I just got my nexus 7 2013 yesterday. I gave my 2012 7 to my wife and after playing with this tablet for the past 24 hours, it is a huge difference. I have fallen in love with this tablet. The display is gorgeous, its lightning fast, the speakers sound great, it doesn't give me WiFi issues. I could go on and on.
Hey there Kevin, If I'm not mistaken, the Nexus 7 2013 has a Snapdragon S4 Pro SoC (much like the Nexus 4), not the Snapdragon 600 that you stated in the video. Just letting you know :)
It's all about what one needs. Actually that's why I didn't go with this particular tablet. The Note 10.1 size-wise was what I needed especially for school. I use my S4 for everything else. I would've gotten the Nexus 7 in a heartbeat if I didn't need the size and functionality of the 10.1.
Actually just purchased the original 2012 Nexus 7 on eBay 32G capacity at a steal for $130, I like the 2013 Nexus but I could pass on the rear facing camera, Nexus cameras are notoriously horribly (I own a Nexus 4) and since they both get the latest android updates didn't seem like a major push to get the newer version. Still works seamlessly. Good video!
Thank's for your opinions and I also using nexus 7 2012, there are not so much different spec between nexus 7 2012 and 2013.for me it's satisfied maybe my plan want buy nexus 2014 for next year.
I had the 2012 but the yellow tint bother the crap out of me while the Nexus 2013 the colors looked more natural but nothing beats the HTC One color balance because the gray looks like gray but so far the 2013 is my on the go Android tablet
They're both categorized differently. Nexus 7 (Tablet), Nexus 5 (phone). So if you wanna talk to people wherever and text and have internet wherever, Nexus 5. But if you're more to use wifi and not talk on the phone, 7.
I think it would be better if you showed the stock launcher/ROM in comparison videos. People could get distracted and maybe think that the software versions aren't exactly the same.
I love all of Google's services like Drive, Plus, Gmail, TH-cam, Docs, etc., so the fact that they have some very amazing devices is really titilating to me xD Can't wait for the Nexus 5!!
my nexus 7 2012 doesnt seem as choppy and slowed down during web browsing like yours does. it also loads pages faster than yours did. i didnt get the 2013 model because i didnt think the update was that significant. still dont
I recommend you wait and see exactly what it's going to be like before you make a decision. Personally, I prefer a phone to a 7-inch tablet, but that's just my opinion.
I don't think you should be making an either/or decision since they are both different types of devices. If you need a phone, you should get the Nexus 5. If you don't want a phone but just want a tablet, get the Nexus 7. The Nexus 7 will not be a replacement for an actual phone.
Nice vids guys :d. Anw, could you do a review of the asus fonepad 7 2013, the one with dual core intel processor, or compare intel and arm, say snap dragon 800 or 600 with the dual core intel? Much appreciated. Thank you.
I do also have a HTC One (thinking of the S5) and the iPad. Don't understand why Android users hate Apple or say how users pay £250 for the logo. It's more or less the AppStore. For tablets, if it's Android + Google Play and Apple's AppStore, I would get one. For phone, I believe Google Play is on par thus not requiring the AppStore.
I have the 2012 bought the 32 gig at the price of the new 16 gb one at 229.99 but gonna wait till price drop on the new one gets the same 32gb probably this summer.
15% are you sure it's that high% Only one of app TapaTalk (excluding games, and google apps) are actually coded for a tablet where as it's only 2 apps that are not optimised on my iPad (BBC Radio and Speedtest).
The Nexus 7 (ASUS-1A008A) is both thinner and lighter than its predecessor. It is manufactured by Asus, and comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064-1AA SoC, (1.5 GHz quad-core Krait 300 and an Adreno 320 GPU). The new Nexus 7's SoC is believed to be a variation of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 600 processor (Branded as "S4 Pro") underclocked to 1.5 GHz. Who is right?
I'm using an ipad mini, I can say that I'm happy with it. Though, since I saw the nexus 7 2013 it really amazed me. I'm fine with the mini's screen, though I couldn't play hd movies, for almost all the time. So I'm planning to change it with the nexus 7 2. Please help me. Is it with the change?
It's not slow and weak, benchmarks higher than the 2012N7 with its 1.3 Ghz dual cores for starters, pretty quick per say which the demo unit I have used, but again my heart goes to android when it Coe,s to phones. Sent from my HTC One running 4.3
The tegra gpu tech is outdated similar to what you'd find on desktop and laptop gpus from 2003. Adreno on the 2013 edition (Mali, PowerVR) uses modern tech

I'm completely in love with my 2013 N7 couldn't have gotten a better tablet
Me too. I sold my 2012 and just got the 13. Great upgrade, I recommend it.
Really good comparison idea. Keep up the good work!
This guy is very refreshing. He really makes his words pop.
I still love my nexus 7 (2012) edition! It runs and looks like I just took it out of the box.

Own both and I can tell you there the same tablet functionality wise but other than that everything about the 2013 blows the old nexus away
You are sick at making videos ! They actually keep me entertained lol

Excellent review Sir!
i absolutely love my 2013 nexus 7, had the 2012, and it got slow after a bit
I don't know why, but this guys voice would be a awesome narration
Should I get the nexus 7 2012 in 2015 is going to be my first tablet
Hey, I just saw my Google Plus post!
2013 rocks but 2012 back cover was unique and badass. New one just looks mundane.
Thank's for your opinions and I also using nexus 7 2012, there are not so much different spec between nexus 7 2012 and 2013.for me it's satisfied maybe my plan want buy nexus 2014 for next year.
I would love to see Nexus 7 versus Nexus 10!
Gonna wait until Q3 or something this year to see what's out. If they bump it up to 8 inches like I've heard I think I'll get the 2014 edition.
I had the 2012 but the yellow tint bother the crap out of me while the Nexus 2013 the colors looked more natural but nothing beats the HTC One color balance because the gray looks like gray but so far the 2013 is my on the go Android tablet
I think I'm gonna stick with my old one.. Because yeah the newer one is good but It does all I need

Is Kevin a new AA addition? Welcome :) good review brah
I think it would be better if you showed the stock launcher/ROM in comparison videos. People could get distracted and maybe think that the software versions aren't exactly the same.
I like the nexus 7, just mad that the android tablet market ain't in yet.
Great comparison!
can you show us what have on your new nexus because it looks like you customized it very well
Dude, the jungle queen..... I did that this summer also!
The old nexus 7 is still a brilliant device, I'm an iPad user but I much prefer the nexus
I love all of Google's services like Drive, Plus, Gmail, TH-cam, Docs, etc., so the fact that they have some very amazing devices is really titilating to me xD
Can't wait for the Nexus 5!!
Its really awesome...
Wanna buy it..
But from where ?
Check spelling at 4:34. All in all, great video!
If you don't have either and want to get one, get the new one. for £200 I have no regrets. great device
u in android authority ? i saw u on xda tv
Still sticking with my 2012 nexus 7, until the 2014 nexus 7 comes out. I just want Google to add a micro sd slot. Sometimes 16gb isn't enough.
my nexus 7 2012 doesnt seem as choppy and slowed down during web browsing like yours does. it also loads pages faster than yours did. i didnt get the 2013 model because i didnt think the update was that significant. still dont

Its theme for UCCW Called Circle Weather paid on play store
I might be getting one in like a week (the 2012 version) :D
Nice vids guys :d.

It's a difficult choice between the LG gpad & the nexus 7 2013. Have some options to weigh.
It has a low end snapdragon 600 ( low clockspeed). Because of the krait 300. An original s4 pro has krait 200
When is the Nexus 10 2nd generation tablet coming out?
I have two kids they wanted Ipads I said no they cost to much so I got two nexus 7 and had $ left over compared to getting one ipad and they love them
Nexus 7 2nd gen still have those multi touch/freeze/black screen/reboot/X problem?
If people who have the nexus 7 2012 should upgrade or not. Yes, obviously the new one is better, but would the upgrade be necessary?
Name of the icons theme?
Name of the Wallpaper?
How you do the multi-app like the galaxy note?
You guys rock!!!
will you buy him both?
am i missing something here. isn't the lower powered snapdragon 600 an s4 pro?
Well it all depends on what your current phone is
I have the 2012 bought the 32 gig at the price of the new 16 gb one at 229.99 but gonna wait till price drop on the new one gets the same 32gb probably this summer.
Straight up review...good info...
I've heard that the multitouch response is bad on the nexus 7 2013, is that true?
15% are you sure it's that high%

Excuse me anybody know which app is he using beside the floating toucher ,the one at the left corner similar to Samsung's shortcut

I might get one for my parents
Hey Kevin which is those floating apps on N7 2013? (3:43)
Is it with the change?
nice video, thank you
How does he get that design for the app layout?
hopefully next nexus 10 won't be just a stretched nexus 7 like it was last year.
It's not slow and weak, benchmarks higher than the 2012N7 with its 1.3 Ghz dual cores for starters, pretty quick per say which the demo unit I have used, but again my heart goes to android when it Coe,s to phones.

Google has planed anything for nexus 7 2013???
Will I buy nexus 7(2013) or nexus 5 plz plz reply.I am bit confuses
Dammit, I just replaced my 2012 right before this was released. Now it looks like an etcha-sketch.
Also watching on my nexus 7, wondering why my os doesn't look like that
The new nexus 7 reminds me of an iPod touch 5th generation in gray!!!
Whats that blue semicircle at the left edge of new nex7?

is that ken block driving the ford fiesta??
Are you using PA on the 2013 model?
do they have got a nexus 7 2014 model
GeForece?
My 2012 nexus screen cracked which i don't know why. Thinking of trying to buy the 2013 edition....
yea i've been asking the same question
Why do you think so?
I have MacBookAir-syndrone. I never use my tablet anymore, so I'm a little biased
Wait does it have an s4 pro or a snapdragon 600?
I have a Note 10.1, but I never use it ever since I got my Air
Why aren't they stock?
they could have put the speakers in front especially with those humongous bezels. but for the price you pay, ipros far outweighs the cons.
Good video!
what's the weather widget at 2:08
i see you sneaking in paranoid android on the n 2013
Because it's the holiday shopping season I guess.
Will there be a give away ofcthe galaxy s4 zoom in the future?
Looooooool 6:02 the Nexus 7 2012 is laggy as hell
What kind of a question is that? 2013
Wonder why they'd make this video now
My bro !!!!
android phones cost almost the same and they don't even develop their own OS. it's easy when you don't need a software team on it.
Cuba gooding jr is you ?
i think this question should be answered .... i was also thinking of it??? :D
Seriously guys should I buy the nexus 7
