost 1-2 years back. Today it's a wintery cloudy morning here at my place (in malda) and a few minutes back here lying in my bed at 7.25 suddenly I don't knw why, it remembers me this video, I can feel the vibe of your place.. I unlock my phone searched you and watched it. The vibe and feeling of this video is so so fresh and earthy..it has a mild fresh smell of forest, hilly area... loved the video ananya di ❤❤❤thankyou for sharing this ❤😊
