Dope video. I’m fairly new to the game and once I figured out how everything worked I rolled a warden ice mage. It’s my first real build in this game and I use ice furnace and frostbite with the heavy armor pieces on the body. My playstyle is drop all the ice effects and fetcher swarm and then a lot of heavy attacking fit the shield. I have sword and shield on the back bar for extra defense of I need it. Right now I am just soloing world bosses so my build motivations are a little different. I really want nunatek but that zone confuses the hell out of me.
Can't wait to try this out on the PTS. My current frost warden with similar gear is hitting barely 90k, and I think those new two skills are just what it needs. Timing the two 6 second duration skills together seems like an easy rotation. The two second channel has me a little concerned though. For sacrificing two global cooldowns and missing out on 1 light attack to only deal 22k damage is a huge letdown. Yeah you can apply the minor magickasteal, but that is likely going to be redundant in most groups. If your standard spammable is frost clench with 9k damage + 3k chilled proc being guaranteed, you are basically better off casting that twice (and getting your second 2k light attack in). If you are needing to do AoE, absolutely go for this cast, but for single target boss damage I would drop that channeled ability entirely. Its animation is sick though. Just wish it had better utility. If you made it with Major Savagry and dropped Betty for something else, it would be a very nice skill to use. Unfortunately, by buffing Betty Zos kinda screwed over that idea. Now Betty will NEED to be slotted similar to Templars running Solar Barrage.
There is certainly some refinement and changes that can provide better dps. I do wish they hadn't made every version of the destruction staff scribing skill have a 2 second channel, as you've said it really disrupts the dps/rotation
Huh. I wonder if I could make that with an Oakensoul + tripots on my khajiit. Chalks could be replaced with Contigency (it can have vulnerability instead of minor force). Chilling Explosion can have magicka lifesteal if recovery really is an issue, otherwise off-balance.
Having a new skill which is chilling explosions, it nice, it make better than some of the area ice ability so this is nice for my one bar. What good is has a big meter and radius which i wish all skills have that too and I take anything over using wall of elements because it do suck especially when it don't apply breach instant
this ability unfortunately has a horrible damage to cast time ratio as of week 1 on the pts. it takes an enormous 2 seconds to cast alongside having a travel time. its very janky to use and you can do a lot more damage in the same window of time using 3 frost reaches in single target or 3 frost pulsars in aoe.
Sadly there is not many spammable, large AoE ice skills. The only ones (other than chilling explosion) available are unstable wall of elements and pulsar. As @Frostingale mentioned however, the chilling explosion does have horrible dps and if it is not changed in later pts weeks, it will probably be just used as a buff/debuff skill and only activated once every ~20 seconds
I really enjoy ice dps. I like to be able to 'feel' the frosty damage, while not having my rp-ness negatively impact my group. Tvm for the build :)

@Frostingale I don't like 2 seconds, 1 is fine but is there more ice skills that you can make than explosions one?
