Thank you so much for this video. It is very helpful. I just bought my house a little over a year ago. I’ve finished the interior renovation and finished the front garden. Now I’m getting ready to tackle the backyard which is completely lawn. I’m going to check out all of your other videos and I’ve subscribed.

Thank you for this! I've been wanting to bring Piet style to my yard too! Pink Muhly is native here in SE Texas. It is a softer pink. It's gorgeous when backlit by the sun, so I've kept it along western edges. It does stay in smallish clumps.

Thank you for confirming pink Muhly is a softer pink - that's good to know :o)

I am new to gardening (despite my profile photo). In San Francisco Bay Area. I have been looking at Piet’s work and growing my plants from seed while I figure out how to do exactly what you are working on! I have a similar sized yard, similar slope, dog who loves grass. I am in the process of terracing. I am growing plants from seed: perovskia, echinops, eryngium, several salvias & agastache (purple & peach), blue fesuca, rosmaries. They all have barely 2 leaves each. But I figure it will be a year before I figure out where to put them! I also have been struggling with the need for structural elements, and have also decided on balls. But I’m not using box, I am going to make low round topiaries from plants that have mounding habits.
Sounds like an easy first garden right?
Anyway I am beyond thrilled to see someone who knows what they’re doing do what I would like to do.
Have subscribed. Can’t wait for updates!

So interesting, I can’t wait to see the plan come to life! On future design videos, would you be able to share the size of the garden features? As a beginner, I find it so difficult to interpret scale with plants!

The top lawn is 4.5m wide. For scale look at the fence panels they are 6ft wide (1.80m)

Creating this look in a small garden is quite the challenge. I am not sure how you'll be able to fit all the plants in those pockets around the lawn, but I am looking forward to finding out and seeing how this will look

Indeed, I suspect I will need to reduce the number of plants I've put in the first draft... that should help!

😆 as I'm watching, I'm thinking, "that's nice", "ooh, I like that"... started feeling a bit like the garden design version of 'single white female' 🤫😂

Just as long as you don't start acting like one, it's fine!!! ;o)
