      During active shooter training, we followed the (simulated) gunman but had to hang back because we were obviously worried about incoming fire. We lost visual of him for no longer than 2 seconds. I'm checking all of my corners looking for him. I turn around to rally back with my partner. I see a man leaned back in the chair, eyes wide open, not even looking at me, holding a gun directly forward, trembling. I had walked right past him. It was only a simulation, but his expression is burned into my brain because had it been real, that would have been the face of the man who killed me. Always be thinking ahead and on point brothers. You never know where your gaps are until it's too late, and that's why we train. Head on a swivel, men. 💪

    I would really like to see this series continue with two and four man team tactics, hallway clearing and commercial stairway clearing. I expect the two man teams to work off the wingman formation but the four man teams would introduce a greater need for deconfliction. Great series. I’m looking forward to a second "season" of it.

    The way your system just processes the areas so efficiently reminds of the Roman Legions. When I see such martial and tactical skill employed, I understand the beauty that made the Romans call war "bellum" or beautiful. I've never seen anything that deals with all the common problems so well. After 1300+ ActiveSelfProtection videos, I see exactly why your SOPs are what they are. Using them helped me in video games, my own practice, and I see things on helmet/body cam that many operators (far tougher and more skilled than I) could do better if they only understood the simple ideas you teach here.
    Thanks again for putting it out there for free, and I can't wait to see more lessons from "somewhere in Germany..."

    Would be interested to know how you deal with self closing doors ?

    • @Pepe-ts9ec
      @Pepe-ts9ec 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on many factors. Is the door made of glass? Can you shoot through the glass? Can you break down the door? Can you kick or shoot the lock/hinges off?
      Importantly, Is the hydraulic system exposed? (That’s the metal box on top of the doors that connects to the arm that closes the door). If it’s exposed, you can destroy it and the door will no longer close on its own. But is that tactical decision practical? Depends on time, room, noise, etc.

    This all seems easy and straight forward but the simulation should also factor in the physical, emotional and mental changes that occur in such enviroments...
    mental tunnel vision, distractions, booby traps, the rush of adrenaline, the increased heart rate and difficulty breathing, the numbness that can occur in your hands, fingers and even legs, the emotional stress, physical fatigue, mental overload, mental fog, rapid life and death decisions in milliseconds, the loud noise from screams and weapons firing and going off, debris flying everywhere (drywall, wood, brick and concrete) and ricochet, smoke and even fire that can affect view, breathing and hearing, the breakdown in communication, friendly fire, the emotional stress....a lot of these things are being abstracted away....
    Your decisions, focus and physical performance will diminish when in a real combat situation, and then theres the numbers game, the injury and loss of one person in a group of 4 means 2-3 of the team are out, the one down, the other one or two to carry the injured leaving only one effectively fighting...thats the importance of safety in a small team, risks are much greater, the impact of one loss is much greater in a small team, so friendly fire should be out of the question, team work, safety, risk assesment and situational awareness becomes paramount.

    The one thing gamers did way before the video series was checking angles / slicing a room.. Everything else is mostly non applicable in games anyways, so stop lying to yourselves about applying these tactics or show me the game where body contact between point & wingman matters, for example.. Most games don't even allow for low-ready leave alone compressing your rifle etc..

      Happens a lot during slice based entries, even for tactical officers. This is a perception and stress issue. Read ALERRT studies.

    Are these people from airsoft or real soldiers? - cause the guns look like airsoft.....

    • @antalz

      At one point they were shooting with airsoft because they were practicing force on force. Pretty complicated because the guy who's clearing the room doesn't know whether the room contains nothing, a hostile, or just a random civilian. He couldn't just shoot whatever he fancied.

    @ 00:49 that's a bad idea to go into that door focused on the left hand side as he did, because by the time he turned around to his right a hostility could shoot him from that angle.
