  • Project progress update 2 - Learning SurrealDB and embedding it into a single binary executable compiled from Rust code - using the SurrealDB SDK and building a command line database for "products" which in this case is a collection of magazines to one day list on Ebay. This is built with SurrealDB version 1.3.1 as of Mid March 2024.
Since the previous video I have refactored main.rs and put the functions in a separate file.
I've added "clap" to take command line arguments as well. In this video I also fix a bug where the INDEX was not unique enough and discuss plans to use RELATE as a graph edge between magazine and topics tables with a look at my development and testing so far using surrealist app.
This video also shows how to combine parameters with SELECT in SurrealDB.

Ps. I know, I should have used "cargo clean" to remove the previous target release when testing!
SurrealDB is still relatively new, and evolving rapidly so whilst I'm not at the level of Jeremy Chone, some of the content here might be easier to understand for a beginner/intermediate level.
