  • What it actually takes to do a utv desert race car build to be score/ bitd legal. This is all opinions and I have chosen the part and components I feel are the best quality.

You forgot to mention... After you lawn dart the car a few times, you'll almost double that number and then go through hell trying to get rid of the thing on craigslist/racedez for pennies on the dollar to get your self into a 7200 or 6100 car... IMO haha Good video tho!

Just a couple of questions. First is it required to start with a manufactured UTV that are $$$ or can you build your own to some specs for parts instead of replacing most of the entire thing to compete? Second how much rougher is running through a course already torn up by the big power and tires of other classes with little tires. Third how do they with those tires do in deep silt? Are there 2wd UTV's doing the deep silt to ? Did you know about RDC and others I imagine sell race cars and trucks of various classes new and used?

Very good video. Thanks. Question though; from what I can gather for BITD you have to use all the factory suspension mounting points and factory lower frame, basically. Your rear shocks are obviously not mounted in the factory position, so you are not BITD legal, correct?

Great video but is this really the budget for starting desert racing? Is there any other starter class apart from mx, Atv.

Correct, for the "Pro Production 1000 utv class" which get far more attention then unlimited. Suspension points may be gusseted but not moved. Shock mounting points may be moved. Factory frame rails must be used. It must "appear" as a factory utv which is loose, just keep the hood and look. Transmission can be internally modified but maintain factory design. Motors can get built from the crank up but not over 1000cc and naturally aspirated. Besides rear light requirements score and bitd are the same and you can find the rules on score-international or bitd sites.

+Levi Gilkison Any idea how much an unlimited UTV would cost then?
