I'm so sorry for Latvia not qualifying, even though I'm happy for everyone who did. Latvia kinda took my vote for Serbia, but since Serbia was one of my og favourites in this semifinal, I'm rooting for them to do well in the final.
Also, I'm super happy for how much people love Käärijä. I was nearly tearing up during his performance, when the rainbow lights appeared, and again when I heard the crowd cheering. I'm full of some sort of national 🏳️🌈 pride, and I feel we've already won, regardless of who takes the first place on Saturday.
I think Luke was just as surprised/relieved as you were when Serbia was finally called. haha. bless him.

hahahahahaah, Tom! That Serbia reaction!! I was doing the same thing in Belfast airport and everyone was looking at me like I was mad!! Switzerland I was pretty sure about beforehand, but I was really really really worried about Serbia after watching the show - he seemed nervous and there were a couple of tech glitches I noticed! So happy he got through - are you going to Wiwijam? I'll see you there if so :)
I do wish they hadn’t held Sweden and Norway back so late - it kind of robbed a lot of tension from the scene because the last question became the Serbia qualification. I feel a bit gutted for Malta but understand the decision. Switzerland might not be my favorite song but his vocals were great and his performance was excellent.

Agreed, with Serbia or Switzerland there would have been some tension for the rest of Europe, I think almost everyone thought it would be Norway. The only one who was really stressed out about it was Alessandra who looked like she was gonna pass out, poor girl
@@adamtideman4953 As a Norwegian my blood pressure was very low and I was nearly depressed as I gave 80 % of my votes to Malta. I really wanted to help them through. They have been my number one favourite all along.

Honestly for me at least it was nice to have some variation with a more minimalistic staging, their performance was awesome so it never became boring visually

A lot of people forget that Eurovision is not a voice contest. It's a song contest where we celebrate the diversity, the extravaganza and where camp rules. Has Verka gotten the 2nd place thanks to great vocals ? No, it's because the whole package was fun. Same with the russian grannies, same with Lordie and so on..m this is not the Voice or X factor. Every year, the public votes prove it. This was the most predictable semi final ever and I'm glad my faves went through. General message to everyone : stop hating and embrace the weirdness ! Eurovision was created to bring us together. Great reaction Tom 😊

My media takeaways were that we are seeing a new age of Powerhouse Nations. Czechia and Portugal have turned it around completely and I don't think anyone can deny anymore that they are heavy expected favorites to qualify year in year out.
I also think that Serbia has realized that it has such strength with the televote that it can send the most experimental and out there songs and still qualify no matter the results, which is huge for the artistic variety of the competition!

I was so happy about Portugal. I really thought she had one of the best performances of the night. Also really happy about Switzerland, he got through as the only ballad in this televote system, so he absolutely stole people's hearts with that performance. I'm really sad about Malta and Latvia tho, I wanted one of them in the final, instead of Croatia/Serbia. I love serbia song but I think his vocal performance was a bit off. Still a deserved qualification tho after all.
I would most certainly have sent in Malta ahead of Croatia.. not just because I liked it so much, but because arguably Let 3 had a weak performance night - especially vocally.

Rewatched the results and didnt notice gow deflated Wild Youth looked when the voting results were called. Poor dudes, but they gave it their all and it showed. Everyone brought their best show and it was tough narrowing it down

What a good selection of songs and you and the crowd's reactions have been awesome. Ngl when it was down to only one qualifier, I would've preferred a Norwegian shock NQ so Latvia could qualify, because it was such a perfect performance. Or Latvia instead of Croatia. Or I dunno, simply Latvia for one of the weaker performances of the evening :D
Anyway, I'm looking forward to the second semi and the Grand Final even more now. The hosts and crowd are amazing and I'm looking forward to see Käärijä holding up the trophy he deserves!

Great reactions 🤣 I am so sad for all the NQ , especially Malta and Latvia they looked devastated. I was bit surprised by witzerland, otherwise I was expecting all the results. Great semi, strong line up can´t wait for tomorrow. Also Yay Vesna really made it

A lot of people around the world were complaining about the quality of the sound and some echo. Not only in case of Serbia but majority of the songs.
The stage show makes a difference, Vesna are now my clear favorite act of this semi. Malta deserved to go through, in fact I tried pushing Malta, Latvia, Ireland, and Portugal across the line (4 points each), and only succeeded with the latter. My 1-pointers all made it in (Croatia, Serbia, Moldova, Czechia). Curious to see what the ROW vote distribution was.
While I was watching the results I thought to myself " Can't wait to see Tom's reaction to this " 🤣
To be fair the Maltese delegation also thought they had said Malta. They got up and cheered, it actually made me sad when I saw that.
