    When you’re using only one block of gel maybe wad up a couple old blankets behind it to catch the bullet. Paul Harrell style

      @andrewmconrad  ปีที่แล้ว

      Blankets would work too. Maybe a moving blanket?

    Andrew, speaking for myself, there will be no roast. The entire process of shooting ballistic gel is a mystery to me. I just watch, thinking I might learn something. And guess what, I did. I have learned from YOUR videos that .357 Sig looks to be a serious round. The downside is that is has really just one application, but that one is very important to most shooters. To me of course, ringing steel at un-real distances is much more fun.

      Yeah, 357 sig is great for self defense and that's about it. Long range shooting is definitely a lot of fun right now

    Those 9mm 124gr +p are hauling for Golden Saber. Every time I've tested them they were in low 1100's. They were the older boxes, though.

    True, having the second block would help, but clear gel is a flawed material to begin with. It tends to result in under expansion, overpenetration, and test to test inconsistency when compared to calibrated organic gel. Which is why the FBI and ammo companies don't use it.
    That being said, it's convenient and still makes for an interesting video.

      Exactly what happened with the under expansion 😂

    I love the Golden Saber. Real world On Duty application was exceptional. Expansion without over penetration. P220 .45 180gr + P

      The 45acp golden saber +p is a 185 grain....not 180! 👍

      @@kevinrichardson8859 Correct. Sorry, to many choices for my duty load. Also used golden saber 230 grain and Original black talons but can't remember the grain weight 230? still have 500 rds of black talon.

    Does Remington know that the 357 Sig spec is 1450fps out of a 4" bbl for a 125gr? First they straight up claim neutered performance at 1320 and then can't even muster 1300 from several of your shots out of a longer than 4" bbl. But hey, the 40 looked good. Thanks for testing!

    • @andrewmconrad
      @andrewmconrad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 40 has definitely been the most consistent of all the calibers I've tried

    I have a couple boxes of these in 40 s&w 165gr. I also have a Smith and Wesson FDE m&p 2.0 5inch that I use them in. I also like the winchester silvertips 155gr 40 s&w

    I don't understand why they use a metal range 124 grain 9 mm and a 180 grain heavy for the 40 much heavier so it's going to be slower and then use a light 357 Sig why don't you use $135 grain to 155 grain 40 caliber I think that'll make a lot more sense

    Put a gallon of water behind the gel to catch the bullet. Might have to use 2 gallons but it will catch it. Remington loads their better ammo closer to Sammi spec. I still say those golden sabers would be very impressive loaded 9x25 dillon. Also, the velocity specs are typically for 5 inch barrels

    I picked up a used sig xl last weekend to put on a extra xmacro grip module I have.. I almost pick up a clean used 229 in 40 dak for 549.99 I may call down and see if it's still available and put it in layaway I'm not a fan of the dak tho...
