With the change to Valor point cap, I recommend getting the Magma Plated Legplates (Mast/Hit DPS DK tier pants), since they replace our weakest slot. If you want to min/max your first raid you can also grab the tank Relic
Thanks for all your hard work Big Bro Subtle! Been following u since early TBC Where you were at like 900 subs or something like that! I'm saying this because I am just sad that our Paladin Top Protector Meta is gone and no longer are we holy brothers the best! Personally I cant stand BDK and will MT as a Pally for my guild, and I just wanted to ask you -- how bad is Prot Pally MT compared to BDK in the start ? I am a quite seasoned tank and that's the only thing I play, but I am worried since I feel severely nerfed on this pre-patch, whilst in the TBC prepatch I felt severely overpowered, a bad bad contrast. :(
Thanks dude, been great to have you along for the ride! Prot pally is quite a bit worse than BDK at the start but as the xpac goes on they'll get closer
Hi friend, Sorry my bad english, but I don't understanded correctly: why Prot Paladin don't cap Hit and Expertise in this build?. I know that paladin have 8% spell hit with talents, but not need 8% mele hit?. I see that 26 of expertise is recommended for prot paladin too in some guides. Thank you very much. Have a nice day!
The extra CTC is gonna be more valuable for your survival than the extra holy power from landing more HP generators since WoG can only be used every 20 seconds
If it's not too long of an answer, could you explain why you decide to skip out on Hit/Exp alltogether and just tunnel into Mastery and Avoidance ? Is this purely from a "Maintank" pov or would you generally gear like that even if you're just the OT ? I would've thought that a decent level of Hit would be nice to have to be more consistent in terms of getting your abilities off.
Super interesting on the pally tank side of the world being so heavily mitigation focused for survivability. Do you think Pallies should be reforging for mastery or keep mitigation stats like dodge and parry?
Definitely reforge mastery any opportunity you have but you should generally have mastery on every piece baseline, so you won't be able to reforge mastery on those
Pally you will need to glyph swap by bosses so. Carry a stack of that for raids. You will switch by aoe, single and magic reduction. Focus on crt cap and maintaining that with cds to deal with magic dmg. Mastery scales the most so it will be the most valuable. Exp with seal will get 10% I believe so it’s able to be close to get near cap but hit is not worth sacrificing other priorities.
I definitely overvalued avoidance in my pre-bis set-- but after running the raids on the beta, going hit cap + expertise soft cap will definitely be the way to go :D
Luckily soon we get the best of both worlds! Won't be hard to cap them and pick up some avoid with better gear. Thinking about possibly getting some haste too
With Valor now abundant, why isn't tier chest and gloves being used? The epic valor relic should also be considered pre-bis since you don't need to raid for it.
Hey man, how concerned are you with Protection paladins viability early on? Is it grief to run it for a semi-hardcore guild? I truly can't find a single video of recent cata beta raid testing with prot paladins and I hope its not insanely squishy or anything
They'll be fine as OTs but will hinder progress a bit as MT. If you're in a guild that will take a while longer to clear it probably won't be a big deal since you'll have time to get more gear
The biggest struggle i have atm is what professions to pick. Since mining actually is decent now for tanks due to giving 120 stam i have a hard time choosing. Currently engi. Looking towards enchanting, tailor or even alch. Should i drop mining and go any other combo? Struggling for weeks, would be able to push proffessions easily to 425 if i finally make a choise (450 wont be neccesary if i remember correctly due to cata starting with 425 skill pretty much no?) I am a blood dk myself. What would u say?
@@SubtleFW Thanks! Is the difference noticeable between the 2 choices? i think i want to aim for a more damage focused setup but if the gain is not too high it may be worth it to be a bit tankier
@@SubtleFW Originally the post about PVP Season starting on the 28th also stated Tol Barad was going to be available at this time as well. They have since put out a post stating Baradin Hold wont be available till June 4th, but the Battle for Tol Barad should start with the PVP season on the 28th. This to me reads that we wont have access to Tol Barad OR we will only have access to the Peninsula dailies which means we can only get ~1500-1600 rep a day for 8 days, then an additional 3000 from the remaining dailies starting on the 28th. Can hit revered but wont be able to hit exalted till after raid launches, also you wont be able to get 125 commendations before raid opens if we only have 6 dailies until the 28th. So sometime in the week following the opening of the raid we should expect to see people hitting exalted and getting the commendations. Its obviously still our BIS trinket, but Leaden Despair, Porcelain Crab, Earthquake Deck or Heart of Thunder will take its spot until we can get it. If we can get all 18 quests from the minute we hit 85 then people can potentially hit exalted if they ding 85 within a day of launch and then all is good in the world. Also just want to give you a big shout out as your BDK videos and the weak aura are a big help as I am transitioning to be my guilds MT as Blood for Cata
@@SubtleFW Ive tried posting it about 5 times now and my comment just gets removed, not sure why. Its the Tol Barad one on wowhead. It was edited from when I first saw it and dates were changed to "Sometime after season 9". But part of the quests are technically Baradin Hold which you only have access to if your faction wins. So unless they allow all dailies to be available for people from day 1, it will be impossible to hit exalted before raid opens. As Battle for Tol Barad wouldnt start till 28th which would let your faction have access to the 2nd quest hub for winning.
@@Wulfenst Oh youtube is probably censoring the link. The WoWhead blurb did originally misrepresent what the blue post said, but they seem to have fixed it now. Baradin Hold is the only thing releasing later. It's the raid and doesn't have anything to do with dailies, so getting rep won't be hindered at all

@@ZaneMontgomery You are actually able to get the pants with the new 1600 valor cap instead of the old 1000 cap that they had originally.
With the cap change, you'll have 3200 Valor before the first raid

No, you just want that legs for the raw stats@@RyanJTennis

It's just more important to survive and exp/hit dont really impact that with 20 sec WoG CD. Pally/war need every bit of survivability they can get imo
Let's get it boys

Not really worth it for a tank

Pre-bis trinket
What order are you going to get your reps to exalted in?
Hyjal > dragonmaw > ramkahen revered > earthen ring revered > therazane exalted
Are the gems in place what you recommend just focusing all mastery?
Yah thats what I'm going
700 troll, no zin. Such good design.

Mast for pure survival and stam for a mix of survival and damage. I personally am gemming mast
