  • www.vancesova.com Watch How to Make Czech Buchty - České kynuté buchty or Buchteln which is a raised dough pastry made in the Czech Republic and in the neighbouring countries like Austria, Germany, Slovakia and possibly others. It is impossible to determine which country or region started to make them first and it really doesn't matter. What matters is that buchty or Buchteln are made in a number of countries now and they are liked by people there. Buchty are made with different fillings but the favorite fillings are the following three: povidla which is a plum jam, poppyseed and tvaroh. You may also try apricot jam, strawberry jam and other jams.
The video shows how buchty or bechteln are made by hand. You can of course use a food processor.
    Enjoy.

What I love most about this video is that you sat down with the bowl and vareška and mixed, that’s just how my nana taught me to mix the first time I made Babka. My nana also taught me to listen to the dough it makes a certain sound when mixing almost like a slapping sound you know it’s ready. Thank you very much for the recipe and for bringing back such wonderful memories to me. 😊 peace and good health 🙏🏼

Hi Federico, thank you so much for commenting. I guess the only way you could taste this pastry right now is to try to make it yourself. I understand that is not likely to happen. So try to imagine what it tastes like. Fortunately you can get many kinds of great pastry and deserts in your beautiful country, Italy. Have a great week and a fantastic weekend my friend.

You can also pour custard (pudink?) Over the buchty and make a sweet meal out of them. That's how I had it when I lived in Ostrava & Zlín.

Yes, absolutely. Maybe that kind of buchty is sometimes called buchticky and they tend to be smaller but the dough is the same and the custard that is poured over them makes everything very tasty, really delicious.🙂
