- Iran might soon become a secular modern country! Yes! For years, Iran has been transforming into something like this. Once a hardcore Islamic nation, recently Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, a reformist or liberal-minded candidate whose ideology does not align with orthodox Islamic values, defeated an Islamic leader, Saeed Jalili, with 4 million votes!! Can you believe that??
Today, the situation in Iran has changed so much that they've had to close down 50,000 mosques!!! Women across Iran are burning burqas in various places, protesting against the government!
So, does this mean Iran is rejecting Islam now???
But let me tell you something interesting. The Iran we see today looked like this just 45 years ago! Women used to wear modern Western outfits without any hijab. Men and women used to party together. Boys and girls used to study together in schools and colleges! Girls even used to drive cars!! I know, very shocking, right? But it's very true!
But after this, Iranian people themselves removed modernism and secularism from the country... and placed Ayatollah Khomeini, and even today they are rejecting hardcore Islamic values and striving for secularism! Why did this happen after all? Lets discuss!!

Im from iran, and iran is changing unbelievably. People have brcome amazingly interested in ancient persian culture. Almost all People choose ancient persian names for their new born children instead of using religeous islamic names. We have started celebrating ancient ceremonies, like chaharshanbesouri ( fire celebration), sepandar mazdefan, etc, and we are celebrating nowruz (persian new year ceremony) like we never did before. Ancient persian places such as persepolis becomes extremely crowded during national events (not religeous events) which is incredible and a sign of people's interest in our cultural heritages and tgese things are exactly the opposite of religion in iran.q

I have friends in India who were Persians. When I asked them about their culture they told they followed Zoroastrianism as their religion. They have no trace or culture anywhere near to Muslim. That’s what I saw when I visited their home. Lovely people .

As an Iranian, I would like to say that we love Islam, it is a beautiful religion, but it has fallen into the hands of some bad people and they are using it for their own evil interests. We just want to separate religion and politics.
Any religion that does stand the test of time and change cannot live for long..The first necessity for a beautiful religion is change accordingly to the time we live, which is not there in Islam.

Iranian Zoroastrian here. I’ve been talking about this for the half past year and no one believed me. But it is happening, and Iran is a secular and Zoroastrian nation, not a Muslim nation. Islamic population is about 30% now, maybe even lower.
