    Hi I was loving your videos about the lofthouse/robin hood/rothwell and Middleton Woods as I live a few miles from both area's but am having trouble finding all the other videos in the series. Was wondering if you could put both series in a play list so they're easier to watch. Thanks

    Two down now, and looking forwards to watching the rest . . . my end-of-day-treat, enjoying some well-produced local history presented by an engaging presenter. Good stuff!

    Enjoying your videos from afar in Washington state, USA. I've always been fascinated by abandoned roads, bridges, towns, etc. Visiting Britain has been a long time dream as well, but I'll probably never be able to afford it. Thank goodness for vlogs like yours so I can visit virtually. Cheers!

    I’m really fascinated with your railway journey i know the area well ,I used to go to Robin Hood school , my mum & dad owned a lock up shop on Lead-well Lane , just a few yards away from Matty Lane , there was also a fish & chip shop on Matty Lane ,i just remember the station when it was still intact , also remember the tracks being taken up , further away from the station was a foot bridge made of wood before a steel one was put in its place , the old one we called was the shaking bridge as it was made of wood , just before the bridge was another building I think it was the water tower , a brick building with a water tank on top , and yes I think the post is the original one as I remember it was a single gate to the footpath , any other traffic to the station was from Matty lane , can’t remember if there was a cinder road up to the station , I also remember car transporter trains using the line , I think down to sturton
    Sorry I have no photos, I wish I had , only memories .
    Thanks for the journey 👍

    Really interesting following your walks. The clothes in the photos have a feel of the 60's but to me the surprise is passenger trains on here at that time: in 6 years crossing Wakefield Rd bridge on the nr 10 bus, all I ever managed were two light locos! Great to see your passion for your subject.

      Thanks. Some of the pictures were from the 50's & 60's, not used much though.

    There aren’t many ungrassed colliery spoil heaps left , most have been semi levelled given a thin veneer of grass and called “country parks “ but any small grass fire soon reveals their spoil heap origin and just how thin their new cloak of respectability is

    Darren have you been down the old lines/greenway recently?
    It's all been tarmaced. Loses some of its charm but at least you don't get filthy in winter

    • @garrybrown
      @garrybrown 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AdventureMe the signal box was about 30 yards past the sleeper stump going towards the bridge on the same side as the sleeper stump the sidings for the colliery (jane pit) also had stone houses nearer the road at an angle to the track i moved to cliffe terrace in robin hood in 1962 overlooking the pits, its a wonder any sleepers are left on the embankment we used to dig them up to burn on bonfire night ican also remember the bridge on leadwell lane and the ruins of the station

      @@garrybrown Oh right. I thought you meant further up. Yeah nothing left of that or I would have mentioned it. I would have loved to have seen the station remains and the bridge on Leadwell Lane. No photos anywhere of that period or the bridge.

    • @garrybrown
      @garrybrown 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AdventureMe yes the bridge was really thick gauge steel with grey blue paint and lots of rivets as were all the bridges on the line you could walk to lofthouse signalbox on one spur and down to waddingtons near wakefied on the other all the bridges were up until about 1968 or so
