----- SLEEP ----
Sleep is a period of rest when your body is unconscious but your brain and other functions are still active. It's a complex biological process that helps you stay healthy, process information, and feel rested.
Here are some things that happen during sleep:
Brain activity
Your brain cycles through different stages of sleep, each with a different pattern of brain waves.
Body functions
Your breathing, heart rate, and temperature may slow or speed up during different stages of sleep.
Energy use
Your body uses less energy while you're asleep, which allows your cells to resupply and repair.
Memory processing
Your brain reorganizes and catalogs memories and learned information.
Hormone release
Your body releases growth hormone, which helps children grow and adults repair cells and tissues. It also releases sex hormones, which contribute to puberty and fertility.
Immune system
Your immune system becomes more active during sleep, which can help you fight infections.
Sleep is important because it affects many of your body's systems. Not getting enough sleep or enough quality sleep can increase your risk for heart and respiratory problems, and affect your ability to think clearly.
------ ASMR -----
Here are some studies on Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR):
Emotional and physiological correlates of ASMR
This study used two experiments to test the physiological and emotional aspects of ASMR. The study found that ASMR videos increased pleasant feelings only in people who experienced ASMR. It also found that ASMR was associated with increased skin conductance levels and reduced heart rate.
ASMR and frisson
This study found that ASMR can occur in both positive and negative emotional situations. It also found that ASMR-capable individuals were more potent than neutral and relaxing priming groups.
The effects of autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) on mood
This study found that 80% of participants reported that ASMR improved their mood. Half of the participants reported mood improvement even when they didn't experience tingling sensations.
What Is ASMR?
ASMR is a sensory phenomenon where people experience tingling sensations on their scalp and neck in response to specific audio and visual triggers. These triggers can include whispering, tapping, hand movements, and personal attention. The tingling sensation can spread to other parts of the body, such as the arms, shoulders, neck, spine, and legs. People often describe ASMR as a feeling of relaxation and well-being.
Not everyone experiences ASMR. Some people find that ASMR stimuli have no effect on them, or even have a negative effect.
