      If the UK government actually funded it's defense capability properly instead of hamstringing it and cutting costs at ever corner.
      You may have noticed how empty the QE is looking. And how the QE doesn't have a full CATOBAR system despite being designed to field one. This is what happens when the government cheaps out on everything. A ship the size of a supercarrier with the capability of an amphibious assault ship.
      Our defense sector is being left out to rot until Britain slips into insignificance from the world power it once was.

    The UK could use about 5 more of these and the support group of ships to go with them in todays world. How things heated up so fast caught everyone off guard. Having the deterrent of a powerful military is unfortunately a necessary evil. Europe relied too heavily on the US for far too long and got complacent. And now the rush is on. Be safe everyone. Love not hate. Compassion over greed. Life over death.

    • @1chish
      @1chish ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh dear. They hardly 'dwarf' the QEs mate. They (Nimitz) are barely 150 feet longer in the bow and the QE's flight deck is actually wider for longer. They operate differently that's all.
      Oh and that 100,000 ton displacement? Its because they are nuclear powered and need 5,000 crew. QEs are 70,000 tons all up because they are conventional and are highly automated.

    Not sure why we built a ship the size of a supercarrier with the capability of a light carrier. The US Ambhibious assault ship mentioned can perform much of the same missions as the QE can at the moment for far less cost.
    Cheaping out on the full CATOBAR system was a big mistake, especially if we expect to operate this in any sort of serious high Op tempo environment.
    Also the ship is looking very sparse, clearly procurement is being hamstrung even more than it already is... I'm guessing the government is not done cheaping out on our long term defense capability until we have none left at all.

      yes the US Marines joined HMS queen Elizabeth for 7 month maiden deployment this was more many reasons Lockheed martin has been slow in delivering f35's so the uk didnt have enough for a deployment and still have F35's for training and for missions that required stealth jets closer to home so the us marines brought 10 jets for the deployment but also as message to any adversary that the US and UK will deploy as one force under one country's command and they proved that very well with the US marines undertaking combat airstrikes on ISIS under a UK only operation and this message was very important since they sailed through the south china sea which at the time was still the main threat

    Some amazing aircraft on board its just a crying shame we can't protect it properly because most our t45s are getting repaired in dry Dock so we maybe have 2 at a time out of six so unless we are on exercises with Americans and other countries its well protected as is the other aircraft carrier to pretty shameful really but thanks to celebrities footballers business men and women politicians and big companies tax avoidance is hear to stay

    • @1chish
      @1chish ปีที่แล้ว

      No shame at all Tony other than for your incredible ignorance.
      Most of the T45s are NOT in dry dock. One is. The rest are available - out on duties or in usual home base maintenance.
      The carrier was well protected on this deployment (CSG21). Of the 11 ships and boats on that deployment 9 were British: 1 x QE carrier, 2 x T45s, 2 x T23s, 2 x Tide tankers, 1 x Fort oiler, 1 x Astute.
      Also in the flotilla was an Arleigh Burke and a Dutch Frigate. Why? Because they requested to be part of this important deployment. Even without these two ships the attached flotilla was bigger than what usually accompanies a US Navy carrier. The carrier was very well protected.
      As for the rest of your crap tax avoidance is perfectly legal. You avoid paying £12,500 tax every year but I guess that is OK? You do of course fail to mention that the top 1% of top earners like those in your list pay 30% of all income tax revenues a higher share than at any time in past twenty years. And the top 5% pay 50% of all income tax revenues.

      Also the QE and the POW carriers are protected by Type 45 destroyers which are the most advanced air defence ships in the world.
