I agree with you Lorraine ,Brookside is a stand alone soap, although there is another old soap that comes close that is Take the High Road which like Brookside had strong,well-constructed storylines with a lovely undercurrent of humour.
@@MichaelHoare-vr7mo I vaguely remember, my mam used to watch it at lunchtimes, I do remember a Mrs Mac and Isabel? So I went looking and found this. www.youtube.com/@takethehighroad5118/playlists I'll leave it here in case you weren't aware of it. Not sure if all the episodes are there though. Enjoy!
I thought the same thing as he should be a key part of this with Rachel. It's even more absurd he is clearly not at the bowling alley. I can only guess the actor was unavailable at the time or something.
@@col227t8 Same here and I thought the same about he must've been on a break. Not to dig out the lad, but his acting level probably wouldn't have been enough to have him convincingly be a shoulder for Rachel to cry on. It might've taken the seriousness out of the situation, if you know what I mean. Then again, the writers likely got more mileage out of Rachel *not* letting it all out to a character that "understands", ie. they got more drama out of her bottling everything up.
I can understand it *after* her finding out about the murder, but yeah, *before* was baffling, especially the over the top antagonism towards Beth and the "daddy's favourite" thing. I was only 10 at the time this was being broadcast, so it's like watching anew (though I remember bits and pieces from the videos they were releasing around this time, which my mum bought), but I presume that with the big "my dad didn't do anything to me", things are building up to Rachel finally getting over her denial at the trial and saying that yes, my dad did rape me. That said, Mandy and Beth currently have no actual evidence that anything happened (which the inspector bloke challenged Mandy with and seems to have been quietly dropped).
Unless I'm missing something, how on earth does Eddie think the police will pay for his garden? It's as if the underground leak has been quietly forgotten...like, he decided to tear up his garden of his own volition, long before the body, unrelated to the leak, was discovered next door.
United Front (15th February 1995) Pack of Lies (17th February 1995) Time Off (21st February 1995) Getting Closer (22nd February 1995) Expensive Night Out (24th February 1995)
I go back and forth with her character. Sometimes I feel for her as Carl gave her a right run around and then he gets jealous and is nasty to her every time she is going out, even using Becca to get at her as in saying he won't babysit. Rosie is also harsh on her. Then on the other hand, wtf is she doing lodging with her estranged husband and his family whilst seeing his best friend? Strange character.
Don't know why tbh. I go back and forward, but whatever way you look at it, she's been getting a hard time. So it's sometimes hard to work out how hard to push people back when you need to assert your own boundaries x
Brookside in my opinion will always be the stand alone soap, great storylines and it's humor was off the charts.

Where the hell is Lee? Rachel is only staying there because she’s going out with him yet he hasn’t been seen once since she moved in.

The storylines are absolute shit in retrospect.
Lee's in prison for his criminal haircut.

Yes! Been waiting for this
been looking for these episodes for ages ! thanks so much for these !
I guess I'll never understand Rachel's mind set.

Brian Murphy has a good supporting role in these episodes also acts a catalyst for the virus storyline.
Love it when Jimmy Corkhill got stitched up

Ha ha the flour went over Ron 😂
Like the bit when Ron is holding Kiev and Mike is just about to hit Kiev on the head it was very funny.
R.I.P Ham Pie and Fried Rice.
Wonder will the reporters blame it on Mandy and Beth when the word gets out?
The garden of Number 10 seems full of surprises - corpses and shotgun barrels
Musical houses Rachel is in the Banks Meanwhile Sarah is living at the Dixon’s oh and little Katie is living with Jackie Dixon 🤦
Yet again Brookie mentioned another soap when Bev says"Corrie is on in a minute."
Jimmy just unfriended four people in just over a minute.
Ron at 1:19:45 hahaha

Sarah Banks is one of the worst characters ever. So unlikeable. Hope she falls hard soon

@@col227t8 after she got her hair cut, she became a totally different character. Suddenly she was really responsible and nice to others
@@cakes3958 amazing what a hair cut can do for some people isn't it 😀

I’m surprised after all these years that only pet is Cracker…? No cats or other dogs or goldfish either..?!!
Ehhh sub judice laws .Absolute clown scriptwriters .
