One thing I love about your channel is that you never do the same thing twice, or if you do, you never do it the same way. Also you show me just enough detail to understand what you're doing, so if I wanted to try it myself, I absolutely could. Great video and fun project! Thanks for sharing!
However the tone of the channel has changed from the more lighthearted, self-effacing style of the past to something more serious. It's not as fun anymore.
With the "Walnut" on the grill cloth I immediately think mid mid-century modern take on a Fender amp. I love it and would absolutely have it in a prominent place in my home.
I love your music. But, this had a very calm and increasingly rare vibe on the tubes these days. It was more intimate. I felt way more drawn into the project and process as a result. Whatever your vibe is today or tomorrow, we're here for it.
I really enjoy watching your videos! Your shop is wicked clean! I draw inspiration from many of your videos. I have been been a woodworker for 45 years and I learn something from your videos almost everything! I just wanted to thank you. Keep up the awesome work
Looks awesome. I love the fact you can see straight through the bottom hole. The whole time I thought it would sit on the hump of the w and love that it doesn’t.
Love listening at you talk on making it podcast but for some reason I never stuck with your TH-cam. Anyways, fast forward 5/6 year and I came back to check out this video. Really impressed by the constant innovation and progression you bring to your channel! Your stile is as authentic as ever before but man, what a journey from the drunken woodworker to this!
I really like these videos you do. You take such a generic looking box and you elevate it to an unheard of level. And match this with your trying to personally push yourself to try new methods and technique. Thanks for bringing us along with this journey.
I love seeing you use all your tools. I have a a pretty cool shop but I dont have all the high tech tools you have but you inspire me and give me confidence to tackle projects out of my comfort sone
FYI, watched a different video where the person needed to glue together polystyrene. He used 3M 78 as a contact cement because it's formulated to not dissolve polystyrene. Worked really well, so you might try that next time.
I don’t really have the resources to do the vacuum lamination that you did here, but that overall shape is going to haunt me until I do something like it. Thanks!
That looks awesome. I really like the form of the case. But... It would have been nicer, if you had disassembled the whole speaker and build a whole new case, not a case for the case, if you know what I mean.
Oh the amount of time I've spent in that exact area of Kencraft... Now I know why I can't find the walnut I'm looking for! 😂 Speaker looks awesome man!
Kinda missing the music in this one, but fantastic build as always. Never realized I liked the music that much until it wasn’t there, but still a great video and great to change things up sometimes!!!
there is a specific spray adhesive for foam. ... I just learned this one the other day too. ... uhh,.... GOnna look that one up. 3m 78. I've avoided spray adhesive for years cause of its annoyance and mess. but also it liked to ruin whatever I was working on.
I have to say you are my absolute favorite Maker out there. I strive to keep up with your talent. It must be a Toledo thing, I grew up right by Kencraft!
Another great custom piece. I think once you are paired with the speaker, there is not need for buttons and that's why you glued them. But how will you turn on the speaker? is that why you didn't put a backend?
I like it, I like it! Very interesting and attractive result. Looks much better than the original black rectangular speaker. Also like you background video stream. Cheers.
Love it. In fact, I loved this one so much I watched and commented from two different accounts. Just because you deserve the credit. Thanks for the video.
"I love vacuum-pressed bent laminations." ☝🏻something I never thought I'd understand / wholly agree with 3 years ago when just starting out in my woodworking hobby.
I'm only one minute in...and it was only on the screen for a split-second...but I know EXACTLY what movie you have on in the shop, my little buttercup!
I PERSONALLY think it looks stupid. On that same note? It's still DAMNED impressive and (if I knew my ass from a hole in the ground with regards to woodworking) this DEFINITELY triggers ideas like "Wait... what could I do to make something like this work in my space?" Then I start looking around. haha Friggin' AWESOME.
This is a project i've had sitting on the shelf for... 5 years now. 6? I got the speaker tore apart, then it just kinda sits there. I wanted to put it inside a canteen so it worked like the cup holder speakers. But... I gave up looking after a while and.. Now its just .. there.
I love it, David. So much more character than generic electronics. Ironic that this video doesn't have any music... Deliberate choice? Hope you're well.
Question: I thought you glued the wooden buttons to the walnut frame. Did you glue them to the radio directly? That’s the only thing that makes sense to me…. Thanks. Don’t care for the design but I love the work and the design on the fly mentality!
David - I love the build, nice job. Is your list of "Shop Rules" available somewhere? I seem to remember a video where you talk about all of them but I can't seem to find it.
Just curious if you emply your dust collector before cutting the foam? We compost all ours sawdust n shavings in one way or another so stuff like this, foam epoxy etc always is collected separaety and thrown in the trash.
One thing I’m confused about is the buttons. You used CA glue so how do the buttons move to work? What did I miss there? Anyways, this piece is sexy as hell!
Love your work. That looks fantastic. Your bandsaw book was a great inspiration for me, now every time I tell the missus I’ve got wood, she doesn’t run as far 😂

The walnut badge on the front of the amp cloth is the icing on the cake. Very nice work.
I love your music. But, this had a very calm and increasingly rare vibe on the tubes these days. It was more intimate. I felt way more drawn into the project and process as a result.
Whatever your vibe is today or tomorrow, we're here for it.
The walnut label is a chefs kiss on top!
I think this might be my favorite looking piece you’ve made yet.
I really enjoy watching your videos! Your shop is wicked clean! I draw inspiration from many of your videos. I have been been a woodworker for 45 years and I learn something from your videos almost everything! I just wanted to thank you. Keep up the awesome work
This video has a different vibe and I like it! Reminds me of your older videos. The housing is beautiful by the way.
The entire video I kept hearing, "We're having fun here! Can't we have fun here?"
The project turned out great!
Now that is really cool! Always thought it would be cool to make a walnut “case” for a laptop computer.
I love this video and the build! It’s like the Goodwill builds, only more expensive.
Looks awesome. I love the fact you can see straight through the bottom hole. The whole time I thought it would sit on the hump of the w and love that it doesn’t.
I like how you utilized so many different tools. Nice to see them in action.
Woodworking is just making practical art. Great video.
Loving the new sliding doors! The added trim piece to cover the gaps is chef's kiss!
Love it.
You can alway count on David for adventure and creativity. Not afraid to take risks. Great build!

Love the finished product. I liked the different pace of this video too. Little more relaxed.
The walnut badge and the clip from Making It were the awesome. Love your style.
Ever since your flip click video I’ve been wanting to do this to something around my house. I’ve got to try this with something. Always inspiring.
Wow, such creativity and craftsmanship! Thank you for sharing.
*The Speaker looks Awesome with the Walnut Label on it it's just Perfect!!* 🌟👍🏻
*And the Background Wood Panels looks so much Better, loved it!* 👍🏻
I love seeing you use all your tools. I have a a pretty cool shop but I dont have all the high tech tools you have but you inspire me and give me confidence to tackle projects out of my comfort sone
I love these kind of videos. Take something ordinary and make it awesome. Really great job.
Terrific project David and I am so glad that Walnut defines your style! 👍👍🔨🔨
FYI, watched a different video where the person needed to glue together polystyrene. He used 3M 78 as a contact cement because it's formulated to not dissolve polystyrene. Worked really well, so you might try that next time.
What a great video I dig these videos like this where you just creat and design on the go. Just like your goodwill builds. Keep up the great work.
Looks great I actually got the sagen w7 because of the look and size. They actually use real hardwoods on there cases you can feel it.
I don’t really have the resources to do the vacuum lamination that you did here, but that overall shape is going to haunt me until I do something like it. Thanks!
Did the buttons work with the tape??!! Leaving me hanging
One of my favorite projects you have made! Love the design, can definitely tell its a picciuto peice
"I'm not exactly sure what my style IS -"
Me: Walnut.
"- but it usually involves walnut."
Me: Respect the walnut!
This totally had a Drunken Woodworker retro vibe to it and I loved it!
I had no idea what you were going for at the beginning but dang! That came out real nice. I like that bt speaker a lot.
That looks awesome. I really like the form of the case. But... It would have been nicer, if you had disassembled the whole speaker and build a whole new case, not a case for the case, if you know what I mean.
"I'm going to make it my style.
...
I don't really know what my style is, but it usually involves walnut."
😂
That is definitely the most unusual shape I've ever seen ran over a joiner bravo, sir. Awesome project.
it was very uncomfortable running it through the first time but it worked great.
That’s one of my favorite things you’ve made. I’ve been trying to practice rule 4.
Love the casual planch on your vacuum machine
Brass buttons would look beautiful on that piece of art!
Oh! Walnut and brass! Better than beer and chips.
Really cool project well done and very elegant design! Thanks for posting.
Oh the amount of time I've spent in that exact area of Kencraft... Now I know why I can't find the walnut I'm looking for! 😂 Speaker looks awesome man!
Dude, I love this! Reminds me of a better time when things were built to be beautiful and unique.
Kinda missing the music in this one, but fantastic build as always. Never realized I liked the music that much until it wasn’t there, but still a great video and great to change things up sometimes!!!
I really like making stuff up as I go like you have with this.
there is a specific spray adhesive for foam.
... I just learned this one the other day too. ... uhh,....
GOnna look that one up.
3m 78.
I've avoided spray adhesive for years cause of its annoyance and mess. but also it liked to ruin whatever I was working on.
Great build once again! And just as Leonardo Da Vinci used to say : "Never trust the Internet!" 😉
Stunning speaker, Dave! Truly amazing work! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Dude, this is a really cool piece. I totally dig the non-Euclidian geometry that sparks a "WTF is that?" conversation. Well done. Cam out.
cam out!
Loved that you were watching my favorite movie. "Can I have your watch when you are dead?" Also, nice job on the radio.
I think it looks great but I probably would had gone for a darker speaker grill. Like navy blue or a dark grey.
Your videos always make you think, and adapt as necessary. Well done!
Not my style, but SO beautiful 🩵
I have to say you are my absolute favorite Maker out there. I strive to keep up with your talent. It must be a Toledo thing, I grew up right by Kencraft!
❤️❤️
Love watching how your brain works!
Another great project! Keep them coming!

That is supper cool. Really enjoy watching as you work through the project
"I love vacuum-pressed bent laminations."
☝🏻something I never thought I'd understand / wholly agree with 3 years ago when just starting out in my woodworking hobby.
Such a great build!! Beautifully done!
Really cool. Your skills are just always improving.
For some time now I prefer your videos over Bob and Jimmy.
Keep up the good work
I'm only one minute in...and it was only on the screen for a split-second...but I know EXACTLY what movie you have on in the shop, my little buttercup!
❤️
Nice background wood panels!! Much better... 😊
thanks, yeah, I like it so much better!
Always envious of your access to lumber. ❤
beautiful workshop!
I PERSONALLY think it looks stupid.
On that same note? It's still DAMNED impressive and (if I knew my ass from a hole in the ground with regards to woodworking) this DEFINITELY triggers ideas like "Wait... what could I do to make something like this work in my space?" Then I start looking around. haha
Friggin' AWESOME.
Someone went to cinematic filming school & colour grading school 👍😎
New camera? Looks really nice 👍
Love the new video style and backdrop David!
This is a project i've had sitting on the shelf for... 5 years now. 6?
I got the speaker tore apart, then it just kinda sits there.
I wanted to put it inside a canteen so it worked like the cup holder speakers.
But... I gave up looking after a while and.. Now its just .. there.
Sounds like it's time to do something with it lol watching these videos is what gives me inspiration to get stuff done
Dang that bent lamination came out super clean. those edges look, on camera, like it is somehow solid wood.
This turned out great! Really neat style, cheers!
That's beautiful.
Someday when you're gone, that may sell for a lot of money.
Or not, what do I know...
But it might.
Just getting into the video. I dig the voiced over part and dood - you look slimmer. Nice work!
❤️❤️
That looks awesome! Sometimes you just gotta stand on stuff!
I love it, David. So much more character than generic electronics.
Ironic that this video doesn't have any music... Deliberate choice?
Hope you're well.

Very cool! The Gorilla white glue that needs water works perfect on foam. Lots of FX people use it, like Vanoak Props.
Thank you! Now I know!
I melted a lot of foam prior. Keep up the awesome projects! I learned a lot from you!!
Looks awesome, David! Do the knobs work OK?
David - I love the build, nice job. Is your list of "Shop Rules" available somewhere? I seem to remember a video where you talk about all of them but I can't seem to find it.
Not my rules. Look up Corita Kent rules. 🙂
Lovely job. But at one point after you trimmed up the “w” you still had heavy gaps between veneers. How did you fix that?
FYI - They make spray adhesives for foam
Brilliant result David
That's beautiful, but I didn't understand how the buttons worked. It looked like you glued them in place.
There is such a thing as “foam safe super glue”, all the scale terrain builders use it. 😉
Just curious if you emply your dust collector before cutting the foam? We compost all ours sawdust n shavings in one way or another so stuff like this, foam epoxy etc always is collected separaety and thrown in the trash.
Jetsons meets Mid Century
I think this is your style
That turned out awesome
I have very conservative taste, and I really like this. It's unique, but tastefully done. Very cool project.
Scroll saw? Wow. I saw a video of someone using a scroll saw 😁
One thing I’m confused about is the buttons. You used CA glue so how do the buttons move to work? What did I miss there? Anyways, this piece is sexy as hell!
4:17 Stand in the place where you sand.
Love this! Great form. Looks amazing.
Wow, I love this. Beautiful work.
I love the design except for the white speaker cloth. Very cool concept though!
Should have used 98 Degrees. Ya Know, since it’s for music. Nick needs the royalties.
Two questions… where’d the “Walnut” name plate come from?
What are the rest of the rules?
We love Dan. If you ever want to sell your Ridgeline, drop me a note. Thumbs up.
Thank you sir, you have once again inspired me
Love your work.That looks fantastic.
Your bandsaw book was a great inspiration for me, now every time I tell the missus I’ve got wood, she doesn’t run as far 😂
