That was great Andy! The Stevio is on my bucket list…great footage, and I for one loved the music, spot on for that ride…Happy New Year mate, and ride safe…Andy B (Wales UK)
Thanks very much indeed Andy B! The best thing about the Stelvio is that it’s amazing, but as you as you are in the area, ALL the other unbelievable alpine passes are spitting distance away. 👍🏻 Happy new year to you too mate!
I sincerely hope so Trevor. It’s truly a sight to behold. And once you’re in the area, all the other alpine passes are a mere stones throw away! Happy new year to you too mate.
Well, did Stelvio a couple of times this year, last trip was on 8 November, just a couple of days before closure. Was a great experiance as always. Less snow than you had there. Great Video, as always!
Crazy! I imagined that what i saw was the beginning of the end of the season! Apparently they even closed the pass 1 or 2 days later. But if it can also be open in November, that throws that theory out! Guess i was just very (un)lucky!! 😅
Another great one Andy 👍✌️ Guess it was around mid September : on my way to Friuli, enjoyed the Stelvio under the rain, and it was closed the day before I came back due to snowfall (it reopened while I was on my way, just like all the Swiss passes I was supposed to enjoy - enjoyed the fantastic Italian highways😅)
Seems that mid September is a very volatile time for the Alps! I’ll count myself lucky this time! Although this video isn’t the last time i saw snow on this tour… 😉
Myself and my 3 friends went there 5th/6th of October ‘24 as part of our Alpine tour. Unfortunately, the weather had become very bad over our 9 days away in Europe. The Grossglocker was completely closed and we decided after much chin wagging to go to The Italian lakes instead. I phoned our hotel at the top of the Stelvio to cancel but they said we could get up from the Bormio side and that’s what we did, arriving late at night, in the dark, minus 4c at time of arrival.... Would I do it again? Yep, in a heartbeat...❤ Great vid... thanks for sharing.👍
It really was. Especially as i only decided to take that route at the very last minute after some guy on the train told me that the Stelvio was closed! I was very focused mate! At anything under zero degrees i get wary of anything that looks shiny!! 😅
Bit of a snowy year for the old Stelvio, I had to give it a miss in June as it was closed due to avalanche risk 😂 That's the Alps for you though, rode it on several occasions at more or less the same time of year in warm sunshine...
It does seem like there are several tales of too much snow from 2024. sounds like i got a very lucky window of opportunity. Just glad i had the heated gloves with me!
Awesome video Andy, next time you are in Scotland, gives me a buzz, you are most welcome here. Joe. PS, as usual your choice of music is spot on, you put me onto Jennifer Holm and Gamma Skye’s. Jennifer told me she was ‘hired-in’ to sing on ‘Way Back When’, I told her she did an amazing job on the track.👍😎
I was up the 16th -20th Sept and whilst at St Gallen heard it was closed due to snow, perhaps you were there just before. I went over via the Abula pass which was still much like you experienced here but passable. Ride safe 👍🏻
It seems like at one point you were downshifting with the quickshifter and also bleeping the throttle… I said AMC must be a milisecond machine. But hey then I watched closer. Nice video
Thanks John! I can’t be 100% sure, but there were probably viz style gags still happening. I just didn’t hook up the mic! This was supposed to just be ‚B-Roll‘ footage but the ride ended up being far more picturesque than i had imagined!
I know right! The views were spectacular. I’ve been over there several times now and it never looked this incredible. I have a Pinlock installed in the visor. Magical thing!
Me neither TBH! But it was a needs must situation! I needed to get to the other side of those mountains and find the warm weather! Amazingly, 2 hours later i was in Como and it was over 20 degrees!
Totally. It was worth it for the lack of traffic and those views. This was my fourth or fifth time on the Stelvio and I’ve never seen it look so incredible.
@ Yup. It was mid to high 20s for us when at low elevations, and 8 at Bormio and other high elevations. I was wearing mesh gear. “Refreshing” to say the least. Excellent video Andy. Safe riding and Happy New Year from Canada.
That wouldn’t surprise me. There’s normally still snow up there in the middle of summer, so it must be pretty heavy in the winter. I don’t think any of the alpine passes stay open over winter.
Awesome Andy!! I drove it about 20 odd years ago and was due to ride it at the end of June on the way back from the Dolomites but it was closed due to snow. Crazy weather this year!! When was you there? Happy New Year
It’s a funny old world, i was on the way TO the Dolomites! This was in the middle of September, so getting towards the time where bad weather should be expected!!
Doing it on a motorbike when it is freezing cold and slippery is one thing but I wasn't expecting to see so many bicycles! You mention heated gloves - is anything else heated or are you just surviving the cold by being well wrapped up?
I thought the same! I knew it must be hot work, riding that incline. But when you stop it must be instantly freezing!! 🥶 I was just well wrapped up mate. I only took the gloves as a just in case. Really hadn’t counted on sub zero temperatures!!
Stunning right?! Never thought I’d ever get to see it like that. It’s the same helmet, just looks different! I always remove the peak whenever there’s going to be a lot of motorway. Problem was, I forgot to pack it! 🤦 It was also just too gloomy for the dark visor.
Ha! Perhaps in that direction, but not nearly good enough audio to compete! 😅 This footage was only meant for a couple of clips in the main series, but seemed to epic to pass by!
If i was riding to the shops I’d understand, but in my opinion epic scenery needs epic music. I’ve never seen anything quite like this, so i think that a little bit over the top is justified! Thanks though 👍🏻
Just the mittens on this one. I really wasn’t expecting such ‚extreme‘ temperatures! Thankfully i had the decathlon puffa jacket with me, just in case!
No kidding! It reminds me of something stupid I did a couple years ago on Trail Ridge Road in CO at 12,000'. The road was just wet until I reached a place where the road was shaded, resulting in ice still on the road. Instead of turning around, I stupidly pushed through it, and my guardian angel (and Pirelli Scorpion Trail II's) didn't let me down. In the video the sound of the ice crunching under the tires is audible. It is on TH-cam as "2022-06-07 Trail Ridge Road Rock Cut".
It takes a special level of humility to do something a bit stupid, survive it, but then think that despite surviving it, perhaps we ought to have actually not done it at all! Lesser men would just start to think they were invincible!!
Do not abuse of our Italian hand gestures!!! 🤌 Other than that..well..I wouldn't find it very comfortable ,to be riding in those conditions but that Aprilia managed to do very well! What was the temperature on the peak?
I do apologise Frankie. I was overcome with excitement! Thankfully i had good clothes and heated gloves! The lowpoint was -2° C. Felt more like -10°C with the wind on the downslope!
@@AndyManCam clothing is everything in those conditions!! Very happy you're enjoying your Tuareg,it caught my interest last year but then I went for the "bigger sister" Moto Guzzi Stelvio!
I like what you say. I love your commentaries. Your voice is great. But I loved this. Very powerful. No distraction from the trajectory. Wow!
Thank you. Thank you kindly and thank you very much indeed. 🙏🏻😘
Happy new year Andy. Stunning video to start the year off with, thank you ❤
Cheers and a happy new year to you too mate.

Thanks very much indeed Andy B! The best thing about the Stelvio is that it’s amazing, but as you as you are in the area, ALL the other unbelievable alpine passes are spitting distance away. 👍🏻 Happy new year to you too mate!
Brilliant,,, I wonder if I have time left to do that...🤔 Thanks for posting and Happy New Year, hope it's a good one for you and yours.
I sincerely hope so Trevor. It’s truly a sight to behold. And once you’re in the area, all the other alpine passes are a mere stones throw away! Happy new year to you too mate.
Happy new year, and what a beautiful ride!
A very happy new year to you too Jeroen!
Happy New Year, matey. Cracking edit that 🤌
Thanks very much old bean and a very happy new year to you and Mrs Barr!
Happy new year Andy.
That was epic! Road, views, editing, riding, all top banannanannaa.
Cheers very much Danny! Happy new year mate!
such a beautiful route.
It really is. It’s not my favorite riding road, but the views and the landscape are tremendous.

Happy new year Pete!
Brilliant Andy - glad there was a dry line for you most of the time! Stay safe and Happy NY.
Thanks mate! I was very glad too, although expecting the passable line to disappear at any second!

Epic ride and scenery! Nice soundtrack too 👌 Cheers Steve
Thanks Steve! 🙏🏻
Fair play to you & happy new year
Cheers mate and the very same to you!
happy new year, Andy, looking forward to a moto-Vlog year
Happy new year Svend! Me too. BIG changes coming this year! 😉

Awesome stuff! That’s bold, going so late in the season, but so glad you still got to the top!! He who dares, wins!!
Fantastic Andy, some proper goose bump footage there for me. Brought back some memories, all good. Thanks.
Many thanks Nick. Happy to be reminding 👍🏻
Nice, clear run there. Never happens in the 'riding season' these days. Hats off to you for doing that.
It was a strange experience to see it so empty. Shame we have to brave icy winds to get that nowadays!
What a memorial ride there. You look pretty focused while you were waiting for a wheel to do the rumba att some point.
It really was. Especially as i only decided to take that route at the very last minute after some guy on the train told me that the Stelvio was closed! I was very focused mate! At anything under zero degrees i get wary of anything that looks shiny!! 😅
@AndyManCam thanks for taking us along for the ride Mr A
Absolutely my pleasure Mark!
Happy new year! Amazing spectacular that right there brother, the meat and two veg left the building just watching that!🥶🥶
Happy new year mate! It was nippy af! Worth it for those views though! 😎
Andy that was in fact wonderful . Excellent footage awesome music choice subline editing .
Happy peaceful and healthy New year .
Thank you very much mate. Terribly kind of you to say so. A very happy new year to you too.

Cheers Phillip and a handy new year to you mate.
Great video 👍
Thanks very much TTD!
Happy new year Andy 🤓😎🏍💨💨💨💨💨💨👍🏻🇨🇦🍻
Happy new year John!
It seems you squeezed that in just in time!
I really did! Apparently the pass was closed 2 days later!

That’s very much Joe! Very happy to hear a fellow musician getting some follow up props from the vids! Cheers!
Spectacular, Andy, although he sight of all that white stuff had my teeth playing a tune.
It was a bit of a magical experience tbh. The slippery looking floor, not so much! 🤣
I was up the 16th -20th Sept and whilst at St Gallen heard it was closed due to snow, perhaps you were there just before. I went over via the Abula pass which was still much like you experienced here but passable. Ride safe 👍🏻
I was there on the 14th, so must have been REALLY lucky!!
Nice one Andy. Top notch production as always. You have some cojones on you aye :D
Cheers very much Mike. Is it cojones or just misplaced confidence due to extra-knobbly tyres?! 😅
It seems like at one point you were downshifting with the quickshifter and also bleeping the throttle… I said AMC must be a milisecond machine. But hey then I watched closer.
Nice video
I tend to mix it up, for some reason. The quickshifter is really good, but sometimes i just enjoy doing it manually and getting more of a blip!
What a lovely bit of footage plus soundtrack framed it perfectly. Still a little odd without the supporting Finbarr Saunders gags..
Thanks John! I can’t be 100% sure, but there were probably viz style gags still happening. I just didn’t hook up the mic! This was supposed to just be ‚B-Roll‘ footage but the ride ended up being far more picturesque than i had imagined!
Crazy dude what a view, how,d you stop your helmet from fogging up keep up the great vids Cheers Glenn.

Fantastic! Nice one 😁
Thanks very much Steve!
Bloody hell, stay safe 💪
I’ll certainly do my best! You too!
Skillz bro. My sphincter was twitching near the top there.......I rarely go out unless it about 30c these days.
Me neither TBH! But it was a needs must situation! I needed to get to the other side of those mountains and find the warm weather! Amazingly, 2 hours later i was in Como and it was over 20 degrees!
I felt cold just watching it. Must of been worth it to have the road to yourself.
Totally. It was worth it for the lack of traffic and those views. This was my fourth or fifth time on the Stelvio and I’ve never seen it look so incredible.
Happy🎄 New🎇 Year 🌈2025🌈🌬🌧☃️⛄🌨🏕

Andy. What make of jacket is that? I really like the look of it. 👍🏍
Hey Tony. It’s a Rukka. Pricey but a little bit fabulous! bit.ly/RukkaEcuJckt
@AndyManCam cheers mukka. 👍
No worries mate 👍🏻
@@AndyManCam my credit card is about to take a hammering. 😁
It’s what the baby Jesus would want 🙏🏻 Bike gear doesn’t count anyway 😉
Did it in June from the opposite direction. It was only 8 degrees C at the top then!
Isn’t it crazy how much colder it gets up there!? I was enjoying a coffee in 20 degrees, just 90 minutes or so later!
@ Yup. It was mid to high 20s for us when at low elevations, and 8 at Bormio and other high elevations. I was wearing mesh gear. “Refreshing” to say the least. Excellent video Andy. Safe riding and Happy New Year from Canada.
Oooh dear. VERY sharp nipples. Been there, not a fan!! 🤣
Road started to look a little sketchy near the top
It certainly was! Below freezing, with wind and no sun, it‘s always tough to tell if it’s just water or ice! I decided to just assume it was all ice!!
Impressive👌 I heard stelvio pass is closed during winter months??
That wouldn’t surprise me. There’s normally still snow up there in the middle of summer, so it must be pretty heavy in the winter. I don’t think any of the alpine passes stay open over winter.
Awesome Andy!! I drove it about 20 odd years ago and was due to ride it at the end of June on the way back from the Dolomites but it was closed due to snow. Crazy weather this year!!
When was you there?
Happy New Year
It’s a funny old world, i was on the way TO the Dolomites! This was in the middle of September, so getting towards the time where bad weather should be expected!!
Crazy year. Let's hope 2025 blesses us with better weather!
Amen to that brother!!
Doing it on a motorbike when it is freezing cold and slippery is one thing but I wasn't expecting to see so many bicycles!

I thought the same! I knew it must be hot work, riding that incline. But when you stop it must be instantly freezing!! 🥶
I was just well wrapped up mate. I only took the gloves as a just in case. Really hadn’t counted on sub zero temperatures!!
Is that typical weather for September there?....
I honestly couldn’t say. I’ve only ever been in summer. I was definitely getting that end of season vibe from the area though.
Gob smacking 😮 what happened to the helmet? Different one or stripped the peak n dark visor? Why?
Stunning right?! Never thought I’d ever get to see it like that. It’s the same helmet, just looks different! I always remove the peak whenever there’s going to be a lot of motorway. Problem was, I forgot to pack it! 🤦 It was also just too gloomy for the dark visor.
What tyres were you using?
Heidenau K60 Rangers. Chosen more for the main destination of his trip, the Italian and French TET trails.
Given your Norway experiences and this, people may pay you to stay away to keep the snow away 😂😂😂😂
Could be lucrative, if somewhat frustrating! 😅
Doing a Schaaf eh 😉
Ha! Perhaps in that direction, but not nearly good enough audio to compete! 😅 This footage was only meant for a couple of clips in the main series, but seemed to epic to pass by!
Andy, your video's are a treat for the eye, but the music is a bit over the top. You're riding a motorcycle, not storming a beach on d-day.
If i was riding to the shops I’d understand, but in my opinion epic scenery needs epic music. I’ve never seen anything quite like this, so i think that a little bit over the top is justified! Thanks though 👍🏻
@@AndyManCam One more for liking the music in the edits!
Thank‘ee kindly.
No music pls we are bikers only interested in the engine sounds
There’s always a method to the madness. The music takes over when the wind noise was all you could really hear!
Holy Schnickeys! That is mental! I can feel my anxiety rising through the roof. Stay safe
It was a bit nuts and i honestly thought I’d have to turn back at any moment! 🥶
@@AndyManCam It looks like the Rukka did its job perfectly. Did you have any "warmers" under the jacket or just in your mittens?
