So a couple of things: The N64 versions are not the original arcade game. That is not why they are mentioned. The Dreamcast has Rampage too with it being on the Midway Greatest Hits Volume 2. I forgot to mention that even though I have it. I could not get my Rampage on my Atari 8 bit to work right. I wanted to show more but did not have the copies to.
Rampage and Rampage World Tour are classic arcade games. I haven't played a Rampage game in quite some time and am going to pop in the game and play for a little while. Great video!
I love your show it so innocent its like a breath of fresh air it takes me back to being a kid again like watching reading rainbow or Mr Roger's your the best man keep up the good work😊
I remember playing Rampage World Tour 2 Players with my father on PS1 for so long that I made the PS1 literally freeze after so many levels. We actually paused it to eat dinner and continued afterwards. It was a huge marathon. We must of had spent a good 12 hours on it.
I love Rampage arcade because it was THEE GAME that kindle the fire to a blaze for my love of arcade games. My 2 cousins and my sister and me set a play date at Cinderella City mall in Colorado. My sister, my female cousin and I went to a fun place called Funtastic Nathan's, and I was a little disappointed that my other cousin wasn't going to play with us (him, getting older and 4 years older, me being around 10 and he 14) , he also brought a friend with him. Funtastic Nathans was really cool, it had a giant 20 foot teddy bear, ball room, a bunching bag area of like 15 punching bags strung together close enough that you could push your way through them, they also had a really cool room where you could press your body or hands up against a wall, making poses of all sorts, once the room went dark the walls would glow and you could see your silhouette ...and yes, some kids thought it was funny to give the middle finger. But, after we were tired out, I remember going outside into the mall area, waiting for my aunt and mom. Somehow I knew my cousin and his friend went to this arcade. Funny thing, I had no interest in arcades, never went to one, yes, I saw Galaga at the grocery store or cocktail cabs when we went to go out to eat at a steak house and the bar had these games. But I stood there watching them control giant monsters, punching and destroying sky scrapers, eating people, punching each other in a cartoon, but yet, more mature theme and art design. They asked if I wanted to play and put a quarter in for me, I didn't know what I was doing, but I learned to climb the buildings from the side through their advice, basic straight punches as I climbed, and of course, they double teamed me and started punching me and laughing. Eventually my mom and aunt came back from wherever they were and it was time to go. All I could think about was the game driving home, and all week all I could think about was going back on the weekend. Telling my mom, "in Rampage they take a pill that turns them into a giant monster (I assume I saw this from the news scroll images before you pounded a city to dust), and the pill is like the quarter you put in because it makes the human into a giant monster!" But when I went back I just played Rampage, discovered other games, and I remember getting Rampage for the PC on a giant floppy (it looked like the Tandy version you showed). Man, I was excited to get that, but it didn't quite live up to the arcade. That's what was great and made the arcade so special, if you wanted better games, better graphics you knew you had to go to the arcade. Anyway, this was a bit long, but Rampage was pivotal in my understand and love for video games and the arcade. I would love to own a cabinet of it some day.
I love the tone of your videos. Reminds me that friend you meet on vacation that you become pals with and can't wait to see again...except we get to see you every new video.
Ports for retro systems were very fun. Sometimes a game would be completely different from one system to another, like with SNES and Mega Drive. Nowadays games are almost identical between consoles.
I'm a newbie from china~ knowing you from MJR's videos, a bit late to subscribe sorry... really love your unboxing and collection videos, and I love your smiling faces haha! keep up the good work and hail to SEGA!!! hmm, I still prefer master system version of Rampage tho the arcade version is much better. master system games had a special nostalgic meaning for me.
I never could understand how the Lynx games had so much more detail than regular Atari consoles from that time period. Why couldn't Atari put similar hardware into the 7800? The graphics on the Lynx was very cool.
I played the Wii collection versions with my 2 brothers-in-law. We were having a blast and laughing our asses off with the arcade version. We had fun with the N64 version, and then we were infuriated with the controls of the Wii version and didn’t like it anyway. It’s funny how I (at 28) and they (at 13 and 18) found that the older the game was, the more fun it was.
It is just time. This video was five times the work, but will do some more if I can. I am sure that I am on a small list of people who can show all the physical copies and it willing to open and showcase them on camera.
Used to play this with my Dad on the master system, he used to make me laugh by tapping up on the direction pad while on the road and it looked like George was calling someone a wanker
My brother and I loved this. Our home version was the Commodore 64 version which wasn't too bad at all, just oddly pale character sprites. We played it to death.
I loved this back in the day on my Spectrum. I wanted the Master System version but was only getting a few pound pocket money back then. Can’t wait to see the movie!
I owned the PS1 port from 2004-2008, and owned the PS2 port twice. I was a fool for selling them. Now the ps1 version, especially at the local retro game stores in my area, are probably like $30.
I loved this game as a kid in the arcade and on the SMS! I remember back then that i was praying for a SMS port of xenophobe, because rampage was done so well. Sadly the nes version was only available, and kind of a bummer
Awesome video! I have the recent Bridge Direct mini arcade version, and what's interesting is that it's a modification of the NES game, with a playable Ralph. No multiplayer, sadly.
Thanks John, just got the gba version, was looking for a tips video when I tripped across yours. Think you missed the game boy color version. May order it myself, wouldn't mind the midway classics collection. Got to check if it has robotron, would be sweet.
I am looking forward to watching this movie after finding out that was based on a retro arcade gamer...and THE ROCK is in it xD I hope that at our local PAX event, they'll have the arcade cabinet for us to try!!
Even if the movie turns out bad it has Dwayne 'the Rock' Johnson in it so it will be awesome! Great video. Love seeing all the different ports and how each one is very unique to the next.
Nice video John! I own a copy of the Atari VCS/2600 port. It's an arcade port which may not have the graphics, but definitely has the gameplay. Including a recommendation, and a link to your video on my channel's review video of the Atari VCS/2600 port.
I remember playing this on my sera master system when I was a kid and it looks different to what I remember but it does look better than the nes version
If there was a game on both the NES and SMS, you can almost always bet it was superior on the Master System. Rampage and Double Dragon are the two standouts.
So it IS the NES version! I thought it looked like the NES version on that mini arcade... I'm sure they have a nintendo on a chip with a little rom chip in there. Half the fun of Rampage was playing it with friends so I didn't want to get the mini... although I might pick up the pac man mini due to its similarities to the old Coleco one which was the first videogame I ever owned.
like how the Sega cover is shown. As for the film sad that they made so many changes to the story... Wish they went all out 1950's sci-fi style in the movie.
Aww I was hoping you would show the sequels as well. I was wondering if you have the N64 Rampage that came in a big box with the stuffed animal. Very rare piece if you do, let me know!
How is it that so many NES ports of arcade games were sub-par? Donkey Kong had a missing level, Rampage is missing a character, Double Dragon omitted multiplayer (though they brought it back in the sequel). It's not like they couldn't have done it, the Atari version of Rampage has all the characters, not to mention console is home to games far more complex.
Just found your channel....love this stuff!! My son and I, go to a local arcade about once a month....his favorite games are Rampage and Gauntlet. Hey btw, where do you get your cool hats?
Never was the biggest fan of Rampage. But it is okay to play once in a while. It looks like you have a pretty neat collection of the different ports. As for the movie, I saw the trailer when I went to see Black Panther this past weekend. And I was not impressed and I feel it will bomb. I think it is silly to make a full blown movie based on a simplistic arcade game. lol
I wish the digital version of Midway Arcade Treasures for PSP was compatible with the PS Vita, but sadly it isn't. That said, I do have the PS3 Midway Arcade Collection, so I'll play it there.
I had a buddy with a Sega and I would go to his house for Rampage and he would come over to play Mario Bros
Master System i think. That was the first one, right?
me and a friend were the only ones with a master system and everbody came to us playing Golden Axe
I am loving this video John! Had no idea so many versions of Rampage existed!
MetalJesusRocks more of these coming!
So a couple of things: The N64 versions are not the original arcade game. That is not why they are mentioned. The Dreamcast has Rampage too with it being on the Midway Greatest Hits Volume 2. Thanks John! RAMPAGE is one of my favorite video game series. It's great to see it get some love.

I love your show it so innocent its like a breath of fresh air it takes me back to being a kid again like watching reading rainbow or Mr Roger's your the best man keep up the good work😊
The 2600 port is pretty cool. Its great to see the old machine give it all on an arcade classic.
I remember playing Rampage World Tour 2 Players with my father on PS1 for so long that I made the PS1 literally freeze after so many levels. We actually paused it to eat dinner and continued afterwards. It was a huge marathon. We must of had spent a good 12 hours on it.
This was the game that taught me you could pause a game and turn the TV off lol
I love Rampage arcade because it was THEE GAME that kindle the fire to a blaze for my love of arcade games. My 2 cousins and my sister and me set a play date at Cinderella City mall in Colorado. lots of memories with this game in the arcade. I'll be watching the movie this week for sure
Awesome video! Please do more of these port comparisons. Cool that you show us the boxes as well. Thanks for another great vid
Glad to see videos like this where you share game video and compare versions. Interesting content. Thanks.
Awesome collection!! Only a true collector can have that many versions of one game!!!!
We had great fun watching this video! Many thanks!
Love the speed of the 7800 port! And I can't believe the Tandy port! Thanks again for your hard work!
I love the tone of your videos. Reminds me that friend you meet on vacation that you become pals with and can't wait to see again...except we get to see you every new video.
I like seeing the different versions as they improve through the years
love this video. i want more vids like this. rampage is one of my favourite i actually just bought it on the wii yesterday...
I played the heck out of Rampage: World Tour in the arcades as a kid, right before arcades all disappeared. I own that one about 4 different ways.
Hey John. I love this style of video. It’s fun to see all the different ports. Please do this for different games!!!!!
8:30 That title screen looks trippy if you cross your eyes, like doing a magic eye puzzle! :)
Midway arcade origins is a must have for people with xbox one. Great & probably the best home port of Rampage on there.
Loved this game at the arcades as a kid
i recently bought the nes rampage a few months ago as well as the n64 rampage world tour. good stuff.
Fun video! Love to see the different versions and their packaging.
Great video! I love it when you do comparison videos across different consoles.
Ports for retro systems were very fun. Sometimes a game would be completely different from one system to another, like with SNES and Mega Drive. Nowadays games are almost identical between consoles.

I remember spending many nights playing Rampage: World Tour on N64.
The Nes Rom in the MIni-Arcade is slightly modified to where you can play as Ralph and even gives you the option to pick your character.
I played the Wii collection versions with my 2 brothers-in-law. We were having a blast and laughing our asses off with the arcade version. Do more of these. This is great. Love the comparisons.
It is just time. This video was five times the work, but will do some more if I can. I am sure that I am on a small list of people who can show all the physical copies and it willing to open and showcase them on camera.
brother and I grew up playing on the psx I believe I need to visit my local arcade and check this and the movie out!
wow great video it was cool seeing all the different console versions
Used to play this with my Dad on the master system, he used to make me laugh by tapping up on the direction pad while on the road and it looked like George was calling someone a wanker
Great vid John! I remember playing arcade Rampage as a kid if I ate my breakfast fast at the cafe we’d go to. “Timeless classic” yes well-put!
No C64? That computer even got two ports of the game!
A good friend of mine Jeremy played to finish ( World Tour ) on N64, Jeremy passed away in 08 of testicular cancer, rest in peace Jeremy.
Love this video, John. Thanks!
Dave and Busters is advertising a new 2018 Rampage game based on the movie. Looks pretty neat.
I had Rampage world tour on ps1 totally forgot about that game.
Great video John! That master system version was unbelievable! We has the NES version. That 7800 soundchip though... Rough.
Cheers John. I only really played the spectrum version with my mates when I was a kid. It was always fun. Keep on gaming 👍
Rampage was also made for the Atari 8-bit computers. Back in the day, I downloaded and played a cracked copy.
My brother and I loved this. Our home version was the Commodore 64 version which wasn't too bad at all, just oddly pale character sprites. We played it to death.
Love rampage and love the vid John, would definitely be awesome if you compared/showcased more arcade games and their various ports
Love this game! So many good memories back in the day.
I loved playing it in my local arcade growing up. The movie is loosely based on the game. The monsters didn't start as humans. Good stuff anyway.
I'd love to see more multi-version comparison videos!
I always imagine John having Bill O'Reilly freakouts after takes! He seems like a really nice guy
I think the movie should be pretty fun.I'm glad their doing it.Great comparison video.Odd the SNES didn't get a port.
Didn't know of all of the different versions there was great video
Rampage was one of the first games I got for the ps1 !!!
I played a ton of this on my c64
another copy I do not have.
I loved it on the n64
C64 received two unique versions. EU and US releases. I find the US release a bit better. This was a great game on the C64.
I never had it on the C64. Never knew it existed on there!
And the ZX Spectrum version was decent.
Great video John!
I loved this back in the day on my Spectrum. I wanted the Master System version but was only getting a few pound pocket money back then. Can’t wait to see the movie!
Brendan Roberts Absolutely hehe...
Great video. I have been on a quest to play all versions.
Ah nostalgia Title, i also like Rampage 2 in my PS1 and i still play it, probably more than Original Rampage.
There's also many ports of Rampage World Tour too.
I owned the PS1 port from 2004-2008, and owned the PS2 port twice. I was a fool for selling them. Now the ps1 version, especially at the local retro game stores in my area, are probably like $30.

My fav is rampage world tour on n64' I have a lot of memories of me and my sister playing the crappie out of it when we was lil
always loved Rampage
The Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum versions were pretty good.Never played the Master System version but it looks great!
SMS and LYNX are my favorite versions hands down.
Awesome video! I have the recent Bridge Direct mini arcade version, and what's interesting is that it's a modification of the NES game, with a playable Ralph. No multiplayer, sadly.
Your forgetting the dreamcast version. Midway 's Greatest Arcade Hits vol 2. It's near perfection from the arcade.
Also there a Dave & Buster's version of Rampage that is based off from the movie
Have to say I loved Rampage World Tour on PS1
Even if the movie turns out bad it has Dwayne 'the Rock' Johnson in it so it will be awesome! Great video. Love seeing all the different ports and how each one is very unique to the next.
The arcades now have another version that goes with the new movie. Very cool & concept is very much the same.
Nice video John! I own a copy of the Atari VCS/2600 port. It's an arcade port which may not have the graphics, but definitely has the gameplay. Including a recommendation, and a link to your video on my channel's review video of the Atari VCS/2600 port.
I played this game on the Master system great game
wow that master system port is really impressive after seeing it compared to the nes one
Midway's Greatest Arcade Hits Volume 2 for Dreamcast had a decent emulation too
danstratocaster haha yep I even have it. Doh!
I played this on my 8.88 mhz PC in 4 color CGA graphics. The game supported 16 color EGA graphics, but my PC did not. Lovely! =D
I remember playing this on my sera master system when I was a kid and it looks different to what I remember but it does look better than the nes version
Oh my gourd! A 2600 version?! I mean, a 7800 version, I understand, but 2600?! That late into the 80's?!

The ps1 version was amazing!!! loved that game
Hey, are you still looking for the Sega Sports Pad with box?
Never was the biggest fan of Rampage. But it is okay to play once in a while. It looks like you have a pretty neat collection of the different ports. Hey Immortal John. Fun show. Good host. I'd like to get a pint with this guy at the local beer-cade.
Something really strange with the Lynx version, it sounds like a few of the music tracks were copied from Chip's Challenge?
Chinnyvision has done a video about Amiga, st, c64, atari xl, spectrum, amstrad and sms versions
I wish the digital version of Midway Arcade Treasures for PSP was compatible with the PS Vita, but sadly it isn't. That said, I do have the PS3 Midway Arcade Collection, so I'll play it there.
the movie was great, see it if you can, a lot of neat call backs.
My favorite one is the 64 world tour version.
Heard they were remaking this, but with The Rock as a playable character. He’s gonna eat people!
I totally agree! I have the SMS version and NES version, the SMS vers is ALOT better, although both are near and dear to my nostalgic/childhood heart
Apparently most critics aren't hating on the movie as much as your average video game movie. 49% on Rotten Tomatoes right now.
