FYI if the power goes out, there is an emergency lever you can pull to detach the garage door from the motor and operate it manually. Doesn't break anything and can be reattached easily.

That was more like a hurricane as we experience them near the Gulf in Texas. Hurricane Ike went on like that for hours! I wanna say anywhere between 7 to 12 hours. It just seemed like it would never stop. We were without power for 17 days... I'm glad you and your family made it through ok. Thank you for sharing this. I was glued to my seat the whole time! I also hope they were trying to get somewhere safe while the gettin is good. Otherwise those two guys are a bit off center you think. I am from Cedar Rapids, grew up there went to Washington High. A month ago today my hometown and the land of Iowa went thru a catastrophic weather storm. Derecho! I pray for each of you of my families there, my two sisters, brother and many sidekicks. God bless you and your own families that you are safe and can look back on this one month anniversary when that storm came thru and changed everuthong as any of us had known it. My heart broke too. Even though I no longer live there, as I watched another video of the power it was so difficult to believe that right at that time Cedar Rapids was being inundated with something that hardly anyone alive could only imagine. I am so proud of my people in my hometown, I know this has not been easy God knows. I just want all of you in Iowa and my hometown to know my heart and prayers are still with you and always will be. Stay safe and may our Lord Almighty God bless our land of our Fathers. May Life return in due time with God's mighty beauty and creation upon the land and in your hearts. Love to my family. Many blessings.

During the first part of this video they definitly had hurricane force winds probably even cat 2 winds but not 140 mph. Other close by areas may have hadbb140 mph but not in this video. There was extensive tree damage but if you had 140 mph there would not be any trees left and many houses would be gone. The joggers were running into the wind after the wind had eased off. They were risking eye damage. No risk to their sanity, that was already lost.

you know you don't have to chop down a tree just because the top is broken off. You can cut it down to the first branching of the trunk and then let it regrow its head from there. Don't discard those trees because of the damage. Apart from the tree that's torn down to the base of the trunk, all the others are ok to regrow.

@@jasolhe well red maples are stunning, so that sounds awesome. I am sure your garden will look beautiful, especially in the autumn. Are you buying them already grown to 18ft or is that their max height?

You have to pay for the birds to build nests in your tree? Usually they do it for free.

Don't you think maybe those guys were making a dash back home or to grandma's to check for damage when the wind started to die down? My question to you is why didn't you bring your other car into the garage when this started? You're lucky it's intact.
