I just wanted to say a huge thanks. I have been getting back into moto and building up to race the vets class at 39 years young (after 25 years off bikes). I have been riding once-a-month or so for the last 2 years but the complete lack of progress, number of mistakes, chronic arm pump etc had begun to totally break my heart. I was honestly struggling to ride hard for more than 2 laps, and I'm sure my 11-year-old self would have been appalled! Then I came across your vids... The body position (toes in, knees behind the pegs!) and cornering vids especially have completely changed my riding, and more importantly the amount of fun I am having!!!. This last weekend I managed two full 20 minute motos maintaining 80-90% capacity, managed to hold my own against much younger riders, and am still buzzing from it now! I have also passed on some of your tips to my 3 kids and they have also benefited a lot. I can't say thanks enough - if you are ever in Australia I will definitely hit you up for some tuition!
His suspension will not respond the same as any off the shelf OEM stuff that you run will. Also he is riding at a pro level which will respond way different if a c class rider was using his stuff.
Great video! Can't wait till it gets warmer here in St Louis to try the corner drills. That's exactly what I think when I watch you on Saturday's "push that comfort zone". No more white shoes on track walk! Lol Good luck this weekend! And have fun!

I can hit short quick ruts really well but when they are long and wrap all the way around a corner I end up popping out of it or Atleast standing the bike up. Any quick tips? Anyways been cheerin for ya all season keep it up!
Try lightly using the front brake the entire way around corner and if you feel the bike trying to stand up you can pull front brake in a little more to get the lean angle you need!
Gaining the confidence to come in hotter to a turn is difficult for me, too. As a woods racer especially the consequences of a blown/ missed turn are usually trees and not just a blown berm. Is the best way to get better at charging into turns I've not seen yet, and will only see for maybe 6 laps, to have better comfort and familiarity with the bike? How do you shut out your surroundings? Thanks, these videos are super helpful!!
So I was riding woods and only had 6 times through a section I would just push my comfort zone by very small increments each lap, with lap 1 being fairly conservative. The good thing about what I teach, is your braking should be complete by the beginning of turn, so overshooting your mark doesn’t result in flying off the track/into tree.

I see your technique regarding getting braking done before the turn- I know I need to work on trusting the brakes do their jobs but currently ride similar to Daniel at the start here- basically coasting up to the turn. Its MUCH more fun riding like the end, though, and charging to the turn!

Now that’s the million dollar question. I still try and make time to get in my own riding (which hasn’t happened much this year because my practice bike wasn’t finished until yesterday) and still try and get in my road bike rides/gym, but it all becomes difficult to make time for!
Love your vids Aj! Just a thought, the clip at the beginning in your office/studio; having the window directly behind you is a little distracting (maybe not the right word). Maybe rotating your setup 90degrees might help, then you have the natural light of the window lighting your face. Just a thought, we are always looking to improve :)

I’ve been riding since I was 2 and now I’m 15 and I’m starting to get good do you think it’s to late to get into racing and if it’s not to late how can I get into it?
Not too late at all, will you be a top 10 mx or sx pro doubtfully but it's never too late to race, even when you're an old man you can race. Start going to practice tracks in your area and lookup the schedule or calender on the tracks website. The best tracks will hold races and it will show the local race series name on the calendar/schedule for the days they hold the race. Once you find the local race series name Google it and you can then look up the full schedule and see when the races are at other tracks in your area and what you need to join. Most of the time you need to be an AMA member to start with which I believe is around $45 a year. Then you will need a transponder which you can get or rent for the day. Besides proper gear that's all you need to get started. However you should get a couple years of MX practice before you race in my opinion. Check out the supercross futures program if you're looking to get into supercross.

I don’t know what to think about the whole homeschool thing. I would hit that jump with my eyes closed first lap, and I’m not even homeschooled and go riding like once a week in the winter. Lucky him and good luck.
He hasn’t been riding for that long of a time. The homeschool thing for him is also because he was academically being held back too much in public high school. I had the same issue
Aj Catanzaro did not realize that. Most motocrossers have that same issue. Or their just not as smart. I’ve never been held back, but I’m also not the smartest.
It’s never too late! Although I wouldn’t necessarily rush into racing if I were you. I think it’s smart to have a solid foundation before you hop into racing
