God (1918) | A Poem by Khalil Gibran

  • Narrated by Daniel "Avi" Avinash.
Inspired by Biblical text, Khalil Gibran describes a man's quest to knowing God. He climbs a mountain with the hope of speaking to God and experiencing His presence but fails three times. He does not give up. On his fourth journey, God replies. The poem expresses the importance of determination, persistence, and even a pesterous attitude when desiring to know God.
If we seek God, He will answer... at His perfect time.
    THE PROPHET
This poem "God" is the second of 26 prose poetry fables from the book "The Prophet". In this book, poet Khalil Gibran talks about a fictional prophet Al Mustafa who lived in the city of Orphalese for 12 years and is about to board a ship which will carry him home. He is then stopped by a group of people, with whom he discusses topics about life and the human condition in general.

Recorded and produced in Melbourne, Australia by Daniel "Avi" Avinash

The Glorious Quran says "Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The example of His light is like a niche within which is a lamp; the lamp is within glass, the glass as if it were a pearly [white] star lit from [the oil of] a blessed olive tree, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil would almost glow even if untouched by fire. Light upon light. Allāh guides to His light whom He wills. And Allāh presents examples for the people, and Allāh is Knowing of all things.

Hi Samad, thank you for taking the time to comment! I truly love and appreciate your views on God. We "people of the book" have so much in common... its a pity we don't actually realise it.
May God bless you and your family always.

There is NO GOD, NOR ALLAH, OR the different gods pertaining to Hinduism , did BUDDAHA really live...did he sit under a BOHDI TREE ...all beliefs are words passed down thru/through time to gather believers...& it must be stated / said to pay your penance, often coin related for you to believe & gain acceptance into your chosen road/way of obivious disillusionment .....

    Narrated Abu Huraira:
    The Prophet (ﷺ) said,
"Allah says: 'I am just as My servant thinks I am, and I am with him if He remembers Me. If he remembers Me in himself, I too, remember him in Myself; and if he remembers Me in a group of people, I remember him in a group that is better than they; and if he comes one span nearer to Me, I go one cubit nearer to him; and if he comes one cubit nearer to Me, I go a distance of two outstretched arms nearer to him; and if he comes to Me walking, I go to him running.' @@Wisdom.Phoenix Hey. I'll try and explain to you although I can't help but assume that you might quite lack an open mind(pardon me if I am wrong).
First of all, you need to understand the difference between the ideas of the two words 'slave' and 'servant' because the Quran refers to a Servant-Master relationship(among other relationships like Creator-Creation) and not the one you mentioned. You see, we humans have a free will unlike slaves. We can choose to obey or disobey ,love or hate and so on. I hope that is simple enough.
Now, it is very much unfair to think that God as a Master will treat his servants the same as a 'Human Master' treats his servant. It is awful to think that being the servant of God makes you any inferior. Humans indeed are nothing or are 'if there was another word of lesser weight'.
We commonly perceive that a master is always rude towards his servant. We do also see that there are some kind masters who treat there servants very well. And here the Master is God, the Kindest, the Mightiest, the Most forgiving, the Most Gracious. There many such attributes of God mentioned in the Quran that a righteous, humble individual you would be most proud of becoming the servant of such a Master.
You just need to study the religion with an open mind. And I would like to point out that westernized(especially that of Modern America) ideas almost make you brainwashed to force you into thinking in a particular way. I don't say that all of the ideas are bad. But the vices of many of them are tremendous. It is sad that such a great mind like that of Khalil Gibran had been a victim of those vices.

He wasnt looking for The God. He was looking for His God.
Many people seek God, but conditionally. In terms only that are acceptable to them.
Very few seek Him unconditionally, with terms that dont matter. As long as it is really Him and His way (Allah, Islam)

1st mistake was climbing that Mountain, God is everywhere in everything, all lifeforms all inert substance.
You have No need to attend Church or Mosque, or any house if worship, remember God the Great Spirit is with you wherever you may be.
All of the so called Holy Books got it wrong, because it was penned to paper by Man. Man is Fallible and as such anything written by Man can be wrong also. Also we misinterpret many things, God's message most of all, it gets bent to suit our petty needs and desires, the Crusades and term " God wills it" for one, who are we to Know God's will, we are Soul's living a Human experience, Fighting over God is Pathetic, like Two brothers fighting over whose Father is the strongest 😔.
