Who is Robert the Doll?
* Robert the Doll is a life-sized, straw-filled doll that was once owned by a boy named Robert Eugene Otto in Key West, Florida.
* The doll was given to Robert by a Bahamian servant who was skilled in black magic.
* Robert became very attached to the doll and would often talk to it as if it were alive.
* Strange things began to happen around the house after Robert received the doll. Furniture would be overturned, objects would move on their own, and eerie giggles could be heard in the middle of the night.
The Curse of Robert the Doll
* It is said that the Bahamian servant who gave Robert the doll cursed it before she left the family’s employ.
* The curse was said to be responsible for the strange occurrences that happened around the house.
* Robert’s parents would often hear him talking to the doll, but they were shocked when they heard the doll talking back to him in a different voice.
* The doll was eventually locked away in the attic, but it was said that it could still be heard giggling and moving around.
Robert the Doll Today
* Robert the Doll is now on display at the East Martello Museum in Key West, Florida.
* Visitors to the museum must ask Robert’s permission before taking his picture, or they risk being cursed.
* The museum has received countless letters of apology from people who have taken Robert’s picture without permission and have suffered bad luck as a result.
