- The sermon was by far one of my favorites that I have ever heard from Tim Mackie. Over the past few months I discovered that it had been lost. I couldn’t find it anywhere online or even searching through some of the discussion groups. Lo and behold as I prepare for the release of the upcoming “supernatural series“, I discovered this lost sermon.
I wanted to make sure that we have it preserved for everyone as it is a special message to help us understand the ultimate melody of the Bible.
 Enjoy, and subscribe for more!

Hello, brother, thank you for posting this. Recently I was looking at James' use of former and latter rains in the context of Jesus' former and latter coming/appearing, similar to Hosea 6.3 where the farmer waits for the second rain season even after the first has come. In that same section of James, we are encouraged to be patient like Job, whose latter days were blessed more than the former days in Job 42.12. I think James is getting at our enduring in integrity, in loyalty to the Messiah/God, between the first and second comings, knowing that the second coming will be even so much greater than the first, and that it all will have been worth it if we can continue to persevere in righteousness and faith.
I was an athiest for 15 years, God let it happen.
Until I hit THE breaking point.
4 friends dead.
Stopped eating.
Hated myself.
Hated the concept of "a God".
Literally shattered my teeth.
And one day.
I started the only thing that I enjoy doing.
Reading History.
That lead to the historicity in the Bible.
Ive always loved learning about greek culture and the foundations of the west.
Which lead an athiest to study the Bible.
One day.
The Holy Spirit was with me.
I know this because reading the exaxt same verses and books was entirely different.
Every chapter snapped to another chapter.
Every word was a symbol into incomprehensibly complex philosophical questions that were ANSWERED.
My broken body, my wretched flesh, my knowledge of men meant NOTHING.
I, a broken man, broke.
I broke into tears.
I felt like I wasted 15 years of my life studying bricks drying on a wall.
God, The Glorious Jesus Christ knew my stubborn brain.
And knew, I had to be broken.
And I thank God Everyday for pulling me out when he did.
The cursed option was close.
If youve made it this far, congrats.
And God Bless You.
Not them.
You.
The one reading this.
Wow! awesome testimony!! I loved the part where reading history brought you to the Bible. I have recently been watching Tom Holland interviews on his book Dominion. He's a historian who has very similar and interesting things to say about the foundations of the west. Also, in his book The Great Good Thing, Andrew Klavan also attributes western literature as the beginnings of his awakening to Jesus.
Thank you for your testimony. It's inspiring. I love how God reaches us different ways. He's a loving Father for sure.
"The Glorious Jesus Christ knew my stubborn brain and knew I needed to be broken."
I haven't read something more true about myself. Thanks for sharing. ❤ God bless you as well.
I’m so grateful for you brother
God bless you too. We will see each other in heaven :)
My God. This is powerful. To become another cycle of the melody…
There have been a lot of Mackie Sermon's that I have listened to that I can't seem to find anymore, this being one of them! Thanks for the repost! My favorite Mackie sermon is "Paradise Now". It alone has set my life on a different trajectory
Paradise Now is life changing !
I didn't think I could appreciate and love and respect you more but now you likening the Bible to jazz, especially the blue note label you've set in concrete my opinion of you,as one of the best Bible teachers ever. Thank you Tim. I'm a drummer/ vocalist for the majority of my adult life and jazz music has been my influence. By saying this you probably surmised that I'm not rich, materially speaking, if it were so you'd probably know my name this side of heaven. But I am rich heavenly speaking and though I may never meet you while here on this version of earth I'm so looking forward to seeing you in paradise. Love you my brother. I'm certainly old enough to be your father, definitely know that I've learned from you far more than anyone else on my journey through scripture. Your new passion for prayer has inspired me to talk to God much more often. God bless you, your family and your ministry, especially Jon from the Bible project. ‼️🎁✝️🙏🤟🔥💯🎯🎵🎶🎵🎶
Beautifully said!!!

Tim Mackie has helped my revival so much. I thank God for his place here with us everyday for not making me feel like a freak and helping my passion for God really ignite this past year. I hope that Tim Mackie knows that by you sharing his sermons on your channel that you've helped us and and us being helped by God and to the Kingdom thank you for sharing !
This was at Bridgetown. I wonder why they took it down! 😥 That's really sad because there was also a Q&R time afterwards that was really good, too (it was a separate video that was linked in the description). Thank you for posting this!
Watch all the way to the end. That is included as well. That question and answer was one of my favorite parts and so glad that I had it saved as well. Who knows why they took it down but thankful we still have it
Love Tim's teaching style. Another gem.
RIGHT! Agreed🙂
I found this conversation insightful and very thought provoking. Thank you for sharing it
Finally I found this sermon again 🎉 thanks brother!
I love learning, getting through another layer. Tim gets me thinking ... Thank You Father
Amen 🙏🏻
Thank you for sharing this video. I watched it previously and I've been searching for it ever since. I really love the extended Q&A session you added. Thank you
Yup been following Tim for about two years. Read through the Bible using the project plan. Now I take his classroom stuff and pick up books he recommends. I also added N T Wright to the lectures I listen to as well. Awesome stuff . ❤
I agree And love NT as well✅
Thanks 🙏🏻
Is there a favorite book or one that Tim Mackie recommends I'm hoping one day he does a book recommendation.
@@mr.thomas8091 I think he has a list . Look up Tim Mackey book recommendation or favorite authors plus when he does lessons he lists authors he used. He very good about giving authors credit . I think the latest I saw added to his list was N T Wright. But he has several he likes.
@@mr.thomas8091 most certainly. He recommends a wide variety of books and has them all listed on the BibleProject website. bibleproject.com
A book that he recommends, and as do I .
The Unseen Realm
By Dr. Michael Heiser
Another great one
Reading the Bible for a change
Ray Lubeck (Tim’s former professor, that we actually also interviewed)
This lecture was amazing! I'll be listening to this and re-listening. Tim Mackie is the man.
Agreed 🙌🏻🔔✅
Interesting listening to this if you know Tyler’s story and suffering through cancer. Both of these men are so precious in how they have allowed God to work in and through them. Read Tyler Staton’s book, “Praying like Monks”.
@@katherinecornette5315 it’s one of my favorite books ever. I’ve tried to reach out to him for an interview but could not get through. Love his work and preaching
WOW! A wonderful approach to understanding the suffering and difficulties of normal life.
It's the EXACT opposite of what we hear from the false teachings of the prosperity gospel.
beautiful like the "blackberry " message
Agreed 🔔🔥🔔 This One is spectacular
The “huckleberries” Are everywhere When Tim is preaching
✌️
This blessed me. Thank you for Sharing.
Glad you found it!😎👍👍🙏🙏
I heard this several years ago, lived it, told other people about it, and then couldnt find it. I have been looking for this sermon for a long time online. Thank you so much for sharing this !
All Praise Be to God!
Tim Mackie is soooo amazing
Too cool! We get to hear Tim making jazz music! Lol...😂😂😂
Who knew he could not only read ancient Hebrew but also carry a tune so well, lol😆✌️🔔
@@ringthembells143 Absolutely!! 😊
Wow - thank you
Soooooo good
Appreciate this!
Its a classic
Thank you 🙏
PBTGFWABF & you are Welcome ✌️✅❤️🔔
Your topic is the book of Job, you have an hour.
Tim: I guess I'll just cover the entire Bible then
hmmm the last question was very interesting. He asks "how did satan get into the throne room", but then Tim explains how the devil entered creation. Tim explains that chaos was already in the world, God was in the process of making it perfect, but humans ruined that process. Now Jesus is trying to get us back on track to complete this perfect creation. Im gonna spend a few days chewing on this.
Woah...
You mention Abraham, Noah & Job. What about Moses? I’ve heard him mentioned more than Job. I know he made mistakes too, but he was with Jesus on the mount at the transfiguration. Just wondering. I do LOVE your teaching!! You & Dr. Heiser are my heroes in the faith.
Do you know how it happened to get "lost"? I too had been looking for it. I wondered if they (Bridgetown? Mackie?) had chosen to take it down.
It remains a mystery.
But I do know that the Bible project as a whole is shying away from Tim doing extracurricular things like this for the foreseeable future. My guess is it helps avoid haters and gives their content the ability to reach more people.🤷🏻♂️
It’s been a while since we’ve seen Tim preach and I wonder when we will see it again.
I love everything from the Bible project but I’m hopeful to see him behind the pulpit again as he is one of the best I’ve ever seen✅🔔❤️
Timothy Keller also has some insightful comments on Job in his book “ Generous Justice.”
Thanks I will check that out!
I think its extraordinarily difficult for most christians that have not experienced unjust suffering to put this one in a box....some concepts are better left in a veil, and call for comfort not understanding...
One difference between Jesus and Job (other than Jesus being God's begotten Son) is that Jesus knew what He was walking into. He chose to leave His place in Heaven. He chose every day to live as a human, to be hungry and thirsty and homeless. To stub His toe and get dirty, to smell the stinky smell of dying humans....for us.
What happened to Job came from left field. One disastrous day, he goes from blessing to nothing. His wife even says to give up. He says "no," realizing that God gave the blessings.
First off thanks for watching and taking the time to leave such a detail comment. I love dialogue like this.🤙🏽
Over the past few years, through many great scholars, God has revealed to me that the Bible is a complete narrative that finds its fulfillment in Jesus.
Job is a part of that story. Job is a sign post that’s pointing to Jesus. So you are 100% correct. A sign post pointing to Hawaii will never be as beautiful or detailed as Hawaii, but it is still pointing you there. The old testament is a library filled with narrative that leads us to the point of realizing WE (everybody) need a savior, a Messiah, an anointed one of God to stand in the gap for us.
The language used for Job is of extreme righteousness as if no one on the earth is found to be like him. Now obviously he’s not Jesus, but this is a Story Pointing towards Jesus..
... and in those details whether present or missing we find more clues to help us more fully understand the beautiful picture of our Savior Jesus of Nazareth. Blessings and nothing but love. Stay tuned. The beginning is near!✌️🔔✅❤️
@@ringthembells143 thank you. Everywhere I look in the Book, I see Him, don't you? It is HIS story. And His story is a love story about us! I stand all amazed!
Tim looks scary with that middle picture
It’s his face mixed with Indiana Jones - Harrison Ford 🤷🏻♂️ it was rolling with the whole “discovery theme”✌️🥳❤️
The reason why pain and suffering went into all mankind is because Jehovah Elohim made a MAN of dust for jehovah Elohim to be a living flesh and blood Elohim to entrap THE Satan into abody giving a spirit TIME on earth which gave him the limitation of time so that at the end of time would also be the end of THE satan. And at the jubelee of Adam from having to imprison the satan in His flesh and blood (actually the MAN) Adam, the end of days for the serpent satan et al also comes. For the snake is condemned to eat dust all the DAYS ??? of his life. Since when does an eternal spirt have an end of his days. Mark 3:22-26, Genesis 3:14. Yes mesery and death came to all mankind. But by trapping satan in the man-Jehovah Elohim Genesis 2:7 this ended the eternalness of a fallen angel making him of time. Sorry about the length.
Love Mackie, but Torah, Psalms, and prophets means torah and psalms and prophets. Doesnt mean OT
Tanakh, an acronym derived from the names of the three divisions of the Hebrew Bible: Torah (Instruction, or Law, also called the Pentateuch), Neviʾim (Prophets), and Ketuvim (Writings).....the whole of the OT.
Tim said this is One Of the shorthand ways to refer to the OT
@@kathleenarapoglou7724 Ok. Thanks!
