Right in that moment of thinking... that was the most important lesson I got back in 1985 from Producer Conny Plank, and you demonstrating it now honestly in your lesson. Congrats, this is one of the best learning video.s I have seen in my 45 years playing..You have just helped the new Generation of players, in ways that they don’t even know.yet..By the way, I just love your playing. Greetings from Germany, Raoul Walton.
There are so many very good bassist out there, but you Janek, are an exception. Your playing is melodically and harmonically so beautiful, passionate and extraordinarily good. I started playing the bass guitar only about 18 months ago, but I have to say, you are and inspiration. Please, keep as all updated with your thoughts and play.
I’ve been subscribed for a good while, but you really hooked me with this video. I’m going to make this video a study piece. This is right where my next step up is. Thank you. I think I’ll get this book.
I've been learning the altered scale through the cycle of 4ths starting on the lowest scale note etc in the first position along with all different counts. It did my head in to begin with but is increasingly becoming easier & easier. It has to be like 'falling off a log', no disconnect 😊 I was doing this prior to seeing this video so sweet timing! And applying it to 7th chords etc etc etc makes some cool sounds.
it;s just a Loc b4.....( it;s just b3 and Maj3 You can just use ALL DOMINANT chord...( itll be as if you're play the cycle of Dominant....B7...to E7..to A7......A7 D7, G7.....G7....C7 F7..ect I just use the dominant pentatonic as a a skeleton I can get away with Mix #2, #4 You can make different chords from the same root. Maj. min7. domiant...full or half diminished. I can play mix b2...mix b2, b6.. or loc b4...loc b4, bb7...loc b4, bb6...or loc b4, bb6. bb7 if you want. it sounds cool if you cant do it...but it gets RETARDED or sounds like a bunch of jibberlish after the luster is gone. Gatta work on phrasing...or know other stuff..to keep it balance as a whole. Playing the bass is like playing the guitar..I can pick all kinds of cool chord progression using only the bottom 4 strings. I can play the bass...better than my bass player.
You got me Janek ! I just ordered the book from Amazon . I just wish there had been a spiral bound edition available, but I’ll get my local office supply/copier store to do that to it. You’re probably going to tell me there IS a spiral bound one available. Oh well… I didn’t see it
This is so cool Janek. Question, when you're just practicing using your organic, almost unaffected tone, what are you adding to it? Sounds like just a touch of reverb? Or is it delay? Any compression? etc :)
3:23 he started playing the lick then changed it
Lol literally happened as I was reading your comment. Cracked up laughing

Repetition is the way forward,it has totally worked for me over the last 6 years. Thanks Janek merry Xmas from England
Amazing fluidity and command of the fretboard!
I love your lesson videos and have one of your books. I always like to practice everything in all 12 keys. That's been a great help to my learning.
Keep teaching! We must keep this kind of music going, there is no music like this anymore in main stream sadly. I admire what your doing.

Watched the video, bought the book. :-) Thanks Janek.
where can you find a bass with high 5th string?
Any regular 5 string bass will do the trick, but you'll probably have to change the nut
Sold.... thanks you two
Does the physical copy come with videos?
If you buy the physical book through amazon, you can download the video companion here: tinyurl.com/y6uasfhn
