Straight up, this is the best M/C channel out there. Short, sweet and to the point. With these new "clones" that have popped up since brands have been "resurrected", it begs the question; why buy a clone that drops in value when you can get the real deal and, not only is it a classic but will only go up in value? Computers? Fuel injection? Diagnostic electrics? I don't think that we will be seeing these "newbies" in the National Motorcycle Museum collections, at least not in my lifetime. Keep the videos coming, it helps me figure out what and what NOT to add to my collection.
I have 134,000 Km on my 2017 T100. It is a wonderful riding experience. It follows the styling of the great Edward Turner considered by many to be the ultimate. The engineering has developed since 1959 whilst remaining true to the design. You will see irritating comments about fakery, mostly picked up from reviewers who've used the term. The bikes are a joy.
The oil cooled twins were fairly reliable, though not Japanese reliable. The new water cooled, I recommend a extended warranty. 50 years a motorcycle technician.
i had a blue and silver 2001 790cc carbs rejeted with 17t sprocket good for 120mph .. did 38,000 miles ..sorry to sell but just got to old .. only bike i will miss
I can't help feeling that most of on board footage of a supposedly modern Bonneville was in fact aW650 Kawasaki similar to be sure but not quite the same
Hmm could be that some footage was mixed up. I’ll have to check when I’m back off tour. This was done a while ago n I’m not without my flaws 😊 cheers for letting me know
My last Bonnie was a '71 with square block Amal carbs. Scuffed the sidewalls off the Bridgestones and scared my mates on big Japanese bikes on twisty stuff.
Bought mine for Twisties, the upright riding position and great retro looks. My ego wanted more power but the 0-60 is more than enough for daily use but my fz09 and street triple friends run off and leave me sometimes 🤔
Gday from Aus. Love your channel. Please do a similar video on the Triumph Thunderbird of the 90s. Have always wanted one of those and wonder if they are now good to collect. Thanks.
i wasnt a big fan to be honest, just sitting on it my legs were splayed so wide i felt like i was being violated lol. may work better on Aussie roads, but unless the size of the block is critical i would look at the older Speedmaster for that style. the stress on the engine internals with pistons as big as they are on the Tbird would likely cause faster wear and tear i would say. theres a reason people dont make 1000cc singles :-) 🙂Cheers for watching and for the comment mate. Personally, I think the difference is fairly minor in the scheme of things but if we all thought the same it would be a boring world mate, 🙂 🙂there is more in the main video linked in the description 🙂Cheers for watching mate. Ride Free 🙂
i wont argue the individual dates, but do remember, different markets........... they were the official release dates i found, but ive been wrong before n almost certainly will be again, i do my best
790 and first couple of years of 865 for you then mate lol, ive tried a few, honestly, they just dont pull like a twin should to me, no bottom end surge, the character of a sewing machine lol good but a bit soulless
@@barebonesmc Yeah, I'm just going by memory of that one relatively short ride on that one 650 Bonny years ago. It was a pleasant bike but I do remember it being pretty gutless for a 650, it's just that memory of thinking "I could almost live with a bike like this" but, I do like some serious power too so, probably not for me at all if I'm serious. One's gutless and the other's all fake pretend so nahh, I'll pass thanks anyway.
They are not '' fake '' anything. They are fuel injectors. They have to be where they are which happens to be where the carbs were for the same reasons. So your objection is that they resemble the look of the carbs which is stupid. Do you object to the digital clocks looking like originals? Or the exhaust pipes? The engine fins...? I could go on. They are '' retro sty;e " bikes FFs the clue is right there. Cancel Reply
@@asacarrick1385 I get all that, it doesn't mean I have to like it though. As for "fake carbs" YES, they are. Being real "real fuel injectors" doesn't change that fact.

not all injectors are placed there to be fair, and just like you, everyone is entitled to their opinion, and water cooled engines dont need fins, so why add metal and so weight that isnt needed?
@@barebonesmc Actually the fins on the water cooled twins are actually functional and provide some of the cooling , this is why Triumph get away with such small radiator on a 1200cc engine , it's not much larger than the 865cc oil cooler
I actually preferer the look of the water cooled twins .think they have more of the look of the original Bonneville's , not sure about others in bonneville range but the Thruxton 1200 wc is actually lighter that the air cooled 900 Thruxton Don't dislike the air cooled twins but given the choice would go for later wc 900 over the air cooled , not much difference in HP but the 900 water cooled has really good low / mid range punch that the older 865 lacks . Both great bikes I know the later ones had few electrical problems but both have bullet proof engines , one thing you got to watch on air cooled engine is a kick back can shear starter pinion boss ,writing off the engine
Cheers for adding this. We might not agree but as i have often said, if we could amass the combined knowledge of all the subscribers we would have the most comprehensive motorcycle encyclopedia ever 🙂
@@barebonesmc Do like the air cooled twins and think the Enfield 650 twins are great bikes , not sure about Goldstar 650 engine sounds and looks fake imo ,prob bit bias as have Thruxton 1200
