    Awesome video! I installed a stereo in a customers Street Glide and on pickup he was blaming me for messing up his light. I was like "How would I get it dirty INSIDE the lens?" He said it wasn't like that when he dropped it off. While the fairing was off I must have inverted the light at some point and dust came out and coated the lens. You just saved me a chunk of $$$. The hard part is being patient with the heat gun so you don't crack the lens. Probably took me 1/2 hour to remove.

    My Street Glide Daymaker was piss weak on low beam and making the red light on the speedo light up. I still had the old light and re-installed that. I thought the Daymaker was throw away technology but will have a go at fixing it! It is a bit cloudy inside too so will clean that up! Cheers mate!

    Reading the comments saved me, the 7" lens wouldn't loosen up. So I did what was suggested in the comments and drilled a 1/4 hole in the back of the lens and used my air compressor to pop the lens

    Hey man thanks for the tip.
    If you find America along the Mississippi River, the ride from Illinois/Iowa Area Bout Davenport north Ward into Wisconsin . Nice scenery and plenty of biker destinations.

    My stock lights are all clouded up from the same garbage, but planning on Daymakers soon. I just moved down to South Carolina from PA. Come on down and ride ALL year long. The weather is absolutely beautiful. People here are great, too!

      I had a problem but they replaced them at no cost. There was a recall back in 2009 ,so don't buy them on eBay etc.Some will cause your bike to catch fire .

    Good find on the silica packets. I snagged the Amazon knockoffs and haven't had a problem so far, but it's good to know how to fix it if or when I do. Also, if you decide to find America down here in Tennessee, we have a 12 month riding season ;)

    • @pickitup1
      @pickitup1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks for the input, did you ever compare the knock off's brightness with the daymakers?

    • @BradMcCarty
      @BradMcCarty 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've sat side by side with Daymakers and can't really notice a difference. I will say that the knockoff stuff is almost completely plastic. Don't know whether the Daymakers are or not.

      I'd be interested to know which part of Tennessee you live in that has a "12 month riding season." Here in Memfrica we had record rain and snow for at lleast 3 months.

    Had the same problem and did the same thing but the main headlight glass cover would not come off So then i came up with the idea if I drill two small holes in the back of the bulb aluminium case maybe I could use air to blow the dust out, better than that, the air pressure popped off the glass cover and gave me a chance to clean the whole unit inside.

      Did the exact same thing with my SunPie. Blast some air and BANG lens popped out. Cleaned it up and good to go. Wear a mask, these things are from China so that white stuff is cancer.

    I don't ride much at night so have kept the stock (glass) lights on my bikes. No clouding, still on the original bulbs. NO hassles. Honestly though, don't you feel a bit annoyed at paying high dollar for something that clouded up? Coulda bought Chinese for that and paid less $$

  • @tax905972
    @tax905972 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is why you get the lights with in 60 days of taking delivery of the bike.You will be covered under your 2 year warranty ,or extended warranty .If not you only get a 1 year warranty on the lights.

    So wondering how that fix went? I guess I got to do it with my spots my headlights the same damn way. I can’t stand the Harley day maker headlight I don’t like the high and low beam light on at the same time you know what I mean. So I’m going to switch to JW Speaker i’m going to try to keep my Harley spots. They are the same color you know the light color. Could imagine living in New York city been there on the bike got stuck on the bridge blew my camp bearings I think it’s called the George Washington Bridge. Had to be a fucking hundred degrees spent hours on there blew my cum bearings on the way home to Pittsburgh. Any tips I would appreciate it. Thanks

      Michael Costeline 2yeqrs later the light I repaired in this video was still good . If you haven’t fixed the cam bearing yet make sure you update the cam chain adjusters to the new hydraulic system cause when they go your motor could blow

    The LED.s are under the lenses, those are magnifying glasses.

    • @pickitup1
      @pickitup1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rod X they are one piece with the diode like the little led bulbs, the little glass looking piece is one piece with the bulb but yes they are what directs the light and gives it a beam effect I believe the term is optics.
