2:44 - Yeah, that's because that *_is_* Robert Englund himself, without the Freddy make-up, playing the bus driver in this opening scene(but not in the scene at the end). 17:35 - The reason the gym lights looked that dim & hazy were because they had already been shut off for the night earlier that day. When Coach Schneider turned them back on for Jesse to run laps, they hadn't yet warmed up to their full luminescent brightness. Freddy actually looked his scariest & most sinister in this movie. A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors(1987) is a *_major_* improvement upon this entry. While this film came out 1 year after the first, it takes place 5 years after that. Dream Warriors came out 2 years after this film, and takes place 1 year later(6 years after the first film). And, this won't spoil anything, but keep in mind when you watch Dream Warriors, when Dr. Gordon is talking about a former patient that the hospital lost to Fairview(which was a larger, better-equipped psychiatric facility, similar to Bellevue), the fan-theory for the last 37 years has been that he was referring to Jesse from this movie. Awesome reaction guys👍 Can't wait for you to get to parts 3 & 4!(after that, it is downhill for a bit) ////
During the events of this second movie ,Nancy must have abandoned Springwood because the town thought she was crazy, hence Grady mentioning Glenn death to Jesse . Nancy probably left the diary at the residence 1428 to help other people in the fight against Freddy . Indirectly she helped Jesse and Lisa fight Krueger.
She never left springwood because she in part 3 as a doctor aid for western hills hospital and have dinner with Neal in at her place her dad stay drunk at the bar so they never left the town they just moved off of elm street out of that house but freddy couldn't leave elm street intill part 4and spread out in part 6 the hole town was dead
I personally love Freddy's Revenge but I can see why people would think it's inferior. And Sam, I kept doing double-takes because you could be Alanis Morissette's twin! Isn't it ironic. Looking forward to checking out more of yalls reactions!
Definitely keep the A Nightmare on Elm Street movies coming. Also, the Friday the 13th and Halloween movies. And fyi the bus driver in the opening scene was the actor who plays Freddy(Robert Englund). The Chucky movies is like the Freddy Krueger movies where like the first 3 movies are a little more on the serious side and after that more comedic things start to show up in the movies.
I 100% agree with you guys. The first was phenomenal. The second did not live up to the expectations at all. You guys will love the third movie though. It’s one of my favorites in the franchise. Your guys’ reactions are the only ones that I get super excited to watch. Can’t wait for more!!
So 2 gets a lot of flack for breaking a lot of the rules, the thing is that at the time there weren't really a lot of rules for freddy to begin with. I still love part 2
You were right tristan that was Robert englund driving the bus...both of you are gonna live part 3...dream warriors..I won't spoil it for you but there is a nice surprise in the 3rd one!🙂
I'm pretty sure Freddy was trying to transfer himself to Jesse's body so he could take his powers to the real world. That's what I got out of why he was using Jesse to begin with.
Greetings and a safe Spooktober to all. 🙏 That Robert Englund/Freddy Krueger Cameo as the bus driver before the bus went nuts will always be special. 😂
I hardly encourage you to check out Nightmare on Elm Street 3- Dream Warriors. That's the truly direct sequel to the first one and a fan favourite. Part 2 is more a stand alone movie. The original franchise sequels goes from 1 to 6 and even among them, 2 is kinda of erased. 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6 are in the same continuity. Then we have stand alone movies such as New Nightmare (Wes Craven, the director from the first one, came back) that is a very interesting meta experience before Wes Craven directed Scream and make a nice trilogy with 1 and 3; Freddy vs Jason, a very fun crossover between the two slashers icons and the lazy and inevitably remake from 2010. It's not a very big franchise, "only" 9 movies, if we considerer that Freddy is such a popular horror character.
And you guys made the right calls about the cash and grab rushed sequel. The director of this movie wasn't a fan of the dream concept of the original (which is stupid because was all the uniqueness of the first one) and didn't care about the rules and the lore. Regardless, this movie is gaining a cult following throught the years because of the gay subtext (freddy was an allegory of Jess repressed homossexuality). The actor was a gay man in real life and there is a documentary on how this movie ruins his carrer because of the prejudice from the time period, the AIDS crazy and that stuff. So, it's a movie with some layers. But, again, Part 3 is the real sequel that goes bigger, making Freddy the icon he is today, with expansion of the lore and the return of characters from the original so as very cool new ones. I love your reactions. Keep the good work.
12:27 some say that part of the school was also used on Back to the future too. To me the movie is good but not THAT good,1,3 and beyond is better, except for...i cannot tell it would be spoiler. Pretty sure Freddy did that to the guy because he was g*y or something, after all,he was in a g*y bar. Now,kinda crazy that everyone do walk street almost naked like for example Tina,Nancy in the Pijama and now Jeese also on Pijama. One funny thing, some reactors said that, call your parents, why your dad or mom are not there and soo,Glen died and his mom was there,in here Dad did something but Freddy was like...oh a shootgun!!!...hahahaha,AAAHHAHAHAAH. Don´t get mad when someone get killed by Freddy?,Grady,Tina, they make us love the cast and then make us sad to see them die by him. When Freddy teleport in the garden with fire,Netherrealms used that in Mortal Kombat 9,it was perfect.
Great reaction! As you were getting at, as adults, we would totally overthink this one. You are correct that it was put together quickly and, keep in mind, it was meant to be watched by the MTV generation of 1980s teens at the time, which most were not looking for more than a few good scares. By the next one, they realized there was no need to talk down to the core audience. NO SPOILER: Nightmare 3 is definitely the fan favorite (although Part 7, aka Wes Craven's New Nightmare is AMAZING). Two things to remember going into Part 3: First, a main theme of the Nightmare series is how parents do not listen to their kids. So, like part 1 and part 2, one thing I think you might be getting frustrated with is that the parents do not believe their kids. This was an important reflection at the time in the 1980s. That frustration is INTENDED by the filmmakers to empathize with the kids watching these moves, of whom were not being listened to by their parents. And this will continue in the series. Second: The longer people stay awake, the more they start to hallucinate/dream. So, like Nancy with the tongue phone in Part 1 or with Jesse in Part 2, some of the things that happen, even if they are not asleep, are b/c they have stayed awake so long. So, they are sort of starting to dream while awake b/c they are so tired. Part 3 (Dream Warriors!) is a much stronger entry in the series. Can't wait to see your reaction!
Freddy was using Jessie body as a vessel to come out in the real world so ever time Jessie would go to sleep Freddy got in his body. At first a lot of people felt the same way u too felt about this movie because it was so different from the first one but as time went on it developed a cult following u start to appreciate for what it is
Freddy at the pool party outside of the dream world is why Wes craven (the guy who came up with Freddy and the nightmare elm street idea) didn’t return to do Freddys revenge. They get better I think I speak for everyone on that.
No, Wes didn't return because he didn't want the movie to even spawn a sequel. It had nothing to do with any specific elements in the movie. The pool party scene is also nothing to complain about because it's Freddy in the real world through Jesse. Why do people think he just magically appeared there without someone dragging him out of a dream? It wasn't like that at all if you payed attention to the movie. Freddy was killing through Jesse and was slowly morphing Jesse's body to look like his.
Not really. 3 is overrated and 4 is simply alright. The series went downhill by then. 3 would have been better if they kept Freddy dark and sinister but giving him "personality" is what killed his scare factor, and he became too likeable. That was clear by that Dokken music video where he was a complete joke...having a bad dream himself, REALLY? The dream warrior concept was also a bust because the characters didn't really explore their powers to the fullest and Will and Taryn quickly got taken out by Freddy. Those battle moments were underwhelming. Never even cared to explore what Nancy's dream power was and how goofy was she to think Joey's scream was enough to defeat Freddy. 4 took these now found dreamscape and Freddy personality moments and took it somewhere else having him too lit up in scenes, given way more lines and jokes and wearing sunglasses like it was all cool. He also started not to look as nasty as he did in the first two movies. The make-up in 3 and 4 were fine, but a stepdown and it's clear they kept losing touch with his creepiness the funnier they made him since the two couldn't really mesh well together. The makeup of Part 2 for example wouldn't work if you're giving me a Freddy whose cracking jokes and being a buffoon. By Part 5, he really started to look dried out and 6 just had him look like straight bubblegum. Oh no.
Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2 is one of the least liked in the Nighmare franchise. You should watch part 3 "Dream Warriors." It's one of the best and most beloved films in the Nightmare franchise. And the effects in part 3 are great!
This is the one A Nightmare On Elm Street film where one of the people got what they deserved because the coach Schneider was probably going to hurt Jesse possibly by doing something sexual because that is the vibe he gave of in the bar as a fetish night was clearly going on
Yeah, this movie takes place too much outside of dreams, which is why most people don't like it as much. It's still watchable, but not my fave. To be fair, the first one didn't make all of the rules absolutely clear anyway, so it makes sense they would have went in weird directions with it.
A Nightmare on Elm Street 2 is just weird and doesn't make sense with Freddy's lore, but it ended up becoming a Queer Cult classic. Essentially, in this movie, Jessie is a repressed homosexual and his homosexuality manifests itself as Freddy. You must watch A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 and Wes Craven's New Nightmare, those are amazing!!! The other ones are watchibles (4 and Freddy x Jason) or bad (5, Freddy's Dead and remake)
This film Series is like the Marvel of horror from the “80’s and 90’s”….out of 7 films 3 to 4 are great…”just like Marvel ur allowed duds here and there” it’s not like most horror now a days were you get 1 or 2 good ones and the rest are forgettable….you can ask most who watched the series 1,3 &7 are mains, 4 is good among them aswell the rest are debatable by taste all are very watchable especially by today’s standards in movies in general…so I recommend you guys to react to the whole series 1&7 being my to favorites after 7 “Wes Cravens New Nightmare” is when Wes Craven created “Scream”…and redefined the horror genre again
I saw this when I was like 6 or 7 and I thought it was homoerotic back then and I still today but I liked it .1,2,3 were the best everything after that is Doo doo
To me the biggest problem is that it largely drops the rules created by the original movie and becomes a body possession movie. I don't Freddy works nearly as well this way. Thankfully the 3rd movie reverts to the original idea.
@ericpruchnicki8685 honestly one of the reasons I love this movie. Not as good as the other 2 in the first 3 movies but it's still fun to watch none the less
It is an intentional homophobic movie actually. Because he defeat Freddy after being kissed by Lisa. It was the power of heterossexuality. Freddy represented the homossexuality he needed to overcome.

This is the worst Nightmare followed by Freddy's Dead as it goes against the lore. The 3rd gets back to the true way of A nightmare. My all time fav is Dream Warriors. I always watch a Nightmare in this order.. 1, 3, 4, 5 and New Nightmare and sometimes Freddy vs Jason but the acting in that one is terrible.
I say that you should watch the next one a part 4 and Freddy vs Jason those and the really good ones in my opinion but me and most fans of the franchise agree that the 5th one sucks same with the 6th one but that’s just my opinion
2 isn’t the best but i’d say it’s okay. the gay undertones are a bit much but the concept is interesting and it has some good moments. freddy is arguably at his darkest here. “you are all my children now” is an iconic freddy quote despite how this movie was received.
ugh this one kinda sucks imo. it not the worst but 3 and 4 are so much better. I'm a huge nightmare on elm street fan I like all the movies but this one's my least favorite.
Elm Street 2 imo was the worst of all of them - just didn't like it at all - but the 3rd was deffo my fav - and when you've finished all the elm streets and a few of the Friday 13ths - if you want a real horror laugh its gotta be Freddy Vs Jason!!
Don't waste your time with the rest of the franchise, it's not worth it. React to Wes Craven's New Nightmare (1996) which has a lot of references to the first movie and it's great. And then you should move on to other movies: Hellraiser (1987), The People Under The Stairs(1991) and Candyman (1992)
Part 3 is what you guys need to check out. It goes deeper into the realm of dream capabilities.

Or she left the diary because she simply forgot it. Who would have thought that someone else would live in that house?
The school bus driver was Freddy, aka Robert Englund, and one of the rare times we get a male lead in a horror movie with Jeese
The concept of the first movie is that the whole thing is one dream, but once they started making sequels the canon is that it actually happened.
